When you said to be a great band you must be good live, i will tell you there was no better band live than Slade, and i have seen them all from the late 60 onwards, and in Noddy Holder they had the best voice in rock ever live.
Flame was a better than average rock and roll film telling a more gritty and downbeat tale based on a compilation of incidents from the days of British bands on the road in the 1960's. The ballad, How Does it Feel might be the best song. Noddy Holder was friends with Robert Plant in pre-Zeppelin days, and used to drive him to gigs in his dad's window cleaner's van.
Slade were so big in Europe in the early 70s. Their songs were going straight to number on in the first week. I see folk have corrected your errors with ELO and Fox on the Run. No worries. The guys in the band have fallen out, money I guess. Try Gudbye t Jane, take me back ome, look wot you done.
Oh if you are on a Slade discovery then you need to do "Run Runaway" the official video will have you laughing. Can't beat a rock song with bagpipes :)
I reckon there was some PAL speedup going on during that clip, too highpitched and fast. Watch a live clip of get down and get with it for a proper taste of slade
It is strange as Slade started as a late 1960s skinhead punk rock band if look on the internet you will see pictures of them back then about 1967 1968, Then Noddy and Jim started writing songs Changes everything to Noddy's voice Jim also sang a few of the songs too. Cuz I luv you was their start Jim played the violin Dave Bass Noddy Guitar Don still on drums.
Always liked Slade as a kid in the early Seventies but never seen the film or heard this before even though they were massive over here then and many of my school friends were heavily into them. I was getting into Status Quo and Faces at this time. That's before Rod Stewart went all soft and Ronnie Wood went off to the "Stones"?
Think you guys have a bit of quality in your music taste, and in particularly liking such a great band who bossed the early 70's in Britain, and yes, your spot on, Slade were a great live band.
"Fox On The Run" was Sweet not Slade
Ah geez! Thanks Micky. Whoops.
…and the ELO album is ‘Out of the Blue’
Joey Ramone said he practiced his best Noddy Holder in his bedroom before performing. Slade were always a rocking good time .
Slade the most underrated rock band 🎸 and noddy holder has the best rock voice ever
