As for the window, I would turn that into a “Dutch door”, so you can keep the upper part open while keeping the lower part closed

Greetings from Chiapas Mexico. I personally use a composting outhouse. As you say, it's the most ecological way to get rid of your waste. I have a dutch door in mine because I have some beautiful mountain views myself. Lovely to see your children being so creative and not tied to a game system or a laptop as so many children are these days. It's so much healthier and it's so much more wholesome for them that way. Blessings from Chiapas.

I think a barn door style door would work. You could close the bottom for privacy and open the top for the fantastic view.

Wish I were right there with you. What a DREAM, who does that ? I Bet 95% of us wish we had what it takes to do what you are doing. If my husband was not 87 and sick and I were not 76 with bad back and shoulders and knees (sounds like that kids song heads, shoulders, knees & toes). 😂😂😂😂😂. I would give anything to be there. So HAPPY YOU CAN AND ARE LIVING YOUR DREAM. Your children are wonderful. Spending time with mom & dad and being an actual living, working part of your life is something almost NO CHILDREN GET. THEY ARE WONDERFUL, HELPFUL, SWEET, CUTE, KIND, INTERESTED, HELPFUL, CAREING AND JUST PLAIN WONDERFUL AS ARE THEIR PARENTS. Glad you are strong enough to do this SUPER HARD, HEAVY WORK. Love you guys. Wish I were in a position to help out but all I can do is watch, like and subscribe.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yes on the double door for viewing that gorgeous view! FYI there is a special “blue foam” to make an insulated seat. My aunt uses it in Alaska for their outhouse as well as lining windows during the winter months to keep heat IN house. I sat on the seat in 6 degree weather and it worked well! Also, it had an upper door to open and keep watch for moose.

In the girls playground area a table sized for them would be great. You could use sawn down tree trunks for seats. Don’t know how easy to get sand/pile of dirt but kiddos love having “mudpie kitchens” to play with. Aluminum dishes, spoons, small pots etc. A 3 sided box with at least one shelf. This can be their “stove”. They ll be out there for hours.

OMG! I stumbled on this video because of the composting toilet (love the girls’ term better lol) That is THE BEST poopamatic I’ve ever seen! This was an inspiration. And the views OMG amazing!! I’m not sure what the reasons behind moving to Italy were, but holy oh poopamatic (thanks girls!) I can’t say I blame you!!! I would be in amazement everyday!!! I agree … if you’re using you, if you’re “going” in the woods (or any outdoor area) the poopamatic is like a castle!! I speak from experience being a hiker, hunter, fisherman, camper … anything outdoor ! I’m intrigued and can’t wait to view the other videos.

I sat down in a out house with a toilet seat at 40 below zero and it was like sitting on a red hot griddle, it burned. Then a friend told me to use a piece of 1 inch thick blue Styrofoam and it was like sitting on a heater that was on low it was very nice. now I know it doesn't get 40 below there but if you are there in the winter you might want to use a thin layer of Styrofoam . Even a quarter inch will work.

There is a UA-cam channel called "Below the Plains" where they dig up old outhouse pits in order to find valuable old glass bottles. The old waste is soil, sometimes still brown in color but usually just "undigested seeds" to indicate. No foul smell or odor. Poop breaks down rapidly because it is mainly water based. What remains is organic, easily crumbles down to particulate that blends into soil.

    Hello young family,
A composting toilet is ecologically absolutely valuable because it does not pollute any water and the compost later becomes valuable fertilizer. It's not disgusting to talk about, it's important and necessary. I have a composting toilet myself because it's super handy when you're working outside and don't necessarily have to go indoors. I use plenty of sawdust to cover it, so it hardly smells and the conversion to valuable fertilizer is faster. Very, very good that you are doing something like this! All the best! Ursula from Bavaria

if you're only going to eventually have 1 bathroom inside, then, you may want to permanently keep this as an option. I have a family of 4 and 3 bathrooms and when we have company we can easily have all 3 bathrooms in use at the same time, and it's nice having a bathroom to use when you're working outside and dirty instead of walking through the house that way to use one.

As far as needing a vehicle, I live in the remote areas of the Ozarks in Missouri… the best all weather family vehicle with fuel mileage as a big factor are the 02-06 Jeep Libertys, specifically the 05 CRD, it’s a diesel that boasts a modest 300ftlbs of torque and being an on demand very capable 4x4 I would strongly recommend this if you haven’t yet got a vehicle or if you come across one. The fuel mileage is around 30 or so, with 500 miles to a full tank or there around.
In your neck of the woods they are still called “Cherokee’s” . If you guys were in the states I’d donate you mine. Such a very good video and build, .

Your building skills are very impressive; as well as the design !! Please give yourself a break for how long it takes...man just the fact that you build all that you do is mind blowing. What is gross to me is the fact that most of us take for granted and are ignorant of where all our poop and garbage goes...and what it takes to process it on a huge scale (when you live in the city). This is the most sanitary and ecological way to deal with a very necessary and natural human daily activity. Personally I'd be happy just keeping the door open...but it depends on your family's level of comfort. The views are to die for!!!

You can see out, but no one can see in during the day, unless the interior light is on, and it’s still not that easy to see in. Definately a window. Good for all seasons😊. Always a view when you can.

Your two girls seem to have so much fun. Life must seem like one big adventure for them. Agree a split door, where you can get a view, keep it private, plus keep airy. But, all in all good job; cute!

Definitely need a heated toilet seat and a peek a boo window for the composting toilet!
I want to thank you for sharing all your adventures over the past years! I have a chronic condition that doesn’t allow me to walk great distances and so I am travelling this beautiful world through your amazing family’s adventures! When I was 10 my parents moved our family from CANADA to Burkina Faso, West Africa. We first lived in Lausanne, Switzerland for three months to refresh the French language and then off we went. I was sad to hear how your trip away from home Brady was very anxiety producing. I felt excited as my parents promised us kids any animal we wanted as a pet! Monkeys, deer, rabbits, dogs, cats, birds, and a chameleon! I’m sure the life you lived in Ukraine prepared you for this amazing adventure you are all now benefiting from.

Love the “Dutch door” idea, you might like to add a solar light, for evening use. Well done!!
