My personal view of audio gears price category;
$0-100 = BUDGET-FI
$100-500 = MID-FI
$500-1000= HIGH-FI
$1000 - $2000 = SUMMIT-FI
$2000 & Beyond = STRATOS-FI
DISCLAIMER: This is based on my own personal experience with this gear and does not reflect or represent what you or others may experience. The biggest advice would be to try and test ANY gears on your own first prior to making that purchase decision
I hope you found this video somewhat informative. Any feedback to help improve my content would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for watching and till the next video!
Well I'm more of an IEM person due to a number of things, portability, better value than headphones in most cases and the heat. I live in Cape Town, South Africa and it get really warm around here, and also when it's cold I wear a beanie, in those cases I can't wear a headphone. I've got open backs (not used as much as IEMs) and with what seems to be a struggle to get sound tuning right with closed backs, well I'm just no customer.
What dac would you pair this with?
I'd pair this with any clean or neutral sounding sources, so like a Topping or SMSL just to give it some roundness considering the warmth of this headphone. On dongles i use something like the Moondrop Dawn or even Fiio KA15
@@rnarexperience Thank you.
Topping DX3 Pro+ and Moondrop Dawn Pro are a sweet neutral combo for desktop use and portability!
I personally wasn't impressed with this one, went in with a lot of expectations after all the Hype. The tuning is safe and alright, not much to fault with there but the techs are sevearly lacking.
The Bass is loose and muddy, extension on both ends is not good, Image precision is a bit blurry and there's blending in complex passages, not much Details and the Stage isn't big enough.
I guess it is a good option for those looking for a budget Headphone but IMO it's better to get an IEM instead which will have better value for money. For Headphones, the Edition XS is where true value is, it beats anything close and even slightly above it's price as long as you are using some quality amplification.
It seems like the FT1 Pro would be more matching to what you're looking for instead of the FT1. Edition XS is a great headphone for its price not going to argue against that but planar rarely has a lot of meat or weight from the low end so some people may find that lacking
@rnarexperience Haven't tried the FT1 Pro but did try the AR5000. I still think the Edition XS is better. I'm running it off of the EF400 and don't think it's Bass light in any way, it's not Bass head level sure but even using Gryphon or Q15 I get good results with the XS. I think 99C, especially with the upgrade Cable is a better option for a Bassy closed back but yeah it is a subjective hobby so YMMV.
Why is there such a huge difference in headphone prices. Obviously there's a small difference in material cost. Are we paying for the r&d that went into the tuning?
R&D and tuning yes - as well as brand, know how and QC
I got these in order to replace my old ATH MSR7..but, i dont like FT1. MSR7 sounds much better. Vocals are clear and bright. Actually evrything sounds better on MSR7. FT1 sounds muffled to me. Also FT1 is poorly built. Right cup got lose and fell apart after a week of barely using them. I managed to fix them but still, that should not happen to a brand new headphone. So yeah, i dont like these.
