The music is written by John Powell. It is because of this gloriously epic soundtrack that he became one of my favorite composers! ^^

This is one of Dreamworks masterpieces. The sense of wonder, the worldbuilding, the character development just about everything is perfect. The moment Stoic staggers in pain after shouting at Hiccup "You're not my son." shows such attention to visual storytelling it's amazing.

Of the reactors I have watched so far, you are the only one who noticed and mentioned that even Stoick himself was hurt after he disowned Hiccup.

Came to say the same thing. Most miss that part and just hate the dad. But what he said hurt him just as much.

Everything is amazing yeah. The shows expand on the world and character relations as well as some other things. Everything is great except for the newest show ‘The Nine Realms’ that does not deserve to be even distantly related to this franchise

@@friendlyneighborartist2021 Nine Realms is canonic, so we can not ignore it. At least it is an official continue of a HTTYD franchise

Definitely check out the other movies
one thing I love about the movie is the camera work and the _soundtrack_ it just lifts you up
and honestly, there haven't been many dragon rider dynamics since the Riders of pern books(which were to have a movie but got cancelled in 1999)

I just watched your reaction and I gotta say, it was a blast ! I totally agree with you on so many points. "How to Train Your Dragon" is just amazing in every way. The story, the animation-everything about it is top-notch. And yeah, John Powell's music ? Absolutely fantastic. It really adds so much to the movie's emotional impact.I love how you connected with the characters and the story. The bond between Hiccup and Toothless is just so special, and it's awesome to see how much it resonated with you. And you're right, the humor and those little adult jokes-they really make the movie enjoyable for everyone. If you loved the first movie, you're gonna be blown away by the next two. The animation gets even better, and the storytelling just keeps getting deeper and more emotional.

15:12 John Powell, the legend. A little bit of a fun fact, he and ANOTHER film composer legend named Hans Zimmer (aka the guy who composed the soundtracks to the Lion King, Interstellar, Prince of Egypt, etc) came together and wrote the score for the Kung Fu Panda trilogy.'
Definitely recommend checking out videos about the way the music plays such an important role in this movie and how John Powell used music motifs really well, the music for this movie is like a masterclass on motifs and writing music for films.
A little sneak peek into that topic is the fact that both Hiccup and Toothless have their own separate music themes in the movie and during the "Test Drive" scene when they fly for the first time, their music themes come together in this epic and triumphant piece. That's why you got chills during that scene lmao, it's very good writing

My other favourite more recent animated movies would be 'Megamind' (2010) and 'Up' (2009). You should look up Aardman Animations. They have movies like 'Chicken Run' (2000) in stop-motion. Another good one is, 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' (1988) that has animation mixed with real life.
