  • In this video I'm showing you how I unbox, test and review the Falcon Eyes Bi-Color Video Led Lamp SO-28TD 230V 3000-5600K Round Soft Studio Light during a newborn photoshoot. I got the light from: www.amazon.co....
    www.amazon.de/...
    www.amazon.com...
    I'm a full-time photographer in the Netherlands and I'm planning on showing you a but more of my life as a photographer. Are you interested in photography? Are you looking for a free-online Photography course? Do you want to see the inside of a Photo Studio? Then please, watch my videos and subscribe to my channel!
    I'm planning on sharing videos in which I show you my typical work-week as a photographer. I will give you tips & tricks concerning photography, photo shoots, backdrops, studio props, camera settings (iso, aperture, shutter speed, white balance), photoshoot outfits, photoshoot make-up etc
Ik zal videos maken over camera instellingen (iso, sluitertijd, diafragma, wit-balans), studio achtergronden, fotoshoot outfits, fotoshoot make-up enz.
    IMPORTANT
    If you are interested in photographing newborn babies yourself I would highly recommend you to first learn about photography in general. Master you camera, photograph in the Manual mode, learn about aperture, iso, shutter speed, white balance, light and composition. Take photos of your friends (adults or very patient older kids) and make sure you don't have to think about your camera anymore when photographing babies. Learn about editing as well. Please, don't experiment photographing Newborn babies without training. Attend a workshop by an experienced and professional photographer with an expertise in Newborn Photography. Learn about the anatomy of babies and invest in good quality cameras, lenses and props. Babies are extremely vulnerable and small and their safety and comfort should be your highest priority. Start with simple poses and make sure you know and understand that many 'pinterest poses' are composites. Please, don't try this at home. If you want beautiful photos of your own Newborn Baby, I highly recommend you to hire a professional and experienced photographer who is trained and specialised in Newborn Photography.

    Hi Fenna! Can you please do a video on your editing workflow? All your images are so consistent and You always seem to have 2-3 sessions a day and I would love to know your workflow to stay on top of them all! I am all over the place and I feel like it takes me forever for all the post-shoot things!

    I have used both Studio continuous lighting, Studio flash lighting and speedlights for many years with my portraiture including newborn photography. I have to agree with you using speedlights is preferable to using these panel video lights but I reserve these for use on location use at peoples houses. Sticking with my larger Studio Flash Lights and soft boxes/umbrella's when in studio. I do tend to shoot more at people's homes as requested, but studio shooting is always my personal preference. I really like your video's, keep up the good work. Thank You. Mark.

    I use strobes or 60W LED (which looks like a strobe) both with softboxes or even umbrellas. But I get good results with both without crank up my ISO.

    Thanks for reviewing this continuous lighting system Fenna . I started out with continuous white umbrella lighting and found it very shadowy . I prefer my Alien Bee lighting with my big 50 inch Westcott soft box . It is a much more even light , and wraps so beautifully around my subjects . It is also much easier on the eyes to use my strobes with my triggers. I can see the new light you reviewed would be easy to take to an outdoor shoot , or if you are using it with natural light ! It would be a great fill light if it was a dark day ! Your photos are so gorgeous , I don't think you need to change to any other lighting . It is always fun to try something else , just in case it is better . I usually find my tried and true original method usually works the best !! LOL

    Thank you for this video! I'd love to see this in the soft box facing away from the baby, if you have the time to try it and show us. I was planing on getting a continuous led with an 86" umbrella and diffusing cover, facing the light toward the back of the umbrella.
    I can't afford a strobe. I could get a speed light with HSS, but the led seems so much easier.

    Hi Fenna, I would recommend you the rotolight lights, you have flash and continuous light at the same time

    The shadows are too strong with this light (to my liking) maybe for filming as you said...

    I’m happy you did a review on this. My school got a bunch of new lights and some are led lights similar to these but about 10 times the cost. I was wondering if they would work for newborns! I was hoping to try them out on a newborn next week. The flashes are usually pretty bright too so I think it would be ok to use a higher setting.

      I think it would also be fine to turn on the light a bit more. Especially when you have more lights turned on in the studio and you have it on from the beginning. When you have it on for a while it really feels less bright, than when you turn it on in the middle of a session while my softbox was blocking a lot of daylight :) It's really a good led light and the price is good as well! I indeed see in the photos the flash is stronger and even with wide awake babies, they don't even blink or squint their eyes at all. Also, the sitters and cake smashers don't mind the flash.

    PS. I shoot with a Nikon D800 & tend to shoot using my Nikon 24-70mm for all studio work and at peoples homes, Using my Nikon 80mm & 70-200mm when outside on family shoots.

    I use a lumix led mono light with a 40 inch soft box.

    • @FennaPhotography
      @FennaPhotography  6 років тому

      That's sounds like a good combination. I think placing the led light in my own softbox (facing inwards, so it's reflected) would be lovely as well

    I love your videos and I think your work is wonderful, only thing in your videos is sometimes you repeat the same information many times throughout the same video. I hope to be be good like you one day 😍❤️

    do you think if you had a bigger pad like the 27 inch it would of been better?

    Could you have slowed your shutter speed instead of increasing iso? Great videos :-)

    • @FennaPhotography
      @FennaPhotography  6 років тому +4

      Definitely, but I was shooting out of my hand and didn't want motion blur. On a tripod you could go much slower. Also I could have taken the picture with a larger aperture (e.g. 2.8) to decrease my iso with a few stops. However, the grain is hardly noticeable with this camera, even on a higher ISO

  • @natalia1923
    @natalia1923 6 років тому +1

    I'm just wondering, when I put iso to 560 or so my photos are getting grainy even exposed correctly and I have nikon d750. images are not crispy as edges are somewhat grey.

    • @FennaPhotography
      @FennaPhotography  6 років тому

      That sounds very strange to me, since most full frame camera's can handle a higher ISO pretty well. Even the mages I took at iso 2500 still look crisp and sharp when I zoom in. It's not quite noticeable unless you print the image very large. Maybe you can check the sensor somewhere and have it cleaned? If anyone else has the same issue with the D750, maybe they can reply to your comment as well. I'm curious to know.

    • @natalia1923
      @natalia1923 6 років тому

      oh ok, i may check the sensor, its just the same with my latest session, edges not look crisp on 100 iso ! thank you for your fast reply

      @natalia1923 6 років тому

      ok i think that may be it! i havent cleaned it in a while, so yeah, thank you for reminding me

    What speed light and softbox do you typically use

    • @FennaPhotography
      @FennaPhotography  6 років тому

      Usually I use the westcott 50 inch softbox with the Nikon Sb700 speed light. I also I have a video where I show these. It's this video: ua-cam.com/video/k_G-pLai-Lw/v-deo.html
