Stayed in Peloponnese near Pylos many times. Wonderful part of Greece. The brief clip of you running at the Olympic stadium reminded me of one of our visits when my wife who was 65 at the time, ran both legs in 35 degrees of heat. I thought her barmy but she got an ovation from onlookers.
Greece has just announced that we can fly from the UK to the islands on 1st July. So this season we will be following your tracks through the Peloponnese. It looks beautiful and isolated. Thanks for the great videos. They're full of useful information. Hope all us safe and well with you and you can get back to your boat. Cheers Steve and Susan
Thanks guys, yes we wanted to make the video's that way to help anyone doing a similar trip :). We are really jealous, but really happy you can get back out on the water! You will love it , it will be beautiful. We haven't heard anything yet, Australia is pretty strict with even the states borders closed haha. Have a great time Steve and Susan and let us know how you get on.
What a wonderful couple. Only comment would be to try to be less scripted on UA-cam. Just my 5 cents. May safe and fair winds always be in your sails. Much love to you both ❤️
Watching your version of cruising the eastern med. is joyful compared to many others. you are great At picking times and places ,avoiding the bulk of “ the clumsy crowds “ excellent !
Thanks so much, glad you have found our videos enjoyable, yeah we have been really lucky missing the crowds hahaha. Has been a great sailing season, glad you enjoyed the video :)
Firstly I would definitely recommend the Peloponnese, heaps of great anchorages, so much history and really quiet, we had all the anchorages to ourselves. I assume most people had their boats out of the water by late October. When do people start sailing again in the Mediterranean? If you enjoyed this video, please subscribe to our channel, this really helps us out :)
Hi again! Great video! We met a lot of med sailors this our first season, most of them sails from Apri l-October, and many goes "home" in July-August. We are also planning to start our next season in Mars-April. But not going home because we rented our house out in July-August :) Hope we meet! Cheers / Kent
Hi again, great to hear from you :). Yes that makes sense, we still saw boats around in the Ionian in early October, then nobody. We too are heading home in December and plan to return in late April. Hopefully this winter is better than last in Greece, very cold, but you would be used to this in Sweden. Chat soon
Thanks very much :) . We have been really fortunate with the weather in October/November and yes hardly a boat in sight. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Hi Kawai. Enjoying your story from lockdown. Funny thing is that were enjoying the same route and were only probably 2 weeks ahead of you on our catamaran Rukus. Who knows when we will be back. Thanks for keeping the dream alive. SV Rukus
Hi John, great to hear from you! Yes it is a little unfortunate, where are you guys now? Did you enjoy the Peloponnese? We hope to be back over this year but are waiting on the vaccine to be rolled out in Australia, not to sure when we will receive it. Hope all is well and glad you enjoyed the videos, stay safe :)
Nice video guys! You are having a good time, eating good food and enjoing the sea! That is a good life! If you decide to visiti the golf of Lakonia while on Peloponissos , you chould check for Marmari, Porto Kagio, Agios Kyprianos(my village), Kotronas, Gytheio and a lot more places on that side. We are the rocky side with not as many trees and stuff, but the places are beautifull! I wish you safe journeys!
Hi Spyridon, yes we would love to visit that area of Greece, unfortunately we are only allowed to stay in Greece 3 months, so hopefully next time, we are off to Turkey for the winter. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, we really love Greece and thanks for watching 👍😁
Great video guys, good to see you showing the long way round, not everyone gets to see what you are showing. Again this is another area I plan to pick your brain on :) All the best!
Hey Nick, thanks mate, yes we have really enjoyed seeing this quieter part of Greece and of course ask any questions you want hahaha. Always happy to help out. Chat soon!
Brilliant film as always, I really love your relaxed vibe, it is how we hope to do it when we finally get a boat. Really looking forward to your next chapters, as we are probably in that area chartering for a couple of weeks next October. Are you guys sailing through the winter again, or planning on hunkering down somewhere for a stretch?
Thanks Pete, always nice to hear positive feedback to the videos 😁. We are currently crossing the Cyclades on route to Turkey. We will be pulling Kawai out and heading back to Australia to visit our families for Christmas, which will be really nice. Expecting to be over again in April. We don’t have a set schedule as yet, but would be great to catch up if you are close by 🙂. Thanks again
My idea of heaven. We toured the Pelopennese by car a few years ago and loved it. But I don't think there is any way better than the way you are doing it. Probably too late for you but the highlights for us were Elafonisos island and Monemvasia. Subscribed and looking forward to looking at your previous and future videos.
Hi and thanks for your comment. Yes we feel very fortunate to be doing it by boat and are loving every moment. We did visit Elafonisos (In the next video), however only for a night, due to the weather had to keep moving :( . I am glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for subscribing :)
Hey guys nice video. Looks like you came close to falling in the drink at that marina lol... I have been watching your vids on the big screen telly, looks real good FYI. Our first season sailing has been great learnt a ship load. Only thing I stress about is docking her back into our spot in the marina. Anyway safe travels and congrats on the 4000 subs to come. Cheers from Turkey Fethiye.
Hey Pedro, great to hear from you :). Was wondering how you got on, I don't think anyone loves entering a marina hahaha. I think Jase wishes I did, would have been great viewing for all haha. We have also learnt a lot this year, appreciate the kind words. Thanks for getting in contact again and chat soon
It’s beautiful video , many thanks ! Warm greetings from the garden island of Kauai located in the middle Pacific Ocean. I am sailor explorer all the islands on the planet .
Hi Rimas, thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. Wow that's awesome, I can't wait to visit the many beautiful Pacific Islands, seems you have sailed a lot, which is your favourite place?
Hahahaha to be honest it's just a name we really enjoy saying with our exaggerated Aussie accent, reminds us of home and some of our town names like Cabramatta hahaha. Glad you enjoyed the video mate :)
Trains! How exciting :P Did Julia tell you guys to watch the movie "Maiden" yet? I watched it at work the other day and thought of you guys. So cool that you guys get to explore those places without other tourists around and see what they're actually like
Hahaha I knew you would love the trains :). Julz did mention it and we will watch it when we get some good internet. Yes has been really cool being the only ones in the anchorage. Can't wait to see you guys!
8:46 i always wondered how do you arrange for a spot in the marina when you are just arriving from the sea? I do not own a boat so im literally clueless with these things.
Hey! To be fair we haven't spent much time in Marina's, every time we have stayed we have rung in advance and booked a spot. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching :)
Excellent, excellent content! You are sharing absolutly awesome scenery, and experiences! Thank you so much. It would be great if you could try to avoid shooting into the sun, though, especially if you're having a conversation with the person you shooting. Silhouettes can be intriguing on occasion, but it is much more enjoyable to be able to see your faces. Once again, thanks for sharing your life with us!🤓
I really like it when you show where you go on the land and the sea, and the interesting villages, cafes etc. I think your videos of this are the best of all the sailing videos online! We are planning to buy a yacht again and follow in your footsteps. We enjoyed owning a Hanse 411 for 6 years, they sail to windward so well. Awesome boats. With envy, Murray and Jean.
Hi guys, thanks so much, what a compliment :). Glad you enjoy the videos and appreciate the kind words. We love getting into the little towns and meeting the locals so I hope we can bring you more. Yes we love our Hanse, sounds exciting, hopefully run into each other on the trip! Thanks for watching
@@SailingKawai Yes we just left the boat in Sicily for winter...back in Canada working, but glad we left when we did, winds are looking crazy! Worried about the boat of course haha!
Hi Anthony, thanks very much, we will likely cruise the med for another year before making our way towards the Caribbean and on to the Pacific. Our timeframe is fairly flexible so we just want to see as much as possible for now. Thanks for watching :)
And you scared the hell out of me!, you only got half an Asics on that dock when you jumped off!!!!, please be careful!!, I'm surprised Hugh Jackman didn't scold you!! lol
yes, a little Hugh, another Actor that escapes me at moment ;)...Also, I am straight and Hetero. !! lolNow you, "hmmm let see?", Maybe a cross of Lori Laughlin and a brunette Christie Brinkley?;) ;)!!...
Hi, What do you do with your tender when you go ashore? We are worried about leaving it? What did you do with it when you went to Olympia? Thanks Allison ~ living the dream
Hi David and Allison, we tied it to the town quay as it was really quiet and plenty of room with calm weather. We have a chain and padlock we use. On other occasions when the town quay or a jetty isn’t available we lift it out and chain to a pole or tree but our tender and outboard are quite small and easy to do this 😁. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍🏼
Sailing Kawai hi, thanks for your reply. We will be in Greece next summer and are looking forward to it. I asked about the tender as we had our bikes chained up 2 days ago and they were stolen. Very nervous and worried about leaving the tender 🥺😬
Sailing Kawai hi, thanks for your reply. We will be in Greece next summer and are looking forward to it. I asked about the tender as we had our bikes chained up 2 days ago and they were stolen. Very nervous and worried about leaving the tender 🥺😬
Hi David, that makes sense :( , where were you when they were stolen, Country? I guess chaining them up isn't a sure solution, however for us we need it for insurance and we have had a good run and haven't felt unsafe. Our tender is also pretty small so maybe not too desirable hahaha
Hi David, thanks for the feedback, we are definitely not professionals but are always trying to improve our video's so will take it on board. Hopefully you still enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
