Mnemonics for CYP450 Drugs:
Inducers (ASMR): Anticonvulsants, St John Warts, Modafinil, Rifampin
Inhibitors (ABCDE): Antimicrobials (lots), Belly (Omeprazol, Cimetidine), Cardio (Amiodarone, Calcium channel blockers), Depression (SSRIs), Extra (Grapefruit juice)
Omg these mnemonics are gold
Could you plz make high yield step2 review videos
I don't know if you'll ever realize the level of anxiety this video just quelled. Even though I clearly have a lot to review and understand nitty-gritty, this overview gave me hope and took me out of a pretty dark spot mentally! Thanks so much Santiago!!
I completely second this. This is gold when it comes to the limited time to pass step 1.
Disclaimers / Corrections:
I came up with this list through my personal experience: having answered around 15.000 questions from more than 5 qbanks + experience with the real deal, so it's not like any official list taken from the USMLE. I'll be adding in this comment any other extremely high yield topic I didn't think off while making this list:
1. In 30:07 it was supposed to say Cherry Red MACULA: NOT HEMANGIOMA.
2. For Immunology: CGD is also a very high yield primary immunodeficiency
3. In cardio: other High Yield ECGs: WPW and Hyperkalemia
4. Most of embryology is included in the other systems (example neonatal ARDS)... I’d just add pharyngeal pouches/arches, and embryological origins (Ex. They give you an adrenal insufficiency case and ask from which embryological layer or structure are the adrenals derived)
15000? That's nuts
@@nghiapham1756 Actually, fairly typical if you are serious about learning medicine, and serious about USMLE, not extreme at all. What else would one do? Videos? Flash cards? Mnemonics? I have known some that knew such material inside and out and could not answer a proper clinical question to save their life. ;)
What question banks did you answer? And how long did it take you to answer those 15000 Qs? Great vid btw!!
Santiago nbme base is 170 i have a really weak base can't remember everything right after doing pathoma for example UW avg is 40 test (25% done) test by January will this work for me
@@FernandoChaves Although you commented months ago, this hit home. While I'm not going to be taking the USMLE for a long while, I've been a student instructor for Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophys; I recently started practicing USMLE questions to see how well I do with what I've already mastered. Needless to say, while I've averaged about 70% in my current test bank, it was humbling. Facts just don't equal application. Now I've been focusing on clinical questions and my confidence in my answers has greatly improved and thankfully my accuracy.
Your channel is simply....BRUTAL. You are a role model for the medical students. Greetings from the Universidad de Manizales.
Just in time Santiago. So grateful 🙏🏻
Just found your page and wanted to say you are a God sent! Thank you so much for taking out the time to help us. It really means so much!

Wow thanks again, super high yield video! Will definitely be returning to watch this as I go through systems and at least once more near the end. It also put into perspective how many things I still have to study with only 2.5 more months before dedicated.... guess I better get to work
I have seen so many videos but yours are so different and true to the core . Thanks for all the efforts 👏

Greetings from Kampala, Uganda. I am trying to do my research before I start to study.. I find your video enlightening on what to focus on and how to learn it with clinically oriented approach.. thanks a lot.

Great content... Very helpful.. Thank you very much
Wow.....this is really amazing!!!!
I'm writing the Step 1 in 3wks time and this is really helpful
God bless you man!!
How did it go?
I took the exam! MOST of my exam questions were from these. You have to know all the associations with the disease in a SYSTEMATIC manner and not just the disease itself.
Around how much percent appeared in exam and what to keep in mind preparing for it??
Great video! Please Make a similar video with highest yield topics for step 2CK.
Tysm.Amazing content and super helpful. Really appreciate it!
What you did is really impressive, the effort is incredible and much appreciated. I think you should make a list of the most high yield videos from pathoma and boards and beyond. a list of what videos to study before taking the exam.
Those topics make the list, what are you waiting for !!!
Yes, it would be really helpful.
Thank you so much for this video! I am about to enter my dedicated period and this helped me feel just a little bit less anxious over the sheer amount of content!
i'm at the last 2 weeks of my dedicated. what a joy ride :) remember take care of yourself, the knowledge will come but at the end its a mental battle. be kind to yourself and you will rock this exam

I will add embryology , embryological origins like mesodermal, ectodermal ,etc . I always jump on question that could be a histological pictures and they said it is a mesodermal derivated or something like that
You’re totally right! I’ll add that to the disclaimers, thanks!!!
We are gonna need a vid for STEP 2-CK topics...
You are a legend bro.. Every time I encounter our seniors, they would confuse me by their ugly ideas about usmle.. After listening to u, it looks familiar..
Thank you so much..!!
HELPFUL
Thanks a lot for this content.Love it.
Santiago can you please make a Highest-Yield Topics For The USMLE Step 2? Thank you so much for everything you do
mil gracias!!!!
Thank You
Thanks a lot for ur video … pls could u include pathology high yield
You the best!
Wowww, thank u sooo much ...
So I clicked on this video just because I was taking a break from studying and wanted to watch something while eating. I found your voice to be monotone and I don't mean it in a bad way, perhaps I should use "MELO" instead, so that made me go into "autopilot" right away until I heard you say "A LOT OF FUCKING TREES" lmfaooo this brought back my attention to you sooo quick lollllll. Anyways I believe that things shouldn't be taken "TOO serious" and there should be a balance. This is why you caught my attention back into the video. I am so grateful that you shared your knowledge with us. This made me super happy. Thank you once again.

Hands down for the best tip! Helped allot, actually i did jotting down the common topics while i was doing uworld
You are damn right!
P.s - i never used to comment in youtube.
Kudos🤘
hi can you share the topics?
@@Glycam hi, topics are same that he referenced in this video! What he said is true!
@@T-Totler cool thanks. My exam is in January before pass and fail and I feel so overwhelmed
Can you please make a write up for Step 2? My step 1 score was low and would love to hear more about your specific study plan
yes please step2!
I am thanking God for bringing u into my life! ❤
How would you prioritize each module? This is also important to know, I know that for example Cardio is going to be more common to be asked than Psych, but there are some that I don’t know if they’re more important than others.
Hello Dr. Santiago;
Kindly could you put the important topics for step 2 CK ?
Hope you also make for step 2ck
For biochemistry, what is your approach in learning these diseases? Do you recommend memorising all the pathways with all the enzymes etc? Quite a lot of pathways to get through in addition to the high yield ones mentioned in the video...
Hey..please make one such list for step 2 as well
First of all thank you very much for this amazing video!!
I just wanted to point out Heme synthesis and of course all the porphyrias- I've noticed that it comes up a lot in Hematology and Biochemistry and you didn't mention it. I think it is also a high yield topic. What do you think?
It’s high yield
Definitely agree!!!
God's work right here. THANK YOU.
Highest-Yield topics for the USMLE Step 2ck plz
Thanks for the video. I am wondering if you have done a similar video for the important topics on step 2 CK exam ?
Hi, anyone who took the step 1 recently? What do you think are the high yields you have encountered? or any repetitive high yield topics?
Hey! Really appreciate your efforts that you've put.
A quick question should we use this as an 'Index' or as a 'Checklist'?
It really depends on your goal, timing, and specific set of conditions. However I do believe that aiming to use it as a checklist could be more helpful. Mostly because reviewing it in this way will feel like "I know most, so I'll concentrate of the few things I don't" instead of "Fuck, this is still too much"
I wish I had a friend like you in med school! All my colleagues have this mainstream med school mindset “Hustle hard dont sleep just eat books” hahaha
Thank you for being you 🙏🏼
Keep up the great work😊
Can you do one of these for STEP2 please!?
Hello Santiago, thank you so much for the amazing video; I will keep this in mind in my approach to step 1. Please, what resources do you recommend for studying action potential, especially in neurons and nerves? I more than appreciate any help. Best regards.
I'd probably try with Osmosis or Physeo videos, they are usually great at explaining those kind of topics. If not available, maybe I'd try reading CRUSH you can download it from here (if it doesn't get flagged) drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wS94NyZCPtGjgU1n7RbgoeJ5Fe959-K8
Please make a video like this one but for CK :)
yes!
I love you so much❤❤❤❤❤
would it be too much to ask you make a document of these lists for us?
