This was an extremely helpful, no-fluff, no shilling, no bs, video. The Fiio FT1 were being praised by every notable youtuber without talking about some of the most important points you mentioned in this video, which ultimately let me down once they arrived, and I had to send them back. I am in the market for exactly what you're searching for as well! Subscribing to follow your journey of getting a good closedback. Best of luck!
Would you say the Sonys leak a lot of sound to the outside compared to other headphones? I want to get the Sonys for tracking vocals and the only thing Im concerned about is the sound leaking, what do you think?
They don't leak much sound at all, so you won't have any issues using them for monitoring. However, their noise isolation for blocking outside sound is pretty unexceptional.
The Sennheiser HD 620S at $250-$300 is pretty neutral, but has a midbass bump, sound pretty wide, and are very seal dependent. The next step up would be the Focal Azurys at $550. Hope this helps!
I unfortunately haven't yet. The next thing I plan to try is the DCA Aeon Closed X, but currently I'm broke as hell so I'm gonna have to wait a lil bit. Other folks have recommended the hd620s which seems to be a solid option, but I've seen some reports of seal issues, meaning no subbass unless perfectly positioned. Sorry I don't have any personal experiences to relay to you yet, but I hope this helps.
@@ToeMashio It's more than helpful, and thank you for the comment and the video review. I found a video with budget choices, and I hope it helps too: ua-cam.com/video/6trNIQc8Mac/v-deo.htmlsi=q5oeeTC4CTzThnE8.
Absolutely true for something like a drukqs or plenty of Autechre albums. I did find I preferred stuff like Boards of Canada more on the Sony's just for the more relaxed and rich presentation. Glitchy/Spacey production goes to the FT1s but the Sony's are definitely more suited for downtempo influenced IDM for me. I wish I listened to some more Nicolas Jaar before the Fiio's disassembled emselves tho.

great review 4minutes in
IF Fiios are pressing on your temples, then open the earcups and decompress the springs.

Hello, did you end up geting another closed-back headphone? Thought about Fiio FT1 but the comfort issue on long-usage becomes deal-breaker.

Like a bigger stage for electronic. IDM with all the layers just asking to be separated out on a canvas wide and up and down. Fiio great for IDM.
