I just realized that it wasn't Gutenberg who invented printing press, because rolling the clay cylinder with imprinted text was used by the Babylonians for printing copies of cuneiform tablets some two thousand years earlier.

That's a good point. Gutenberg simply invented another method of printing, though printing like you said has been around for a LONG time shown by all the different cylinders and seals that have been found from across the ancient world.

Gutenberg invented printing with MOVABLE type. Before him, you could cast a text and print this text many times, but only short and important texts were printed. Movable type allowed printing all types of texts, a milestone for humanity.

    Love your content!
Do you know how they configured the Babylonian siege date of 586/7 BC? Did they find it written on tablets? I have done all the calculations out of the Bible using the king James version. I have attached it here to show you that earth is approaching 6000 years.

      Thank you! 🙂
Basically, they come to that date by comparing different ancient historical sources (including the Old Testament) and there is a clear match. The destruction of Judah/Jerusalem by Babylon is one of the key lynch pin dates for ancient history.
I agree with you on the age of the earth. 😎👍

Yes, they found the date in Babylonian calendars.

Total elapsed years to the first exile of Judah and destruction of 1st Temple= 3387 from Adam
Almost every theologian and historian agrees the temple was destroyed in 586-587 BC
    3387 + 586/587 BC = 3973 to 3974BC
This puts the 6000 year mark using scripture between 2027 and 2028 depending on how you carry your decimals and what date you use for the Babylonian siege and destruction of the first temple

Then why doesn't Daniel mention that Nabonidus as Belshazzar's father? The Cyrus Cylinder makes no mention of Belshazzar as the King that was conquered nor does it mention that the "Jews" were released to rebuild their temple. It was all about restoring Marduk as the patron god of Babylon. Daniel also mentions Darius the Mede. Who is this character?

    • @GospelandSpade
      @GospelandSpade  10 місяців тому +2

Nabonidus is not mentioned by Daniel simply because Daniel was dealing with Belshazzar (the junior king) and not Nabonidus (the senior king), apparently because Nabonidus was not in Babylon but was in Arabia when the city fell to the Persians.
The Cyrus Cylinder would logically not mention the junior king Belshazzar (less important) but the more important senior king Nabonidus as he was the ultimate head of the kingdom of Babylon.
Your right that the Cyrus Cylinder does not mention the Jews and is primarily about the restoration of Marduk. However, it does also mention briefly the common Persian policy and practice of allowing captives of various peoples to return to their homelands and to rebuild their temples to their gods back home. Until the cylinder was found the only known record of such a policy and practice was to be found only in the OT and was considered by many to be untrue and ridiculous as a result until the Cyrus Cylinder showed that they did have such a policy after all.
There is much discussion and debate about who Darius the Mede is. Personally, i think that Darius the Mede is simply an alternative Median name for the Persian king Cyrus as ancient Kings often had different names in different areas, especially when the region spoke a different language.

He doesn’t mention the king nabonidus because he either doesn’t know or he is trying to use the most important king of Babylon as the main character in the story .most honest scholars state that Daniel wasn’t written in the period of time the book is referring to but in around 175 bce. this date solves the issue with the prophecy that came true ( retrojection )and the ones that didn’t and that they got the king wrong or intentionally wrong .just remember from the time Daniel was composed to the time this cylinder was found and deciphered the Jewish religion and Christianity already considered the bible to be 100% correct and it was the only source of information on the subject .now we have more information of events that happen in these ancient Jewish text we can see what they were doing .it wasn’t history as we record history .
