There's even a four-way variant that forces you to defend your flanks -- the opponent on your right can be eliminated with some quick play because of how close their king is to you; but the opponent on your left can eliminated _you_ with the same moves because of the same thing, and you can't ignore the opponent across from you. I love it and I wish I could find an online version of it again.
I think what makes this funnier for me is knowing exactly which heat action Kiryu is doing at 0:17 just based off the sounds, and really imagining this is exactly what even the enemies do while the heat action plays out lol.
I've always had the head canon that the fights in 7 did happen in real time but the nuclear grade autistic giga-chad energy of Ichiban made us see it through his dragon quest fantasy induced eyes. Kiryu is just so serious and cool it breaks Ichiban's concentration on his fantasy to witness the reality of this beast of a man just go to town on the morons who decided to FAFO today.
That's not headcanon, it's literally the truth. There are no jobs, everyone is just throwing hands but in his imagination Nanba is spitting fire and Saeko is using magic healing songs. The turn based nature represents how Ichiban is stronger than everyone he fights for the most part but let's them get hits in for the fun of it. I'm really hoping Gaiden gives us an insight into what the fights actually looked like. I wanna see Saeko kicking actual ass and see what Ichiban's real fighting style looks like.

And even if it does overlap with 7 in the end, who knows if they end up using cutscenes from 7? Because they did exactly this in the beginning of Y6 with Y5 cutscene. Kiryu doesn't event look the same before and after Y5 recap.

This is an attack that we heard took place in 7 but didn't get to see, meaning that particular scene should be taking place after the Omi Feast but before the boss battle with Kiryu, as Saejima, Daigo and Majima don't reunite with Kiryu until that Feast. It's been described as a game that'll showcase what Kiryu was doing between 6 and 7, as well as covering some events during and after 7 as well to lead up to Infinite Wealth and why he's in Hawaii.
It's clearly an ultimate move designed to call back to his games by letting him tell cancer to fuck off for a minute. It'd probably take a few random battles to charge.

Remember True Final Millennium Tower Amon? You really think he’ll let you get away with this? KEKW If i had to put money on it, the broken jobs would have to Sujimancer/ Black Mage on crack & maybe Geodancer & Dealer if it comes back. Every other job looks fun & gimmicky but likely lacks good utility for tough fights like Breaker, Bodyguard, & Musician from the last game (unless RGG learned that lesson & actually buffs these new jobs out). If anything, DoD will deal out decent dps to bosses that don’t have Amon bullshit as long as his equipment & stats are specced right

Ya play as Ichiban you get to play the whole rest of the game turn based and can switch back anytime you want, this game looks amazing and I am excited to see my boy Kiryu, it just sucks this choice is forced on all of us who liked the OG combat. The whole reason behind the drama was that the studio (Johnny & Associates) responsible for Yagami's face model and VA, Takuya Kimura, didn't want the games ported over to PC as they feared people would do weird shit to Kimura's likeness... if you didn't know, Kimura is a literal superstar over in Japan, he's an icon, so the decision can be seen as them being overprotective of his image. However, since we've gotten the Judgment games on PC, it might be safe to assume RGG and Johnny & Associates came to a some soft of mutual understanding, so without any official word, it's hard to say what'll happen next.

Im a long time fan of this series and coped so hard to actually enjoy the turn based combat. I enjoyed it so much in persona 5 royal, SMT 5. But in yakuza 7, with the nature of turn based difficulty is hard tied to level gap, its just feels weird that you must do some grinding to beat the later part of the game. In previous titles i finished legend playthroughs without worrying too much about it

He was shot multiple times and presumed dead in 6. Only to be in hospital again and completely fine a few days later. He physically can't die at this point.

I heard someone say that Kiryu is playing along with Ichiban's RPG fantasies for fun, but when you activate this ability he stops holding back.
His cancer could also probably be another explanation for him going along with ichiban's turn based style, probably could be doing that to still fight without exerting himself too much, thou my head canon for why he sometimes just breaks turn order is cause he lost his patience and just wants to kick the enemies ass now lol
I think this theory also works for Majima and why he follows turn based, though I wish he had this same ability Kiryu does where he can just go "fuck it we ball"

this actually would explain why sometimes the enemies in the older games just kinda stand there circling around while you kick the shit out of their friend. This whole time everyone in the world has been fighting turn based and kiryu + friends have just been doing this.

I like the turn based combat but I really want to see Ichiban brawl. I think his combos, counters, and heat actions would be really cool to see.
There is a mod that allows you to brawl in realtime with ichi in Y:LAD
Im a long time fan of this series and coped so hard to actually enjoy the turn based combat.
I enjoyed it so much in persona 5 royal, SMT 5. But in yakuza 7, with the nature of turn based difficulty is hard tied to level gap, its just feels weird that you must do some grinding to beat the later part of the game. In previous titles i finished legend playthroughs without worrying too much about it

@@anom2619ok so aside from the incredibly obvious Kirin tattoo that shows up behind kiryu when he breaks out of turn-based mode. The first series of rapid punches he does are ripped strait from mine’s Y3 final battle where he goes into yellow rage mode.
...No? The rapid punches belong to Kiryu after you exhaust his light attacks in extreme heat mode in the Dragon Engine games. As for the tattoo, I didn't ask about it, I asked about the attacks, none of which are Mines. Everything from Dragons Resurgence is Kiryus extreme heat moveset.

He was shot multiple times and presumed dead in 6. Only to be in hospital again and completely fine a few days later. He physically can't die at this point.
