My grandfather was a top pilot, LCDR frank foster for the sea wolves. My hero. A true hero
My grandfather flew in hal 3 as well, I look up to him greatly, he retired as a captain in a different naval squadron.
My older brother Terry Maples served on unit 306 in the Seawolves. He shared his 8mm movies.❤
My uncle Tom was a door gunner and flew over 500 missions. He would play Santa Claus for years after my dad passed away in 71. He was one of my heroes that saw me through the years after the death of my father
Thank you for your service. I just met the Sea Wolves in Cottonwood, CA. And Igo, Ca cemetery.
Thank you for serving in our Navy, leaving a Legacy, and for sharing your stories! V/R, L. K. Harrell, USN, SCPO (Retired)
1:47 3:18 (just marking spots where my great uncle Bob is in this)
Outstanding Guy'z !!! Fellow Seawolves 69/70
Here because of Jocko
Jocko who?
Yes, sir
I read two books about the Seawolves by Daniel Kelly. He passed away in Sept. 2009.
People don't realize their the most decorated Naval Sqaudron. They worked with Seals,Green Berets and Regular Army
George Heady put his stuff that he brought back from Nam on EBay awhile back to raise money for vets wounded and killed in action. I bought his Seawolf patch and some poloroid pictures. He was a real savage in battle. Love and respect to all the vets.
I can tell you that George never put anything on EBay or anywhere else as I can't even teach him how to open an email on a computer. It must have been his daughter that did it, I'll ask him later today.
@@wishinone Now that you mention it I think it was Seawolf Bill Rutledge who was selling those things years ago. George must've given Bill those things to sell. Thanks.
George gave Bil those items to be put in a museum, he thinks Bills daughter sold them. @@JILOA
@@wishinone That doesn't sound right. Now I'm wondering if the money actually went to help veterans. Bill sold alot of seawolf things. If you want to dig a little deeper and ask questions you may want to contact Scott Kraska who runs Baystate militaria. He bought George's helmet and some other things, and he'd have answers about Rutledge and his ebay auctions.
Looking for a Gene Spinato from Long Beach Calif. Pilot that I went to hi school with and JC . Bagged flt time at NAS LEMOORE in Huey with Gene flying it in 68-69.
At 2:07 we see twin .30 caliber Browning machine gun used by the side door gunners... Were these a pair of standard .30 cal. Brownings or were they aircraft model .30 cal mg's which had a higher rate of fire than the standard .30 caliber model? When I flew with HAL-3 (as a combat cameraman) off USS Harnett County, the gunners were using the twin .30 caliber guns but, this is the first time I have seen these twin mounted guns since Vietnam...
They looked standard
Heroes!
Frederick Oscar Chaney Jr is on the left at 3:22/5:07 (time on film?) SeaWolves 1967-1968
I was a combat cameraman and flew several strikes with the Seawolves off USS Harnet County. I remember the mounted twin Browning .30 caliber machine guns they were using then (see 2:07 - 2:10). I haven't seen any footage except my own (which I don't have access to) that documents the gunships using twin .30 Cal Brownings as side guns. The M-60 had a firing rate of 500-650 rounds per minute. The Browning .30 cal. fired atthe rate of 400-600 RPM or 800-1,200 RPM for twin guns - WHICH IS QUITE AN INCREASE...
I’m pretty sure the guy filmed in that sequence is my great uncle Doug Wozniak.
How many are going back before older vertrains pass a way
History is only written by winner but as a N Viet that I can tell surely that if US kept bombing the capital, the N Viet government will retreat and South Viet will prevail and give it more time,it will become another Asian Jewel like South Korea though in lesser degree. North Viet is not that strong as u thought. US has done a great Job in Vietnam though, the communist won the war.
Badasses. Oohrah my brothers.
What episode of Vietnam in HD is this from?

Spare a thought for all the Vietnamese who died defending their country .. .for the innocent families napalmed alive for absolutely no good reason, when devils and harbingers of death - ignorant, unthinking teenagers - arrived on their shores.
Are you stupid?
So I spare a thought to the men that died on both sides, and both vietcong , nva , arvn and american soldiers made a great Sacrifice and fell for theirbeliefs, ideas and country.,
