I’ve been playing drums for 25 years and I’ve been following Chris’s career for 18 years, and Chris is the one drummer that makes me consistently say “I could never hope to physically do that, no matter how long I worked or how hard I tried.” To call him a master of his art is the greatest understatement possible. I hate saying someone is the greatest at something, but Chris is THE greatest drummer, living or dead.

I think he made the choice because the track kinda calls for each hit to be in and out. I’m guessing he wanted a punch with no resonance, so you could hear each hit distinctly when he was playing fast. I love ec2s for gospel or hip-hop, because you can play faster without it sounding ringy.

I like this. I have to practice, though, I know Mr. Coleman often uses the count program like counting " one and two and..." with a synth speech. Where can I get this app? I would like to practice with this app. Mr. Coleman's drum with driving is fantastic. I'm looking forward to watching the next video.

Power, precision, musicality! Massive statements on the drums. Reminds me so much of Billy Cobham and I think that's high praise indeed.
