- THIS WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN... This is an ALL YOU CAN EAT CHALLENGE GONE WRONG This Restaurant called BarBurrito challenged me to see how many of their Crunchy Fish Tacos I could eat.. I showed up for this all you can eat seafood challenge / fish taco eating challenge and lets just say it didn't go as planned. I have been kicked out of an all you can eat and cut off at a buffet a few times, and so was promised I wouldn't be cut off or kicked out when I came to this restaurant! However, I did not expect what would happen next... In fact, it was getting cut off at an all you can eat fish and chips which brought the restaurant to challenge me to see how many of their tacos i could eat (which is pretty cool as this is not a buffet or all you can eat restaurant)! So can we beat the taco record challenge? Or will this fish eating challenge, well, backfire? Tune in and see!

Almost all of these restaurants you see doing these food challenges do it for a reason. Advertising on TV can cost a business thousands if not tens of thousands of $$$. Some places might have a food challenge that is $50 - $250 let's say. The food challenger puts the show on UA-cam. Thousands of people watch. Can't beat that deal!

Who is "THEY"? And did THEY also know, WHEN Joel is coming and WHERE? Thats a big restaurant chain with many locations, how are they supposed to know where Joel is visiting if they were not told? They also offer many other dishes, its quite understandable that they were not prepared for a professional eater. It does not make sense at all to overstock all restaurants "just in case" and waste tons of foods which wont be eaten. Did Joel inform the restaurant one or two days in advance?
@rhalleballe @:20 he ways the restaurant reached out to him and challenged him to eat as many fish tacos as he could. They knew who he was or they wouldn't have contacted him and challenged. My point was they could have fed him beef or chicken too, they ran out of prepares fish tacos.

Joel is such a class act! The owner challenged Joel, knew he is an eating machine and runs out at 38. BS! If I'm haveing Joel for this I'm gonna assume he's gonna be in the 60 range, maybe more. So I'm gonna make sure I have at least a couple of hundred in stock, gotta feed other customers too. This is especially agriegous because it was the owners idea! 😮😊

It happens. They can only prepare a finite amount of fish. It obviously doesn’t last long and if not eaten. Guests, like fish, stink after 3 days……. Then again they did email him, so they should know how much he eats. The manager didn’t seem like he was lying.

For anyone wondering, it seems more likely the main BarBurrito Instagram messaged him to come out and not the specific store. The head office probably organized it with a store in his area, and the franchise got subsidized or paid to do this.
It's likely a small business, as all franchises are and they only have so much inventory everyday. Fish is not a popular item and even if you're prepping just for Joel, 40 fish(s) is a lot to have in stock. Especially when these places do primarily do beef/chicken etc.

Exactly! This is big restaurant CHAIN with many locations, how is the owner of this location supposed to know, if a professional eater comes in? Of course he does not overstock "for nothing" but based on average consumption of THAT location. I cannot find any hint wether Joel informed that location a day or two before (what he definately should have done).
Even if the location was closed that day and only open for Joel, they still should have had enough product on hand for at least four people and say they weren't going to cut him off. They had to have known who he was and how much he could eat beforehand or else they wouldn't have called him to come and do the challenge.
It's not even me doing the challenge and I'm feeling salty about it.

Ill be honest after working in food service it does get kinda annoying when people ask for so much of a food. But this is Joel Hansen... he's know for that... AND they invited him
I think it was a legit reason, BUT:
1. If you specifically invited someone to eat all they can as a challenge and KNEW when they were coming, you would make damn sure you have enough product to cover it
2. So things happen and plans don't always play out well for one reason or another, yes, but they could have offered tacos with different meat instead or another similar item on the menu.. pretty poor to say they won't cut you off but end up cutting you off in essence by not offering to keep it going in some way.
But hey man, props to you for eating 38 tacos (although we all know you could've easily done 45-50) cause that's a rediculous amount of food!
The one thing I love most about your videos (as opposed to other competitive eaters on UA-cam) is that you always push yourself to your limits even when you dont need to (as an example - having 30min on clock but not just taking things easy at 25min because you can, and instead smashing it out the park in 12min or less).. thankyou for the quality content 👌🏻

A burp is just the bottom valve of the stomach opening and food going down into the intestine... Like when you get a drink out of a water cooler and you watch the bubbles go up.
Since he eats so much food, it can't remain in his tiny stomach and it has to move its way through into the intestines before it's even digested

LOL His stomach expands many times over to accommodate the massive quantities of food, much like a woman's womb does when she's 9 months pregnant. His stomach and intestines push the other organs out of the way to make room for all the food he's eating, which is why you will see him gulp air during some challenges - even his lungs and diaphragm get pushed out of the way and "squashed" for lack of a better term. But you're right about the burping and the bottom valve opening to allow food to pass. Some of it is from the carbonated water or soda he drinks, and it makes room for more.
He usually drinks soda to burp. It gives him more room in his stomach to eat more. If you drink soda and you burp can’t you feel the difference from being full to give you more room to eat?
I know people that burp more than that after a small meal.

Joel there are a bunch of other creators that do the buffets they call ahead of time and make sure they can actually eat all they can eat. That's why you have issues at buffets. There are 3 other ppl that eat like you but they call ahead of time

But yes. Joel has no idea how kitchens work and how much strain him walking in can cause if they aren't prepped. And they can't prep every day for the one in a thousand chance something like that will happen. Weekends or dinner times; there are times they are probably way more prepared for it. But lots of times he is in empty places; making me think it's a dead time.
The right thing to do is call ahead and let them know. Just like you should always do if you are coming with a large group at an odd time.
