    This video was exactly what I was looking for; in addition to wiring etc you provided a most helpful systematic step by step review of they call the Program Card options, a fine explanation of each and how you select them. Great. I have three pages of notes. Many thanks.

  • @walterdennisclark
    @walterdennisclark 5 років тому

    Thanks for putting this video together.
    The second from the top input is A E R. Far more complicated is the end you didn't talk about. I presume you stick the connector into the receiver sideways so only the signal pins are connected. Hopefully your receiver pins are spaced apart the same distance that way.
    Then there's the top most input, again you talked about the obvious for quite a long time but neglected the other end. Presumably you cut off some how, or grind away the red and black pins so you only have a single female end that is then inserted into the signal pin of your landing gear channel. Is that right?

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  5 років тому +1

      Howdy Walter,
      I have indeed used a 'sideways' way of connecting only the signal pins.. This was a common practice on for instance the KK2 flight controllers.. You do offcourse have to have 1 pin-pair hooked up the normal way otherwise the A3 won't get powered.

    • @walterdennisclark
      @walterdennisclark 5 років тому

      And the top input with the single conductor . . . Doesn't that require you modify the connector that goes to the receiver by grinding away the power and ground contacts?

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  5 років тому

      Well nope.. I'll have to look it up later in the day (not home at the moment).. I recently converted the plane this A3 is in from Futaba to FrSky, but I definately didn't do any kind of connector-mod / grinding..

  • @alandurden1826

    if you haven't got the programming box do you connect it to your pc using an app?.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  3 роки тому

      not that I know.. Maybe that is an option in the newer version, but the one I have can only be set-up with that box

  • @walterdennisclark
    @walterdennisclark 5 років тому

    A this moment in the video:11:40, where you talk about your needing only the brown wire, what happens at the other end? How do you "not" use the yellow and red wires?
    Surely that means you grind away the other two sockets of the connector and insert the brown lead into the signal pin.
    Or do you merely cut the red and orange wires and insert it in upside down?

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  5 років тому

      Howdy Walter :)
      damn man.. it's been a while sinds I shot this video :P Thanks though for the comments cause I now see (again) the stabi has a Sbus in :O Good opertunity to swap out the receiver for an Sbus one :)
      okee.. for the first connector, I simply pullen the connectors (the metal parts) out of the servo connector..
      drive.google.com/file/d/11iBNUrHovjpBOs8YtagrcUrpu8G3e6_o/view?usp=sharing

    After all this time, I had the Spektrum receiver in my Maule completely fail after 4 times using it. I am switching to My Tactic receiver with this set up. When the Sport receiver fails in any Horizon plane, they make you buy the programmable receiver which requires a cable( extra fee) . They do not sell replacement receivers that are already set up for your plane.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  4 роки тому

      hmm that is a shame.. I assume that old one was a receiver with Safe?

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 4 роки тому

      @@DutchRC Yes. I guess it doesn't matter as I do not use safe anyways. I know I had an Apprentice that had also had the original receiver fail( I bought it off Market Place, on online local resale website). I ended up selling that one. Sadly, I had purchased 3 Apprentice that year and should have squirreled one away as a spare. Last year I couldnt buy a used RC Plane if my life depended on it. This year, I gained 3. All super awesome classics!

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 4 роки тому

      @@DutchRC I never had to use it so No. I think its just an added feature that they throw in so they can charge extra. Then if it fails, they can really hit you. I noticed on all the Horizon planes that the important parts are priced just where you would want to buy the part rather than replace the whole plane. At this point, the safe receiver isn't worth almost half the cost of the whole plane, not when you can acess after market electronics that can do the same job. I noticed as every Spektrum plane fails, I end up going with Tactic. half my fleet is now tactic.

    Will my transmitter functions work as normal like end points set, servo reverse, D/R EXP, and trim tabs work with gyro? Will these functions have to be programmed thru the gyro? Will this gyro work with a gas plane with electric ignition?

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  7 років тому +1

      That last question i can't really answer, but I think you should be able to just Not use the gyro for the throttle & ignition channels?
      You Will have to do the reversing in the gyro itself, otherwise it will 'correct' the wrong way around.
      You really should Not use trim on Any gyro / stabeliser as it will see that as input & not correct that axis anymore..
      DR / EXP & end points will work as without the gyro..
