This is great, sir!! I was trying to make my own layer and was stressing out for no reason. Will apply this method on my next project. Thank you so much for this!
I have some terrific pencil sketches drawn by my 12 year son on regular paper. I am going try this method to accentuate these priceless(for me) art work on to playwood using my first and newly acquired laser unit (Ginmetsu L8). I watch lots of your videos but this one focused on techniques can't be beat. Thank you, Sir. Genius....
At 3:30 you kept calling it "Offset Fill" and was confusing the hell out of me; I had to watch it three times to realize that you meant "Offset Tool"! Still excellent tips and it helped me figure out the direction that I wanted to go. Thank you.
I love that your videos give detailed focus on the LB tools and techniques you can do with them. It really helps to imagine their application for my own designs.❤
Thank you very much you just gave me a great idea to engrave on a blank coin to engrave and didn’t know how to start. You make it look so easy. Thanks again.
Just stumbled across this video Rich , once again you’ve made it easy to understand and I’ll be trying this out very soon . You sir are a lightburn Master , and a thoroughly nice chap as well .
Once again a great big thank you. You pick topics that really help me. This video will be in my permanent library for continuous reference. I’ve had some success with the raised lettering but when I and more layers everything goes haywire. Now I see where I have been goin wrong. Again, THANKS.
Oh Wow, that is extremely nice!! I’m gonna have to try that out, and I’m so glad that your videos aren’t on pay per view!! I have refer back to them often.
Beautiful work as always.I really enjoy watching your videos. And I have to say, I learned a lot. Thank you very much. Warm greetings from the Czech Republic
Great video! The bit I wanted was the engrave setting tips. I'm lucky in that I have been designing vectors for years, so Lightburn holds few problems for me in that respect.
This was amazing! My wooden coaster have bothered me with the grain direction for larger spaces. I bet the tip for cross hatch will make a big difference for me with these. I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you for this video, the Mickey project it’s amazing, one question I would like to add the feet’s how can I do that? Thank your videos are great!!
Great video again Rich! One question, on your business coins, how do you relief engrave and still get the wood grain to show? I seem to get a lot of the burnt wood look.
Thanks fior the great Video. I have a question how did you do the offset with the BLUE LAYER. I have tried and just can't get it right. The file you shared does not have the Blue Layer. Thanks
Overscanning provides time for the laser to turn off, slow down to make the turn, and then speed up again before turning back on. The setting is only for diode lasers. Co2 lasers have it built into the control boards (except the K40).
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks. My shop machine had it set at 4.5. Curious as I do not recall ever messing with that setting but my work laptop which I have a copy installed which I use for when I am on the road had it at 2.5. No idea how it was changed. Does not look to be a big deal. Befuddles a senior old sourdough which is not hard. Thanks again.
Hello I loved the video I did have a question I am trying to make a design where I want to have more then one item raised but I am having trouble getting it right I was wondering if you might be able to give me some tips to try
Great video. I have a question about the Roly. Do you have to wear protective glasses while it is running? I bought the xtool S1 and wishing I would have bought the Roly instead. Customer service is sub par with xtool and I have heard nothing but good about Roly. Selling my S1 for something built for Lightburn. Thank you.
I don't, because my back is always to the machine, but it doesn't matter what laser you use, you should always take the extra precaution of wearing safety glasses. No acrylic can filter 100% of the laser beam, 98% at best. I personally never look at the job while it's running, except from a distance or on camera.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Xtool pushes the class 1 standard that doesn't require glasses but with my riser, I see flashes from the rear door on my wall. Good advice, thank you.
I'm sorry to ask this, especially if it's covered somewhere, but I'm new to laser engraving & cutting. Does this work with a 22W diode laser? The raised lettering or relief fill? This is what I've been trying to figure out how to do.
*Thank you ALL so much for watching!* Leave me a comment on _whether or not you like this new focused format,_ going back to my roots!
Yes please, love these videos
Wish I could add multiple "likes" for this one Rich. Thanks so much.

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy You got that right,,, I was too old to realize what you meant the first time!

Very creative product, very well done video. THANKS
Thank you very much!
Great video again Rich! One question, on your business coins, how do you relief engrave and still get the wood grain to show? I seem to get a lot of the burnt wood look.
You have to do material testing to get the right settings Andy.
Great tutorial, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video. Gives me new ideas to try out.
Glad to hear it Jeff! 👍 Have fun with it!
outstanding content, sir!
Thank you kindly!
I still can't figure out how to add the cut layer
Offset the outer layer, put it on a layer set to line.
Great tips Sir ! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful Todd!
Question: wouldn't 45 degree angle engraving be slower than 0 degree angle? If do, why not just turn the plywood 45 degrees?
It is slower with a different affect.
can you use multi light burn layers instead of just one. just thought you were doing that to make it easaier so you dont have to do multilayers
Relief fill is all done on one layer to get the 3D affect.
Thanks fior the great Video. I have a question how did you do the offset with the BLUE LAYER. I have tried and just can't get it right. The file you shared does not have the Blue Layer. Thanks
It wasn't included because it was a specific name. All I did was create a smaller name and put it in line mode on the blue layer.
Could you explain the overscanning setting?
Overscanning provides time for the laser to turn off, slow down to make the turn, and then speed up again before turning back on. The setting is only for diode lasers. Co2 lasers have it built into the control boards (except the K40).
What better? Higher or lower number. Not sure if I fully understand
2.5% to 3% works on most diode lasers.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks. My shop machine had it set at 4.5. Curious as I do not recall ever messing with that setting but my work laptop which I have a copy installed which I use for when I am on the road had it at 2.5. No idea how it was changed. 2.5% is the default Lightburn software setting.
🎉

Just offset each item by 0 Matt. That's how I did it in this video.
