- Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by former First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond, CEO of anti-monarchy group Republic Graham Smith and lawyer and TalkTV contributor Paula Rhone-Adrien to discuss the recent conversations within the SNP of a potential future decision to distance themselves from the monarchy and become a republic.
Piers asks Alex if he would have made the same announcement during his time in office. While he thinks abolishing the monarchy could be a good idea, he believes it would be best to trial the reign of King Charles III for a few years first.
Graham heavily criticises the monarchy, suggesting that no one wants the Royal Family around anymore and people are becoming less interested. However Piers heatedly insists that the late Queen was the most respected person worldwide. Who do you agree with?

You can't let everyone speak unlimited on a show though. Then you have twice the showtime at least. I think he's doing a good job in general. Here in the Netherlands we don't have anyone who dares to speak up to anyone on national TV so this is what i rather watch. 😮😅 I do get what you mean though because he does shut conversations down sometimes.

I never thought anything of the monarchy, until we lost the Queen. The public were never reminded enough of what a woman The Queen was, that’s why people didn’t know her enough. If people took the time to see how much turmoil and at such a young age, she handled everything with grace. She had no choice what preceded her. the country has not been the same and I feel like something is missing since she passed.

I'm an American that enjoys watching the Royal Family/ Monarchy and their traditions( so many people have done away with traditions) their etiquette, their love of country ( except Harry) etc. The late Queen Elizabeth ll is and always will be awesome. American here. I love the “comfort blanket” (as Piers M described the RF) of the monarchy. People all over the world look up to the RF. There is a lot of meanness in the world. The RF is kind and dignified, supporting wonderful causes and charities. I think the UK is lucky to have the history, traditions and civility of the monarchy.

4.6 billion people are not a fantasy. 4.6 billion people watched out of respect and grief for a woman they knew their whole life. She was a comfort to many people. People lined up for days for that 1 second of seeing her laying in state. Many people had the same answer when asked why they were there. They were there for their parents and grandparents. That alone proves the respect and loyalty the queen showed to people. These people did the same for her. She spent 70 years looking out for people and they were willing to wait day's to show her the love she gave them. It isn't a fantasy. It's loyalty and respect.

As an American, I think that a monarchy couldn’t work here in America but it is a great system over there. It allows the politicians to focus on political things and the royal family to handle the social requirements of a country. They also do a lot of work for charity. They bring up “what if Andrew was oldest” but he isn’t. Charles is. And then it is William and there is no sign that he is an Andrew. After that is George and time will tell how he turns out but how about waiting to cross the bridge of an “Andrew” being the one to inherit till that time comes about. You’ve got about 75 years of reign in front of you without a sign of a bad head of state

I'm also an American and I 100% agree. I would NEVER support a monarchy in America, but Britain isn't America and America isn't Britain. The British monarchy is over 1100 years old and in modern times is almost entirely ceremonial. There's no point in having an elected head of state if he/she has no real political power, especially in a country like Britain where the monarchy is such a vital institution. It's also important to our alliance with Britain because as an apolitical institution, they serve to bridge the gap between our government and the British parliament in a way that creates unified support in both countries.
I'm from Canada and have never been interested in the Monarch until they've been attacked by the woke mob. Now I route for them. Thank you cancel culture for introducing me to a strong family I now respect and follow.

Since Mr. Smith has never been to the US, then he can't possibly fathom how shaken this country would be if suddenly the British monarchy went away. Truly, we probably wouldn't know what to do over here. I believe PM's and Presidents have agendas as they come and go! If there is a leader such as our late Queen who spreads compassion, peace, understanding, wisdom, dignity and grace...at the same time being apolitical yet a constant comfort, and we all need that of our leaders! As a Canadian I will still love the Monarchy and I'm patient and willing to see what our new King brings to the table!
I'd like to give Charles a chance since he hasn't really had one yet with all the division that Megan has brought to the UK, commonwealth and the RF!
I just wish all the leaders of all countries would stop putting money into these climate change (in the future) fears they try and push!

I'm an American, and while I generally prefer elected heads of state, I think it would be a terrible mistake for the British monarchy to be abolished. It's a vital part of British history and culture, and it's one of the things that sets them apart from us. In addition, because the British monarch's role is almost entirely symbolic, it makes little sense to replace that with an elected head of state whose role is also almost entirely symbolic, especially when it requires the scrapping of an 1100+ year old institution. In a parliamentary system, there's really no difference between a hereditary head of state and an elected one, at least when it comes to their role.

Then let it be important to Britain why do other countries who want to get out still have to be apart of it? I'm saying this as a Jamaican American. Jamaica is the only commonwealth country that isn't even allowed to visit England without a visa. Modern infrastructure on the island is done through deals with China to build the highways and a Mexican company runs and maintains the airports even though they're all the property of the Jamaican government. So why is the monarchy needed for an island like that?

I'm with you Piers and I'm an American - DEFEND THE QUEEN - even though I can't and wouldn't defend our President Biden - I think Queen Elizabeth was a woman of Grace and Peace - and I think the whole world is at a great loss without her voice. She was at her best in the worst and hardest of times. I love The Queen and always will - to me she was like the worlds grandmother for a long time. I'll never forget her.

I enjoy Piers when he acts civil. I don’t like shouting matches. Nobody truly wins. Watch piers being interviewed by Ben Shapiro 2 days ago and even though I am aware they share similar views on the subject of H and M it was nice to see a civil discourse with Piers involved that I could listen to without cringing. When he adds Tessa Dunlop to his commentator panel it becomes almost unbearable. I can tell he enjoys sparring with her and others who support H and M though!🤣🤣 Just my opinion and even with that opinion I will continue to watch when he covers HM and the Monarchy as he speaks what I believe is true.

Your Royal Monarchy has survived for over a Thousand years for a reason. Don’t give up on it now just because of a few bad apples it has in the family. The RF does wonderful work for the people. It’s a spurious argument to say “What if it had been Andrew or that it’s a lottery”. If Andrew had been the heir his upbringing and preparation would have been entirely different, just as Elizabeth had an entirely different preparation than her sister. Careful preparation for their future role has, almost entirely, been very effective in assuring that the future Monarch will be well able to occupy the position. Perhaps with the sad exception of Edward who was simply a weak individual and whose abdication, after the fact, was widely recognized as a fortuitous event , he would have made an abysmal King.
To be fair, the queen was only on 1 Aussie bank note .. the king's head will still be on all Aussie coins. As far as keeping the Monarchy goes, as I explained to my youngest nephew - as an Australian, born in Australia from a long line of people also born in Australia, no matter how clever you are, no matter how good a person you are, you can never ever be the person in charge of Australia because you were not a English child who is the first born child to one family who lives in country across the globe.

His job, as a journalist, isn't to be passionate about any particular subject, but to be impartial and weigh the facts: good or bad. He does this thing when he has guests on his show - when he agrees with them, he lets them drone on but when they disagree, he cuts them off, not allowing them to make their point. You people may love the queen all you want but yes its imagination. First of all she is one of the monarchs but she was not monarchy. Pierce avoids that argument through the whole interview. She happen to be OK possibly but we don't' know that since she had propaganda behind her for so long. Second she was institution. She had state propaganda behind her for 70 years! That's why she met all the presidents not because she was extraordinary and super smart but she did not have ruling term like all politician. It was twist of luck that she became queen at all since her uncle left and then her father died when she was really young and then she was blessed with very long life. That's it! They had 70 years to make an icon out of her. Stalin and Hitler managed to that in way shorter time but that doesn't make them good, does it? But even if all is true about her, she WAS NOT monarchy she was monarch. And you can see the difference now when she is gone where you have guy who lots of people don't like but still can't get rid of him.

What the fat fellow on the panel is arguing is that Scotland would not have the monarchy - a position he has shifted on, since he demanded we all have a referendum on Scottish independence in 2014 and told us all we would retain the monarchy! He essentially has ambitions to be in charge of Scotland himself - having bodged the job as first minister.
