I totally agree with what is said in this video. Here is the thing, everyone asks about Cremation, but why don't people ever ask about embalming? Don't people stop and think about what embalming is? Embalming involves removing the blood out of the body and then filling the body with poison known as embalming fluid. While this process may keep the body looking better for a while it is also defiling it. The bottom line is, give your heart to Jesus, and he will give you a new body on resurrection day! Now that is a good deal!
God's word says from dust we were made and to dust we will go. Neither burial nor cremation matters. God is able to remake us and reunite us with our souls that do go be with Him at death. That will be at the final resurrection. PTL!
Thank you so much for this! I lost my wife a week ago. She requested cremation. I'm sure with her kind, gentle, selfless heart, that she did that with the thought of making this as simple as possible for us to go through this painful experience. I can only hope and trust that the Lord know's her and our hearts here. There were no thoughts whatsoever of mocking God. The last thing anyone needs in a time like this is to have guilt piled upon them. We love you Lord!
It’s my faith that is important! Bodies rot anyway dust to dust. God can review anything. Some people are cremated in fires. When I’m dead my body is no use to me .
As noted in the bible: The main reason it was not done in the past is due to the amount of resources it would take to cremate a body IE: wood 1 Samuel 31:12 King James Version (KJV) 12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
I think many families choose this method due to cost for the family. Many without insurance or who are in a financial situation must chose this way. Just my opinion.
The earliest biblical reference to a burial relates to Abraham and his family members. Abraham received from God promises of blessing and inheritance, which were to be fulfilled due to the arrival (in the distant future) of the Redeemer. In general, the Scriptures show that all relations of God with Abraham to one degree or another contained an element of redemption. God promised him land, but (contrary to popular belief) it was not just about Canaan, because he had never inherited it. In reality, Abraham was promised the New Heaven and the New Earth - i.e. all blessings are in Christ. By righteousness, Abraham and all his spiritual descendants from faith will inherit the whole world, the whole earth (Rom. 4:13). The narration of the book of Genesis shows us that Abraham received only a tiny bit from the Canaanite land - a place for burial. There he was buried, his wife Sarah, as well as Rebekah, James, and Leah (Genesis 23, 49:31). Thus, the acquisition of this “family crypt” was actually an act of faith. Abraham hoped for God's promised bodily resurrection. The hope of bodily resurrection is also seen in Joseph's testament to transfer his bones to the Promised Land (Gen. 20:25; Heb. 11:22) when the sons of Israel return from Egypt (this happened 400 years later). What was the point of “moving” Joseph's bones from Egypt to the Promised Land? Would he, the dead, care? But Joseph taught his brothers that there is a “greater promised land” that he will inherit after the resurrection of soul and body - the New Earth and the New Heaven. What the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews spoke of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he also refers to Joseph: Heb. 11: 8-16).burial is also presented as an act of faith in Jewish funeral practice, as we see in the gospels. Perhaps the most instructive example (apart from the burial of our Lord) is the story of the death and resurrection of Lazarus. So, in short, the burial of the body of a believer is in the most literal sense a great act of faith. And we must use it. No matter what is said in the discussions on the topic of “burial or cremation,” we know for sure: burial is inseparable from church practice in a historical aspect. For many centuries of the New Testament era, thousands of churches preferred to have their own burial sites. Such church cemeteries served the purpose of reminder. This was visible evidence that Christians buried there once served God and are now waiting for the resurrection. The bones of these believers rest in the earth, as if in anticipation of "awakening." Although Scripture does not state anywhere that cremation is a sin, the Bible gives us enough reason to perceive in the burial a great act of faith. And every demonstration of faith is something that we must follow and that we must love. May God, by His grace, encourage us to learn from those great Christians who have come their way before us.
Cremation is cheaper. That's the main thing for me. I tell my wife, "I don't care if you chop this body up & flush it down the toilet. It's just a container." It's refreshing to hear a preacher give permission for us to cremate. Most try to discourage the practice, but they never give very good reasons for doing so.
All bodies buried thousands of years ago are dust! That's what cremation is its dust just much quicker! It's just our meat suit ifs not our spirit or soul! When we die we are present with the lord no matter what happens to our bodies!!!
Carol Green Is this also your stance on organ donors? _for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return._ Dismembered, burned, scarred and so on will not hinder your salvation. On ressurection day God will provide us with heavenly bodies.
Your body is merely a husk. When you pass it is only so much dead weight. Your soul is what counts and that passes on. Your soul sees the white light. Your soul walks with Jesus and gets judged. Your body is left behind. After many years in the trades my physical body is worn out. I live in pain every day. I cannot imagine a heaven where I would have to continue to go through with that.
I made my decision to be cremated after the Katrina Flooding, when I watched how the caskets were floating from out the ground. Some people told me that they were from a Pet Cemetry but I don't care...its mt freewill to be cremated.
We have run out of land where people require to be buried. The body is going to be returned to the dust anyway. The Lord is going to resurrect us as well. God has His ways. Whether we cremate or bury, He can restore our bodies! God Bless xxx
Peace from your cousin, another of Abraham's children, from a Muslim background. Unfortunately we are told that your soul is witnessing the whole process after its departure from the body, also the body feels double the pain of anything that you do to it. The body can hear people leaving it in the grave. Not sure what our Jewish cousins do, still have to do research on their way, but according to all messengers from GOD our creator non has been burnt, rather all of them have been buried in earth. So we should respect our dead and give them comfort by means of prayers and charity in their name. May GOD our creator show us the straight path, path that leads to him and the path that is most pleasing to him. Ameen
There are alot of people who are poor and can't afford a burial... cremation is ok because God will bring all to judgement and I believe God can bring all back rather it be Dust or Ashes !! The Bible says dust to dust and ashes to ashes!!!!
My sister died a few years ago right in the middle of COVID and we did not have the money to pay for a funeral, in fact we had to borrow money for the cremation. So our decision was financially based
I would prefer cremation because I don't like the fact that a body will rot, decay, be food for worms and maggots, and eventually become a dirty skeleton. Sure it wouldn't bother me after death, but I consider cremation self respect to myself knowing that I'd be ashes instead of the buried alternative. If only there is a way to be perfectly preserved while being and looking the same before I died.
The body can be used in a HOMECOMING celebration. Often unsaved will get a close up look on eternity. An urn does not capture the death. I feel God created this body and we need to be a good steward and take care of it. Let God bring it back to dust in His time and way. He will put back together no matter the condition of the body when He resurrects it. When I was saved I was bought with a price. I do not belong to myself.
Exactly. Cremation denies the natural process of death and decay which symbolizes the effects of sin on mankind. And it isn't a question of whether GOD can resurrect us, but of respect for the body He has created.
“In the sweat of your face shall youi eat bread, till youi return unto the ground; for out of it were youi taken: for dust you [are], and unto dust shall you return.” Genesis 3:19 NMV
great scripture, I feel it allows for either a burial or cremation. As in either case the body returns to dust. One speeds up the process (cremation), while the other prolongs (burial with or without embalming)
Agreed. Cremation shows disrespect for the body GOD created. Even Job said, "Though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see GOD." Indicates burial, not burning. We have no right to speed up the natural process.
I would say that this is explained partially. He so much emphasized the eternal life of the spirit, that there was but only the slightest mention of burial, and of the sacred view of Scripture toward the sanctity of the physical body, which God created, and the many examples in Scripture of burial, and respect for the body. My brother died, and we buried him last year. We knew his wishes for not fussing over him, but still gave him a burial. The cemetery said that the pagan view was as little to do with burial as possible, and the long standing tradition of burial was the most biblical view. An honest reading of the Bible sets the example of the best way to honor our Creator as well as the deceased is a proper burial in the ground.
I totally agree. In my spirit, I do not ever wish to be cremated. They can give me the cheapest burial there is. Just don't burn me up in this originally pagan way. I believe it's also a form of respect and value we give to the physical body the Lord has lent to us, while on earth, we are still the temple of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus was buried in a tomb and God himself buried Moses, then I believe they are worthy of being emulated as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Can you provide a scriputural example or 2 of your claim? You say 'an honest reading of the Bible, shows that proper burial is the best way to honor our Creator, as well as the deceased.' I'm genuinely interested. thanks
Handling the HOLY BIBLE as per our own will would be a great sin for, firstly we should humbly study the Bible and ask the Lord in our prayer. According to our history, burning the dead body was taught by the devil against the wills of God. I don't mean that cremation is unspiritual, but we as a children's of God our life activities must be according to the Holy words of GOD, not ours. Here I thanked Sir, FRANSZ BROKER for his true biblicaly teaching given in comment. Many of us doesn't even know how to pray, yet contradict the Bible.nowadays many preacher preaches as per His or her intention, that is the great sin we are committing.
Actually the Bible reveals much more about creation than this pastor has said. Here is an excerpt from one of my sermons: The Bible never directly addresses the subject anymore than it addresses the subject of movies, internet sites, and speed limits. But God has given us as believers some timeless principles to discern what would please Him the most. In the Bible, there is never a single person who is ever cremated. In Scripture, fire is used in God’s judgment process and so God as a God of justice and purity is described as a “consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29). In the Old Testament, God’s people were always buried with only two exceptions. In 1 Samuel 31, Saul and Jonathan’s bodies were so badly mutilated by the Philistines that in order to transport the body with dignity burned the flesh off their bodies but then carried their bones to Jabesh and buried them there. The only other exception is in Joshua 7 when Achan and his family after being stoned to death were burned with fire symbolic of God’s judgment. Fire is repeatedly associated in Scripture with God’s judgment. In Leviticus 10 God destroyed Nadab and Abihu with fire for their sin (10:1&2). In Numbers 16 those who were insubordinate to Moses were destroyed by fire (16:1-3, 35). 2 Peter 3:12 informs us that God’s final judgment on planet earth will be to burn the planet with fire before He creates a new one. And of course Revelation 20:15 tells us that the final abode of the lost will be in that place known as, “the lake of fire.” And so it seems inconsistent for Bible believers who have been saved from the judgment of fire to use fire to dispose of their bodies at death. In addition, it is worth noting that every believer in the Old Testament apart from these two exceptions, and every believer in the New Testament with no exceptions were always buried and never cremated. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph were all buried. Lazarus was buried as was John the Baptist. Ananias and Sapphira, though disobedient believers, they were still buried. And I suppose one of the most telling passages in all the Scripture is when God the Father Himself performs a funeral for Moses. (Deuteronomy 34:6) 6 And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day. Interestingly, cremation was started here in the United States by Unitarians who denied the infallibility of the Bible with its miracles in the Bible like the resurrection from the dead. Unitarians up in New England used cremation to mock Bible believing Christians over their doctrine of the resurrection of the body. For this reason most Christians in this country in the 19th century and for most of the 20th century were repulsed by cremation because they associated with Unitarians who openly defied the resurrection. Unfortunately today, in the biblically illiterate evangelical church, it is a non issue for most Christians in America. Not to mention that the Unitarian voice is small and most do not think of their arrogance, defiance, and unbelief when considering cremation. But cremation denies that biblical metaphor and only burial can fulfill it. One positive of burial without cremation is that it does picture Christ's own death, His burial, and ultimately His resurrection. So the preponderance of the biblical record would argue for burial. Now I recognize that many here may have cremated their loved ones and if you did please don’t be concerned because it will not be a problem for God at the resurrection of the dead. God will call from the grave those who have been turned to dust, those who have been turned to gas in a fire, those who have been eaten at sea. Please understand, it is not a problem for God for He shall raise the dead of all time. However, if you are going to bury your dead, then do it God’s way.
Cremation is barbaric I've lost my adult daughter and son yr half apart the thought of burning them was never in my mind I've buried them together I didn't give birth to them have yrs with them then burn them in an oven no more better than what Hitler did only he gassed people utter disgrace
It does not matter what you choose ,God as your soul, just think Jezebel was eaten by dogs and many lost at sea, also many die in fires, but God as are DNA
Hey, Muslim here just looking for answers. All the Abrahamic religions practice is almost the same. Modern cremation chamber came into existence in the 1870s. Since then plagues and wars needed a quick solution and the number of chambers grew. I firmly believe the spiritual answer given is absolutely perfect but now due to climate change, we need to practice burials more as its environment-friendly practice.
The difference between cremation and burial is that cremation is quick and clean, while burial is a gross rotting away of the body. A buried body in a box slowly rots and putrefies over twenty to fifty years and smells really bad; within a year or two, the body looks like the worst horror movie monster that you’ve ever seen, and it takes up a lot of space that the living need to live their lives. A cremated body reduces the body to a grainy ash in about three hours, and doesn’t take up any space, you can keep the remains or scatter them to the wind. Modern cremation doesn’t pollute the air, but burial pollutes the ground. The question you need to ask yourself is: do you want your loved ones to slowly rot in a reeking box, or do you want to spare them that indignity…
EXACTLY. "Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing." "In the resurrection, people...will be as the angels in Heaven." Jesus Christ gives the answers, but many Christians don't seem to hear. A friend died on the operating table once. And before being resuscitated, he had a conversation with God. His first question was, "What should be done with the dead body?" And he was told: "Burn it. It is no longer of use." I am a prophet of God; the prophesied return of Elijah. I've been given all of the answers to share. Seek and ye shall find. (I don't receive UA-cam comment notifications so that I correspond only with true seekers, who will easily find me and my material.)
If you examine it biblically, Jews and Christians buried their dead perhaps to symbolically show not only respect for what was once the Temple of the Holy Spirit, but also to show the future resurrection of the body. In the Bible all the instances where a body was burned we're all negative instances and we have the example of God buring Moses, Jesus being buried and Paul being buried in the Bible...Ananias and his wife were both buried. Stephen was buried. Burying the body is symbolic of our belief in God's resurrection of the body as if we were just asleep. If we baptised as a symbol of our sins being buried in a watery grave, why wouldn't it be important to glorify God through this practice for those left behind as well?
A funeral director told me if people watched a cremation, they would never choose it. It is desecration of the body GOD created. It has nothing to do with His ability to raise us again from the dead. It's about respect for what He created. I find it ironic that those who believe in cremation balk at the idea of doing it to a dead child.
Thank you for the information Cremation Cremation my mother some Pastor said it's wrong for christians Cremation Had no money to bury my mother so commission was cheaper for me my mom want to Creama
sure but some people ared burned to the point that there are no remains. Like an explosion. The point is these people are still given a ressurection on Judgement Day.
I have a fear that my spirit will return to my dead body when I am buried and I will suffocate to death again so I want to make sure that my spirit has no body to return to. So I chose cremation.
Was not King Saul and his son cremated. Didn't the Jews burn the bodies least they fell into the hands of the Philistines. Greetings from Northern Ireland.
what is the correct way to handle the ashes? if i want my ashes to be spread in the ocean can i? ive been told the ashes must be in an urn and must tbe buried.....
I was always under the impression that the spirit will be wrapped in an immortal body, not the sin corrupted one we live in for the length of our lives. That and people die in a variety of ways that don't leave intact bodies, so cremation should be a practical way to dispose of a body that no longer serves a purpose. The spirit is asleep somewhere else until we return.
As a bible believer I try not to ever declare a matter as truth if I really am unsure. I can think, guess or desire something be truth but when it comes to Fearing God first leading to a desire for complete Obedience to God 2nd leading to eternal life third I cannot afford to be deceived or led astray by mere men's opinions of what God can or cannot do. Not much is more dangerous than assumptions when eternity is at stake.
Nothing will be used from the old body. God keeps an image of your personality in its most perfect form and that will contain your resurrected self. Not needing food, sleep, gender or any flaws that is subject to the human physical body.
I was wondering about this, as a Roman Catholic; I was wondering if cremation is ok. I guess like how I don’t want to be an organ donor, because I don’t like the idea of my organs living beyond myself, I was thinking cremation, because I don’t really like the idea of my body still existing when I’m already gone. Plus, seems kind of boring to have one’s body just rot away in the soil. I kind of like the idea, where maybe after I’m cremated, maybe they can send my ashes to Mars; that would be exciting :D Well, thank God I’m only 34 (turn 35 on Dec 23, in 13 days), so I still have a lifetime to think about it :D
Like I’m hoping we just go to Heaven. Dear Lord, what if we do return to our bodies once the Lord returns, and I had myself cremated and sent to Mars? Everyone also is on Earth meeting the Lord and I’m sending an SOS for someone to come to Mars to pick me up? :3 Edit: **Thinking to self** Getting off Mars, just follow Matt Damon’s steps of survival :3
Skeletons don’t perish . Your body his temple . Provide book chapter and verse that supports cremation ! Jesus body was laid in a borrowed tomb then resurrected !! Matthew 27:57-61
So being purified by fire and becoming clean ash is somehow more disrespectful to the body than being devoured by maggots, bugs and becoming a horrifying putrid bloated stinking rotting meatbag, ok.
It falls under the Romans chapter (I think its 15 but probably wrong) where Paul talks about that there are some believes that has nothing to do with our salvation and that as long as it is honoring to God, do it.
God says, “Ashes to ashes, dust back to dust” Our bodies were taken from the ground, and shall return to the ground- whether by burial or cremation. A true Christian does not see decay. Jesus said to the man on the cross, “TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.” They did not take their bodies with them- we have proof of that. Jesus needed to preserve His because, lol, He needed it back. That will not be the case for us. SO WHY would you leave your family with a financial burden they can’t afford? The population today is much different than then. The land should be for the living, not the dead. “I’m sorry” says mom, “we can’t live on that land, or that one, or that one, no schools or playgrounds because that land is reserved for burying the dead.” “Then where do we live, work, and play mommy?” “We can’t sweetheart.” Do you see how ridiculous? You can still have a funeral with ashes, and remember the love of that person. “If you surrender your body to flames, but have not love, then you gain nothing.” I’ve lost my childhood teeth, some nail clippings, and cut hair, I even have my umbilical cord reserved just for you. I give you my body parts so that you can remember me. (ridiculous) We are not our bodies, but rather IN our bodies, and someday when we die our souls will come out of our bodies- just as we come out of a car it truck. Our bodies are just a temporary vehicle in this life. (1 Samual 31:12).
Ash to ash dust to dust. All bodies will go back to ash and dust. Cremation or Buried body will both waste away and become "dust". It is not the body that will be raised and be in Heaven!
The Holy Bible does speak of cremation. In the Old Testament God is angered with Israel for burning the bones of the King. As well in the Old Testament burning of the body is always tied to judgement. The Israelis burned their children to moloch a false god.
I didn't understand that comment either. Obviously we're already gone, not in those bodies. However, if God raises our bodies then what other body or us would there be? Confusing. Don't know the denominational affiliation or their beliefs, so many strange doctrines out there. The Bible is my source, gotta be like the Bereans in Acts check every sermon, teaching by the Word. Even the most experienced, God-fearing, and knowledgeable persons make mistakes. Keep checking, and re-checking God's word prayerfully.
It is interesting that some of the people in the Catholic church who achieved sainthood like St. Bernadette of Lourdes, were not embalmed but when the bodies were disinterred, they had not suffered any decay. A number of the saints have incorruptible bodies. So why would God do that unless the temple of our bodies does have some importance?
I prefer to bury in a cemetery. tho in my culture, most pple bury on family land. I hate graves. tho its believed to be respect, the bible says that the dead have no more affiliations with the living.
My God can put the ashes of my body together if he wants we are made from dirt soooo I don't care what happens to mine . I told my son long ago don't bury me it cost too much take the money and ball out 😂
Luke 9:60 (paraphrased) Christ Jesus had instructed and said, "Let the dead (spiritually dead but physically alive) BURY their own dead (physically dead)."... it is clearly stated not to CREMATE but to bury the dead body unless there was a contagious disease that will cause the epidemic/pandemic to the nation and also unless the person has no financial capabilities to apply proper burial lots and services to their dead love ones... then, with God's kind understanding of "reason" which is unlimited, God allowed cremation. God does not like the smell of burnt dead bodies (flesh and blood corpses), that is why God stopped Abraham upon knowing his true faith from killing his only son Isaac to be burnt for God... In the Book of Ezekiel, God allowed to "BURN" the dry bones,... why?...specifically "DRY" Bones because it has no more Flesh and Blood attached to them...
The scriptures say that all who take the mark will be unredeemable and thrown into the lake of fire. With the God can do anything mentality he could change a person back to redeemable but clearly that is not the case. Be careful what you ascribe to God's abilities over his very clear word
What about the people burned alive in 911 there all kinds of faith if they believed u think because there was no body to bury the lord will send them to hell.if we bury every person on this earth where r you going to live.there r poor people of faith that can't afford to be buried 😢 the funeral homes have made it impossible to bury these days.
Folks, trust the word not any man read verses like, Amos 2:1 and do a word study on fire and see how God views all this and what is fire compared to burial a picture of.
Where in the Bible does it say there is going to be a resurrection of the body? I believe if what happens to the body after death was important Jesus would have made sure to mention that fact. It would not have gotten missed you would have been told exactly what to do with a body 🙂
I can't be the only one hoping to be buried (cremated or not) in a very pretty place, with my family so that when I rise I can check who's coming with me haha
I totally agree with what is said in this video. Here is the thing, everyone asks about Cremation, but why don't people ever ask about embalming? Don't people stop and think about what embalming is? It doesn't matter if you were buried or cremated. God can still raise you up when Jesus comes.

Assuming you're one of the chosen to be raised up.
God's word says from dust we were made and to dust we will go. Neither burial nor cremation matters. God is able to remake us and reunite us with our souls that do go be with Him at death. That will be at the final resurrection. PTL!

GOD BLESD
God can do anything including glorifying a cremated body.
God keeps track of every particle of ash.
At the end of the day , the only opinion that matters is The Most High's opinion . Many believers twist Scriptures to solidify their point .
It’s my faith that is important! Bodies rot anyway dust to dust. God can review anything. Some people are cremated in fires. When I’m dead my body is no use to me .
God will know what to do. Do not question God...God can do anything. He is a good and be at peace with Him.
As noted in the bible: The main reason it was not done in the past is due to the amount of resources it would take to cremate a body IE: wood
1 Samuel 31:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

Well at least pagans don't use their religion as an excuse to dictate how people should live.
Very wrong. The pagans burned their babies. We live in a symbolic world. You probably worship on Sunday anyway don’t matter. You’re not saved

I like the rationalization of the notion that you are merely accelerating turning to body to dust. You may have tipped me in a direction. Bless you
If we claim to believe that GOD can do anything, we should not doubt that GOD can put us back together again if GOD wants to when we're resurrected.

Thank you so much for clearing this up
Paul speaks of our bodies as temporal like a tent.
This topic is so difficult to explain here in India. Thank you for doing this topic
Still Christian burial is preferred over pagan/scientific ways.
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.our body is just a vessel. We won't need it anymore.
Thank you. People need to know
Thank you !!! I truly needed an answer to that question. However, my bigger question is it ok to have the cremations in your home ?
It is not. They need to be at a graveyard.
You can put it in church cemetery ☺
“In the sweat of your face shall youi eat bread, till youi return unto the ground; for out of it were youi taken: for dust you [are], and unto dust shall you return.”
Genesis 3:19 NMV
great scripture, I feel it allows for either a burial or cremation. As in either case the body returns to dust. One speeds up the process (cremation), while the other prolongs (burial with or without embalming)
Still Christian burial is preferred over pagan/scientific ways.
Agreed. Cremation shows disrespect for the body GOD created. Even Job said, "Though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see GOD." Indicates burial, not burning. We have no right to speed up the natural process.
My loved ones wanted cremation, they didn’t like the idea of rotting away in a grave.
Here is an excerpt from one of my sermons:
The Bible never directly addresses the subject anymore than it addresses
the subject of movies, internet sites, and speed limits.
But God has given us as believers some timeless principles
to discern what would please Him the most.
In the Bible, there is never a single person who is ever cremated.
In Scripture, fire is used in God’s judgment process and so God as a God
of justice and purity is described as a “consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29).
In the Old Testament, God’s people were always buried
with only two exceptions.
In 1 Samuel 31, Saul and Jonathan’s bodies were so badly mutilated
by the Philistines that in order to transport the body with dignity
burned the flesh off their bodies but then carried their bones to
Jabesh and buried them there.
The only other exception is in Joshua 7 when Achan and his family
after being stoned to death were burned with fire symbolic of
God’s judgment.
Fire is repeatedly associated in Scripture with God’s judgment.
In Leviticus 10 God destroyed Nadab and Abihu with fire
for their sin (10:1&2).
In Numbers 16 those who were insubordinate to Moses were
destroyed by fire (16:1-3, 35).
2 Peter 3:12 informs us that God’s final judgment on planet earth
will be to burn the planet with fire before He creates a new one.
And of course Revelation 20:15 tells us that the final abode
of the lost will be in that place known as, “the lake of fire.”
And so it seems inconsistent for Bible believers who have been
saved from the judgment of fire to use fire to dispose of their bodies at death.
In addition, it is worth noting that every believer in the Old Testament
apart from these two exceptions, and every believer in the New Testament with no exceptions were always buried and never cremated.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph were all buried.
Lazarus was buried as was John the Baptist.
Ananias and Sapphira, though disobedient believers,
they were still buried.
And I suppose one of the most telling passages in all the Scripture is
when God the Father Himself performs a funeral for Moses.
(Deuteronomy 34:6)
6 And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day.
Interestingly, cremation was started here in the United States
by Unitarians who denied the infallibility of the Bible with its miracles
in the Bible like the resurrection from the dead.
Unitarians up in New England used cremation to mock Bible believing
Christians over their doctrine of the resurrection of the body.
For this reason most Christians in this country in the 19th century and
for most of the 20th century were repulsed by cremation because they
associated with Unitarians who openly defied the resurrection.
Unfortunately today, in the biblically illiterate evangelical church,
it is a non issue for most Christians in America.
Not to mention that the Unitarian voice is small and most do not think
of their arrogance, defiance, and unbelief when considering cremation.
But cremation denies that biblical metaphor and only burial can fulfill it.
One positive of burial without cremation is that it does picture Christ's
own death, His burial, and ultimately His resurrection.
So the preponderance of the biblical record would argue for burial.
Now I recognize that many here may have cremated their loved
ones and if you did please don’t be concerned because it will not be a
problem for God at the resurrection of the dead.
God will call from the grave those who have been turned to dust, those
who have been turned to gas in a fire, those who have been eaten at sea.
Please understand, it is not a problem for God for He shall raise
the dead of all time.
However, if you are going to bury your dead, then do it God’s way.

Spot on. Love the lengthy explanation. God Bless u.
so what's all this about being buried with your feet to the East ?
This one is very important now specially with covid-19 around thankyou. I know now that my father will now rest in peace. Please pray for him
I'm terrified of being buried alive. It seems cremation may be the best option to ease my mind.
Or burned alive*
What about when jesus said let the dead bury the dead
Cremation is barbaric I've lost my adult daughter and son yr half apart the thought of burning them was never in my mind I've buried them together I didn't give birth to them have yrs with them then burn them in an oven no more better than what Hitler did only he gassed people utter disgrace
The actual process of dying is barbaric! But, it is what it is! (I hate this saying! But, it fits)
Jesus said: "The Flesh Profits Nothing." (John 6:63)
Absolutely. We are not greater than God and His ways.
SAUL/PAUL was burned but he was still put into the ground.
sure but some people ared burned to the point that there are no remains. Like an explosion. The point is these people are still given a ressurection on Judgement Day.
I have a fear that my spirit will return to my dead body when I am buried and I will suffocate to death again so I want to make sure that my spirit has no body to return to. So I chose cremation.
What about believers who passed 2000 years ago?
Was not King Saul and his son cremated. Didn't the Jews burn the bodies least they fell into the hands of the Philistines. Greetings from Northern Ireland.
Their bodies were already desicrated
1st Samuel 31 vs 12.. yes
what is the correct way to handle the ashes? if i want my ashes to be spread in the ocean can i? ive been told the ashes must be in an urn and must tbe buried.....
Another great answer.
I kind of like the idea, where maybe after I’m cremated, maybe they can send my ashes to Mars; that would be exciting :D
Well, thank God I’m only 34 (turn 35 on Dec 23, in 13 days), so I still have a lifetime to think about it :D
Edit: **Thinking to self** Getting off Mars, just follow Matt Damon’s steps of survival :3
Sin means violation of divine law. It is not mentioned. What about those lost at sea burned at the stake, wars etc...
Skeletons don’t perish . Your body his temple . Provide book chapter and verse that supports cremation ! Jesus body was laid in a borrowed tomb then resurrected !! Matthew 27:57-61
So being purified by fire and becoming clean ash is somehow more disrespectful to the body than being devoured by maggots, bugs and becoming a horrifying putrid bloated stinking rotting meatbag, ok.
so is YES or NO?
+Yielded Brother It's an "it doesn't really matter" because the way that our physical forms are destroyed plays no relevance in the resurrection
+John Cox Correct, but if we are being cremated as defiance, then that's not good. It is the defiance though rather than the cremation that is bad
Oh. If that was what he was asking, then I agree with you.
It falls under the Romans chapter (I think its 15 but probably wrong) where Paul talks about that there are some believes that has nothing to do with our salvation and that as long as it is honoring to God, do it.
Fire belongs with the devil.
The people in the comment section saying we must be buried and not cremated are idiots who doubt gods power to ressurect the soul!
My mom said that the Bible says to be cremated.
Overkill Maximus . Our body is a shell it's the Spirit that goes on for ever in Jesus House being with God in glory.
2:30 There you go, Said it well there. Your body will be dust anyway, sooner or later.
Heck Christians were eating by lions in the arena ....Not a pretty thing"
The Holy Bible does speak of cremation. In the Old Testament God is angered with Israel for burning the bones of the King. As well in the Old Testament burning of the body is always tied to judgement.
The Israelis burned their children to moloch a false god.
God will raise us from the dead.....not fromm where we are?
Catholic occultic fraudulent and unsubstantiated claims.
2:40 says it all
For anyone who is unsure about their salvation please check out Renee Roland on UA-cam, it really is all about Jesus!!
Remember though art dust, and into to dust ,thy shalt return !
Cremation is OK, we came from dirt. Consider those eaten by fish or animals and turned into poop bones scattered around, dismembered by explosion etc.
He who defiles his body will be destroyed. No one mentions that verse.
Angli Angeli What does that verse teach?
Angli Angeli amen
That has to do with tattoos. Read the book of Deuteronomy chapter 28 I think...
How can you defile your body if you are dead. It means while you are living, tattoos, piercings, sex objects, face lifts, butt implants etc.
If I died right now I couldn’t even afford cremation
Most village, town and city municipalities in America, will pay for the cheapest cremation in the event there is no one that can pay for it.
I prefer to bury in a cemetery. tho in my culture, most pple bury on family land. I hate graves. tho its believed to be respect, the bible says that the dead have no more affiliations with the living.
i can't see me buying land that i can't enjoy
easyrider750 lol
In Old Testament , 1 Samuel 31: 12-13 Saul and his three sons were cremated !!
Best answer!
They also could be buried on their own property
Not every body turns into dust... what about the Egyptians when some of them got mummified hundreds of years ago
More like THOUSANDS of years ago.
My God can put the ashes of my body together if he wants we are made from dirt soooo I don't care what happens to mine . I told my son long ago don't bury me it cost too much take the money and ball out 😂
This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality
TC
Did they burn Jesus? No so to be a Christian is to be Christ like!
Simply put. Amen!!
It’s ok. It doesn’t matter when you are dead.
We will have a glorified body as Jesus has. But we will be made same with the angels no higher nor lower but the same.
Yes it's fine it just has to be buried
Folks, trust the word not any man read verses like, Amos 2:1 and do a word study on fire and see how God views all this and what is fire compared to burial a picture of.
ua-cam.com/video/4lHWv4zM7iA/v-deo.html
dust to dust....ergo cremation is no big deal....
Scripture says flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom!
Where in the Bible does it say there is going to be a resurrection of the body? I believe if what happens to the body after death was important Jesus would have made sure to mention that fact. It would not have gotten missed you would have been told exactly what to do with a body 🙂
Revalation.
Not sure about the chapter and verse though. Chapter 20 or 22.
Somewhere in there.
Read it for yourself.
Dont take my word for it.
There is nothing wrong with it and yes you will go to heaven so don't think that you want if you are creamated period
Hitler and pagans practiced cremation. Just Another pagan practice adopted by christians. Green burial is a kinder gentler alternative.
Carol Green amen
DUST TO DUST. IF IT ROTS OR IS ASH. BOTH ARE ASH
How many religions are there. Hindu beliefs are completely different.
I can't be the only one hoping to be buried (cremated or not) in a very pretty place, with my family so that when I rise I can check who's coming with me haha
How about saying that the cost of today's funerals is ridiculously expensive so that's why I choose cremation, much less expensive for your family .
