  • This is the video I wish I had seen when I was preparing for Kidney Failure and wanted to gain as much information as I could about doing Peritoneal Dialysis.
I go over 11 daily tips that will help you get the most out of doing Peritoneal Dialysis at home using the cycler every night.

Dialysis is going well at home. My forth truckload of supplies comes today. Have my own procedure to complete daily most efficiently. I get discouraged sometimes but I feel great during my 14hours of time off the machine and taking care of myself. I drove 100miles Saturday. I think I can make the trip back to South Carolina to visit my friends and family. Four months ago I couldn’t make it to the car. It’s really great. I thought I would die. Taking full advantage of life. Happy again.

I’m watching you video from the hospital bed as I recover from my catheter surgery. Thanks so much for your tips. Hearing how your experience adapting was, and knowing how you found ways to adjust is very helpful and calming in this moment of uncertainty.

I had wondered when watching this video how much time it took you to make it. You're so concise and easy to understand. (Loved the vacuum guy, especially. So cute.) The specific sharing about pain that can occur along the process of PD is very honest and extremely educational. If you only could do one video every few months, I'd be thrilled to hear what you have to say. You have your own life to live and if you're never able to make another video, what you've done already is vastly important and helpful. I'm grateful for anything I learn and am thrilled that you have even had the desire and energy to do what you've done already. Take good care. Do what's best for you! You're wonderful.

This was a really great video for peritoneal dialysis tips.
Whenever I was on hemo with my CVC I was very strongly considering PD. I was fortunate to meet someone that was only a few years older than me who was able to give me a lot of information about PD that ultimately led me to the decision that hemodialysis was a better option for me. Especially since I was so tired of having the CVC sticking out of my chest that the thought of switching to a different type of catheter was totally out of the question. It's very difficult to adjust to having this tubing sticking out of your body so I made the decision that an arteriovenous fistula was much better for my lifestyle choices.
Again, this was a wonderful video and I'm so happy that I found your channel even though I've been fortunate enough to have had my transplant back in 2020, you never stop learning.
Thanks for taking the time to do what you do, definitely take things at a pace that is easiest for you!

Thank you for sharing your story. And I'm glad that you were able to know that Hemo was going to work better for you. I think it's so important that people are able to hear experienced of people doing Hemo or PD so that they can choose which one will work better for them. Thanks again!

It’s amazing how things come to you when you need them. I am on my third month of PD, and becoming lackadaisical with my treatment. Hearing from someone who understands the ups and downs of the process is invaluable. Thank you for your courage and commitment in sharing your journey.

I had a radical nephrectomy last Feb. Now am going through a partial nephrectomy in the remaining kidney in 2 weeks. Each instance due to cancer. Your video was very helpful in the event I become a dialysis patient. We pray my remaining kidney will recover from surgery and perform as intended. If I need to be on dialysis, the home process who be my choice.

I'm at 16%. I'm wondering if there are any solutions to my all of the sudden crusty flaky scalp that came out of nowhere. Probably the least of my concerns, but very annoying and thought someone may have an idea to help heal it? Thank you for your videos. We need encouragement so badly. I'm choosing pd if possible 😊

I dealt with a very dry scalp as well during my CKD journey prior to my transplant. What I found that helped me the most was a serum oil made by 2chic. It's called ultra moist super potion, anti-frizz and binding serum oil. It's made with olive and avocado oil with no sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, phthalates or dyes.
I hope this didn't seem like too much of an ad, lol. But this stuff worked wonders for me so I hope you can find it and maybe have it work for you as well. Best of luck on your CKD journey!

I have been doing the home dialysis for about 3 weeks. In the beginning of the treatment, I have been receiving a "Low Volume Drain" alert. Yes, I am having bowel movements every day, but it still seems to alert. BTW: I have even using Gerbers kids Prune Juice which seems to get things moving if you know what I mean. Helpful tips?

I get my PD catheter in next week. Is it true that the first month on dialysis you don't sleep well?

I am exploring types of Dialysis as my kidney Doc says it is coming late 2024 to early 2025. She says the sooner I get the tube installed the better chances of getting it healed completely, does that make sense to you?

Do you have to do PD at night, or can it be done, and the daytime my husband is going to be doing PD really soon

    • @kidneykeeping
      @kidneykeeping  11 місяців тому

I choose to do it during the night using the cycler, but you can do manual which is done during that day. I have another video that goes over the two methods of PD that you and your husband might find helpful.

Don't our bodies need some salt? I am not talking salting things. But you no butter or salt. Why say no butter? Just trying to understand so I can better teach myself to think correctly.
