Can we already assume that the 5070 will be worse than a 4070 super?
i mean it's not super
I had a little bit of faith in the 5070, at least I was thinking that NVIDIA has way better upscaling and RT technologies.
But if the 9070xt is as good as people claim, that should be the way to go if priced correctly.
I'm guessing at least 10% faster? So equals the 4070 Ti? That's my prediction.
@@Mayeloskiwait until amd prices their 9070xt above 5070 and everyone ignores amd again🤣. Amd should price their card 449$ for 9070 and 499$ for 9070xt. Or else they are losing everything this year too
@ hell nah, 4070 super is not an irrelevant uplift from the regular 4070 like the 4080 super, meaning that if the 5070 is 10% faster than the 4070, it would not beat even the 4070 super

@@PCgamerChannel I use RT mods. And mods obviously go past the recommended specifications and push a lot of VRAM. I’m a single player gamer so I’m actually good at playing at lower FPS, but the 4080 Super is perfectly capable of running these mods it just doesn’t have enough VRAM. I also want to play with 4K and PT. And I’m just used to 80-Class cards going above and beyond. But that’s only the 90 -class now. I’m too broke for that though. And I don’t see the 4090 prices going down anytime soon.
If you have a 4080 Super I wouldn't even THINK about upgrading to the 50 series. Just wait for 60 series. Upgrade every other generation, not every generation.

And everyone is acting like it’s a scam for giving you more card for the same price with new technologies implemented. Unless someone in the comments here has developed a process to mass manufacture 2-3nm nodes. We’re stuck with the same 4nm process.

1:07 Vex, this is not even a 4080 Ti at that point. A 4% performance increase, even on a Ti card would be hilarious before the disaster that was the Nvidia RTX 40 series.
Basically, what we're seeing is the results of an improvement on chip yields. They just have better yields on the TSMC fab line. A redesigned case is all that's new here.
What we are seeing is that Nvidia massively increase tensor core count and cuda cord count was stagnant. Why? Because Nvidia doesn't really care about making gaming GPU's anymore. They have gone all-in on AI, which is why AI performance massively increased while raster performance didn't increase much. They want to sell AI cards, not gaming cards. They're fine with their AI cards being able to run games though.
God imagine how AMD wanted the 9070 XT to be 899$ this is technological regression
I highly doubt they wanted to price the 9070 XT at that price. Don't always take rumors for the truth. It makes no sense they would price a card that is worse than the 7900 XTX for the same price. The 7900 XTX is going for 900 bucks here.
do you know that Bulgaria doesn't have $ currency? they have a different currency. how is the price in their currency converted to $899 which is US price? someone obviously said a blatant lie to damage AMD(how can this not damage them? it can.), and people like you believed it without even questioning it. since Bulgaria has different currency, you think they will put a price that if converted to $ = $899? nope. and yet you blindly believe it cause someone said it. so, if i say something similar about Nvidia, then it's the truth cause i said it. people these days are really weird.
@@Achiez-z Bulgaria don't have $ currency. how is the price $899 = US price? no one will price their product so that when it's converted to $ = $899. it would be an obscure number like $773.85. not $899. the leak wasn't even $899.48. it was exactly $899. i can smell the lie from miles away.

But multi frame generation mught be nice.
i got a brand new liquid cooled 4090 for about $1500ish back in september and the consensus online for the past few months up until like a week ago is that you’re an idiot if you bought a 40 series gpu regardless of the value since the 50 series was gonna blow it out of the water for cheaper
Awesome, what a deal mate.
Thank you for not making a 30 minute video , straight to the point.
The jump in raw performance cannot be greater because this generation is using 4 TSMC nanometers, which is simply an optimization of the 5 nanometers of the Ada architecture. To make a greater leap in power it would be necessary to go to 3 nm, but prices would go to the sky (imagine them even more expensive) and energy consumption and heat... not to mention. It is simply not economically viable for either the company or the user. That is why its design has been mainly focused on improving AI performance and the speed of VRAM memory (not in quantity, but in bandwidth). Unless a technological miracle occurs in the next few years, RAW PERFORMANCE IS DEAD.
Then they shouldn’t be making GPUs every 2 years but there greedy AF!
@@arturoreyes5220 I mean, this is something that happens with almost all technological products, like cell phones, etc. I think you are right, but even so there is a large, large number of consumers and enthusiasts who every two years also want results.

There was no process node shrink this generation. So a large generational uplift shouldn't be expected. Although, the extra memory bandwidth not giving more of a boost over the 4080 Super is a bit confusing.
Yeah, all things being equal, TDP, memory bandwidth and capacity, Shading multiprocessors, clock frequency, all being the same, the 5000 series seems to be worse than the 4000 series.. Right now have a 3060. Looking at the specs for the 5000 series can 100% understand why many aren't to thrilled with the next gpu's. However taking into consideration the raw performance it is an upgrade from my current gpu that I'm hoping to switch out with the 5080. If I can get my hands on the FE edition. I'm afraid that not getting a 5080 FE edition the retail price of the cards from the third party manufactures will be far too expensive... Is it worth it?
Everybody talking about how this isn't good enough to upgrade from a 4080 but I'm over here with my 9 year old 1070ti and this is the first card that makes me want to upgrade. I'm so done with 1080p sub 60fps and this should last another 10 years.
Honestly kind of a good thing. Game hardware requirements are going to stay basically stagnant. Totally reasonable to skip this gen if you have a 3080 or better.
only problem with my 3080 is VRAM. But honestly, so far, its non-issue. Even the super VRAM hungry Indiana jones runs very well on 3080... what a super boring game it is, glad I got it for free, ehm.
bro vex how many kidneys do you have left
I think he said he was a mutant or something with 3 kidneys.
I recently built my first pc keeping in mind the rtx 5000 for 4k gaming, should i still go with this?
maybe only if you intend to get a 5090 for a reasonable price, the 5080 may not be worth it since it’ll probably be over msrp and you’re not future proofed with that
This is what happens when the competition is not competing at all
well.. AMD top cards are basically same perf as 5080 in raster and have more VRAM...
I’m still with my RTX 2070 I really want the 50 series. Worth update ?
Yikes that is dumb i aint spending 1000 for litteraly no improvement
You shouldn't even spend 1000$ for any gpu.
@@vicente3k fair XD
I currently have a GTX 1070 and want to finally upgrade this year. Do you think a 5080 is a good option for someone like me? Keep in mind that a) I want to use it for both gaming and game development in EU5, and b) I want to future proof as much as possible.
Sometimes I just wish Elon Musk or Bill Gates start creating GPU chips to put Nvidia to rest. Plus their pricing would be better.
Nah get Elon to be Nvidia's CEO so he can singlehandedly destroy their valuation like he did with Twitter
I trust Nokia, Senheisser, Kodak, Alstom, Bombardier, Toshiba, Kingston, Western Digital waaaay more individually to create optimal price to performance GPUs than Elon or Bill Gates.
Commenting on a few places but is this worth the upgrade from the 4070 super ? I still have my return window date open so...idk, just need clearance. Its a shame how Nvidia just pull this kinda crap. Might aswell get the 7900xtx.
My top picks:
-7900GRE 16gb
-7900XTX 24gb
-4070Ti Super 16gb
I bought a 4080S last year on sale only because it was only $100 more than the 4070Ti Super I was looking at and the 4080S Zotac card was white so it fit my build. You didn't specify what resolution your are playing at or what games you play but if I was you I would send the 4070S back for a 4070Ti Super 16gb. The 7900GRE is also a great card and with a slight Mem overclock you can hit 7900XT level performance which is easy to do in Adrenalin software. Only down side with Radeon 7000 series cards is their excessive power consumption especially when you have multiple monitors hooked up.
You really don't have many options sadly, I would go 4070Ti Super for the 16gb of Vram but if you want to spring for the extra the 4080S is also an option, notice I never used the word decent or value.. Its simply an option.
Nvidia will try to scam if you let them
"Fake generation" is the key selling point from Nvidia.
wow they released a 4080s over clocked. LUL
I'm trying to upgrade from a 2080 - mostly for 3D work: the RTX allows decent real time ray traced GPU renders, but doesn't really take advantage of the DLSS or Frame Gen (I'm happy with the 2080's performance in 1440p gaming - not playing the latest titles). I think I'll try to find a clean second hand 4080 Super.
For someone who was looking to upgrade from a cheaper 200$ graphics card to a 4080 super would you recommend picking this up or another card? I don’t really wanna go over 1,000$ in budget and from how it’s looking that might be a possibility with the 5080$ despite the original marketing.
You could wait for the 9070xt. We don't know price but should be around $600 for about 4080S perf3
4070Ti Super 16gb is an option, notice I never used the words decent or value.. Its an option.
buying a 4090 instead would be an option if the prices were comparable at all. Brand new 4090 is still > €2000 here in europe, and i'm not really interested in taking a gamble on a 2nd hand GPU.
I'm looking at doing a new build and all the information on the 50 series has me at a loss. My desktop runs a 2070 and my laptop a 4070 (with all those laptop edition performance hits). I honestly regret the laptop a bit, I'm more of a build your own desktop kinda guy, was just traveling a lot at the time.
Having not built since the 20 series I can't imagine the 5070 Ti (which is what I'm eyeing) wouldn't be a massive upgrade over my current kit regardless of the 50 series vs 40 series comparisons? I don't know...
5070 ti will be fine at least it's cheaper than the 4070tiS.
50 series is a dissapointing gen but at least unlike the 40 series there's no major regressions or decreasing in frames per dollar.
Expect the 5070ti to be roughly 3x as faster in raster performance as the 2070
I'm surprised they didn't at least match, or get within 10% of the 4090. That just seems like a no brainer
in my case, im planning to go for 5080 from 3080 10gbs, still a W right?
Yes good decision
Dont know im still on 3080 but i dont think its worth it for me im playing at 4k ultra always
If you really need to upgrade then grab a 2nd hand 4080/4080S. 4x FG plus a tiny performance uplift for worse temp and power consumption is not worth it to pay the price for a brand new 5080.
Dont think so
4080 for cheapo maybe? 7900xtx? Dont feed this please
So i have never built a pc and this is my first time.. i have a LG32gsue monitor, CPU-9800x3d, MB- Strix 870e gaming.. as far as the GPU,is the 5080 a good choice for someone not upgrading? And Secondly, is the FE models a one time grab, meaning if you don’t get tomorrow you can’t get one later or does the stock get replenished
Hey Vex. Will you be testing Spider-Man 2? It comes out on PC tomorrow. Or Spider-Man Remastered? Or Spider-Man Miles Morales?
i have a 3060 is upgrading to the 50 series good or should i go for the 40 series just a question
How can you have a new series launch AND SUPPLY IS IN A DEFICIT. Did they sell 10k cards to A.I company's?
