    Bass player mate of mine drove up and bought the 5 string the day it came in and used it on a gig that night. What a great sounding and looking bass, amazing stuff.

    The "lack of innovation" commenters clearly have never played or owned a Sire MM. The innovation is the creation of a Custom Shop rival at 2nd hand Mex Fender prices. I've owned a V7 5 and was blown away with it and have now taken delivery of the new P7 which is unbelievable and at the price point. Mate just bought the V9 which is again stunning. You won't buy a better spec bass for twice the price, I've just sold my Fender American P bass as I don't need it and it wasn't as good as the Sire MM. Well done Sire, MM and Andertons for finally stocking them.

      LOL, cheap 1000 dollar MIM Fender competition basses? They sound thin, and look like a knock off, with the laughable fake headstock . You get sense in those, you're like the Hyundai driver who thinks he has a Mercedes, LMAO!

    You didn't mention that the V7 Vintage has a different bridge pickup position wrt the V7. I think that is closer to the bridge, like the '70s Jazz Basses.

    I've owned a lefty V7 since January of 2016 and these basses are great! Pots are solid, the pickups sound great and the tone I get really gets a lot of compliments. I'm thinking perhaps a lefty M7 will be next.

    Great demo Nathan and Lee. I've had a Sire Marcus Miller M3 for about a year now and it's become my #1 bass. It offers a huge variety of tones and plays very well.

      they are in the same category as Squiers and MIM Fenders. Made in China I believe. Thin sounding, for wanna be vintage players . People see you with this, it screams - here comes the "hobby bass man".

    Btw, the primary difference with the V7 Vintage is that it is 70s pickup spacing whereas the normal V7 is 60s. Also the neck is always maple, so it's the only way to get an alder/maple combo.

    I had a Sire for a few years and it seems they've slowly been gaining traction. For the price they are great, but if you have the money, any nice jazz style bass could be better. You can find a Fender on CL or ebay for just as much, if not a little more sometimes. I sold my Sire, got a Reverend Justice, and I'm never looking back. I think the Sire is a bit 'thin' sounding no matter how you set the EQ. That said, glad I got to experience one.

    Can someone help me , I got a sire S7 alder 4 string jazz bass today and noticed the pick up selector knob doesn't have a middle knotch to let u know when u are in the centre and using both pick ups it just goes either way freely and I've no idea where the middle is, this is very unlikable and I think I'll return it, is this the case on all sire basses or is mine just queer ?

  • @Prince_Sharming

    Great basses but I can't stand the truss adjustment in the body and the headstock shape. Kinda ruins it for me aesthetically but everything else is great.

  • @40spinup
    @40spinup 6 років тому

    My Review. Well had my Sire Marcus Miller V7 4 string fretless a while and here are my honest opinions. The bass construction is good and fit and finish is good. Has a huge tonal palette but I just use mine in passive mode. Easy to play so generally all good. The negative points for me. The bridge is terrible. Trying to set up intonation on a fretless is bad enough but this has been the worse one. The saddles don’t stay seated and flop around and lift up and the adjustment screw won’t go back far enough as the thread inside the saddle isn’t long enough so I shortened the screws on mine. It’s just a typical cast cheap bridge so I’ll be changing for something a bit more stable and adjustable. The next bad thing is similar quality to the bridge, the machine heads or tuners if you prefer. Bit slack but also the amount of metal that grinds when turning isn’t a nice feeling. Quite tight to so they will we changed also. I’m not a fan of the lacquered neck but that’s just my choice so may sand that off but over all for the price not too bad. A good second bass or a cheap fretless to get started in to it but I don’t think I would use one as my main bass. I may change my mind after some mods. Hope that helps.

    The pickup blend in my v9 feels like it went all the way if I tweaked it a bit. For example at 4 it feels like entirely bridge pickup, at 6 almost only neck pickup.
    Is it normal or should I have it checked?
    (I'm not a pro so I might be entirely mistaken)

    What !!!!! no demo of the P7 (PJ pickups rather that just a 'Jazz' bass)....... Good job I didn't wait for the video before I bought one ;-) I have one of the first 10 P7's in the country & love it... believe or not I've used the active bit as I want to 'get to know it' as a passive bass, then comes the fun stuff i.e active, pedals, etc. The only downside for me is knowing that U.S. customers get the Marcus Miller gig bag included

    Once again the Bass market has shown the guitar market the way to go. They did it with amps, now they are doing it with instruments. Whether you like this bass or not, it won't cast you $1500 to find out. I looked at the website and the build materials seem to be very good. Now you can buy a 6 string guitar for $400-$500, but it will have cheap pickups and "pot"metal hardware.

    Andertons, I love you guys and Marcus Miller (check out his stuff with Miles Davis) but oh dear, there's nothing new to see here... It's just a Jazz Bass copy with an active pre-amp. They could've at least had a go at a new body style, even if they used the Jazz Bass template to start with - and not just re-shape the headstock. I understand it's all about shifting units out of the shops but try and be a little bit innovative... Must we live in a world where everything looks the same..?!

      There are plenty of different basses out there if you aren't into these. Maybe go down to your local music store and have a look around. You'll be astounded at the variety on offer. Not everything looks the same.

      It's not just a jazz bass copy, it's a bass built exactly to Marcus's specs. The innovation in this bass is that it was built to sound and play every bit as good as the top of the line Fender basses but at unbelievably low Squier prices. The V7 is stocked with high end features like string thru body, expensive tonewoods, active/passive 18V preamps, et al. There is a reason this is the best selling bass on Thomann and worldwide. If you want more modern design cues (Ibanez style changes in body shape that the OP might call "innovation"), Sire has those as well with the M series. This bass is all about Marcus, high end specs and a low price.

      Thing is...try to imagine a new guitar body form, that does not look familiar with something thats already on market, but also looks cool
      for me it´s like trying to imagine a new colour

      G I understand that these are good quality basses, but what im referring to is the design. Why do they keep imitating fenders? Cant they just try to make their own signature design? That shape is already taken.

    • @capiseric
      @capiseric 6 років тому +3

      If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Marcus Miller gets what he wants and it's what bass players gravitate towards. It would be dumb business not to make a classic jazz shape. Look at the M7 if you want a new shape. Those are beautiful!

      Fender used to make Marcus Miller signature Jazz Basses. The reason why so many manufactures "copy" the J and P bass style is because it's a tried and true design that works. Creating a whole new design can be risky because if it doesn't catch on and sell well it could lead to the brand going bankrupt.

      What do you want? A galactic cucumber that spurts fire from its teats? And has a low action and is reasonably priced? You give it to me and I'll review it.......

      How many of those can you find that are quality and have a 3 band active EQ for under 500? Go on, name a few.

    cheap basses! sound like thin metal. No vintage phat fender tone here. Trust that Marcus' bass is special , nothing to do with these cheapo wanna be Fenders. Way too much treble, no low end or growl. At least for me.

      That is on the user. You crank up the low end and down on the high end, you'll get a booming sound that only a rapper would want. You have "reviewz" in your channel name; get one and review it?
