Caleb, I actually WAITED for this video before making a purchase. That's truly influencer power man! I'll get the YN216 spotlight, I've been looking for a rimlight for a while. Also, I think the videos you've been doing since 2017 have been your best series so far, everything makes sense, while I'm an experienced UA-camr and people always comment on how great my production value is it's really thanks in big part to your series of videos through the years. Anyway, just saying, definitely going to your website and using the links for Amazon! Keep up the good work man!
Insanely helpful video. Even a year later, still fantastic information here on getting a decent LED rig. This is hands down the best source of information I could find online when it came to making a final decision and I spent about 3 days researching, reading, watching videos, browsing prices and specs on lights. If you're just starting out and the lights here are within your budget range, watch this video and take notes so you can look back at the choices to weed out your favorites. Only took about 45 minutes of my time and cleared my head of any doubts. Thank you for this!
Appreciate the fact that these videos were self sponsored. I'm a new UA-camr and wanted to get reviews for lights and the fact that you have made videos on such a wide range of lights is really great. Blessings and good wishes from India. Am subscribing your channel due to the sheer fact that you invest so much in your videos. Looking forward to getting more valuable videos from you. Again. Wonderful video.
Thanks for making this and the under $50 video Caleb! Been using natural light only for my videos because I have been very intimidated to get into actual video lighting. Your videos and the detail you go into help a ton in determining what I need and give me a direction to look. Thanks again man!
Just saying.. I have come back to this video, the C-mount video, and the EOS-M video more times than I have returned to any other videos EVER! Thank you so much Caleb. You are soooooo helpful.
So wait is the aputure the highest cri light out of all these? I'm looking for a cheap 5600k or 6500k light for matching camera profiles and I want the most accurate color I can get at this price range without magenta or green boosts. Not sure if the sony is just slightly magenta and the aputure is showing what the a6500's settings on skin actually look like, or if thats a magenta boost/shift being given off by the light?
I have the YN600 Air and the diffusion is really pretty good to simply point and not worry about, the YN300 is a mini beast, pretty good output for just 300 LED and ever since I bought theYN300 I've been wanting the YN600. I didn't know about the YN216, it fits what I want, I might even get two of that before getting the YN600. UA-cam really lacks good LED panels review AND comparisons, a lot of the times they review one panel and you have no parameter to compare to, which doesn't help much. Nice review!
For my use, yes. The only difference is if you have an extra place to hold the extra YN300. Each YN300 needs a single batter whereas the YN600 needs two, even more if you go for the bi-color, so in that sense, they are basically equal but with two YN300 I have the versatility to use in a different place if I want to.
theSUBVERSIVE I am agree with you, I've planning to use 2 yn300 air, 1 as key light and 1 as fill light. Is this a right choice ? compare to have only 1 yn600 as key light. Note : My room is about 3*4 Meters
It was based on this review that I purchased one of the lights you recommended. I watch a lot of reviewers on youtube but your videos have helped me in a very real and practical way. I'll be buying some of your merch as thanks.
Hi Caleb, I just wanted to thankyou so much! I was filming a short low budget film (£1000) and we had a scene in a bathroom. We had Arri 350w and 650w but none could be sued because of health and safety so checked out you review for battery powered lights. The YN-216 Spot Light was amazing, we used it a tonne of times, not only for the bathroom but the portability and great light meant it was great in most of the scenes. Just wanted to say thanks for the help and good luck for the future GH5!!!!!
I've watched three times. His $50 vid, I watched probably 10 times. I'm actually in the next tier of price, 100-150ish. I don't know if he plans on doing a vid in this price range, but I hope he does, I'd really like a comparison of lights competing around the aputure 528's ability/price range. I'm close to pulling the trigger, and it really might be, if I don't get max value out of this purchase :I
You guys should put the time of when the product is in the video. It would make it a lot easier for when people are trying to compare before a purchase. Thank you.
This video is awesome! Thanks for taking your time and creating something people could actually use. This is one of the best lighting videos I have found On LED lights!!!
Boy this helps a lot comparing & contrasting but also makes it tough to decide...i'm a one man show most of the time doing various videos inside houses, etc. so I wonder if getting like 3 cheaper/smaller LED lights would be the way to go for that?
This is EXCELLENT. I've been looking for some budget-priced lights for work...I work for an education agency and our production budget is slim to none, so most of my gear (aside from the camera) I purchase myself. This is an AWESOME list! Thank you!
Id be very interested also and set up tips for everything on a outdoor possibly windy set with uneven ground - im sure you have thst already though but ive been concentrating in your lighting so far. Im not sure how to best balance to ground/steady/ bag my tripods and stands in situations like the beach, on damp uneven grass, rocky dirty areas etc. Or just general outdoor shooting with mics and led lights like you have here.
Very well done video! I did not expect to see such results for lights under $100, and you did an excellent job pointing out the most important pros & cons (CRI, spread, and overall output). Thank you!
DSLR Video Shooter I just finished the video and got to say I loved it! The comparison was amazing! And I love how you gave examples of not only what each light looks like but some different ways you can use them! You really made 23ish minutes not seem like 23ish minutes lol it felt way shorter but in a good way!!! 😊
I think in many Yongnuo products is not a fair comparison. You mix products with LEDs of just 5500K (double bright) and others with mix of 3200K and 5500K (I dont even know why someone would buy those, but looks like most of people does...). I did a little comparison of they Yongnuo Family with prices in €, w, lumen, cri level. Hope this clarify you mind. YN300 III 60€ 18w/2280lm/cri95+ YN600 100€ 36w/4680lm/cri95+ YN216 60€ 13w/2000lm/cri90+ YN360 75€ 19.2w/2560lm (rgb494lm)/cri95+ *For the version with 3200k and 5500k you should divide lumen to the half.... also... price might change a bit.
Hey dude, do you own all of these Yongnuos models? I have the YN300 III and my YN216 just arrived, I imediatelly noticed a greenish cast on it, I can clearly see when I put both side-by-side. Have you noticed this also?
I will say I am bummed about that fancier light. I had it for 2 days and this afternoon I touched it to turn it on and got a slight static shock and the light was dead. cant say i would recommend it because build quality doesnt seem good as I saw a few reviews on amazon had same issue
I never thanked you . I bought my YN360 based upon your review. In fact I became aware of it do this review. I also bought a light from Part 1 of this video. Again thank you Caleb for all you do for the community. Very informative
Earlier this year I finished schooling, and I left my program deciding video is where I want to be. I've been trying to research LED lights I can bring with me for shoots. Thank you for this series.
The best video on the internet about LED's right here. I only trust Caleb when it comes to this stuff. Torn between the YN-216 and the YN-600 right now. LOVE the portability of the 216 but the 600 has better CRI and more power.
Sold!! Im heading over to Amazon right now to pick up that spotlight and the hand held RGB, this will work perfect for a cooking show!! I have ringlight that throws a lot but those two had me sold! Thanks Caleb using your links directly after this comment!! -Lucky
Thanks for this video man! After watching, I actually went for the Aputure H198, but the bi-color version and I love it! I was previously using a random LED light that I purchased off of Amazon (mainly because it was cheap), and was pissed at how poorly the lighting output was during a fairly big and important interview that I had to film. Not wanting to be plagued by this, I saw how much light the H198 kicked out and just had to have it. It's totally a difference of night and day (literally) from my other light. Pretty sure I'll pick up another one of these in the near future.
Really outstanding video! Fair, flexible, all the pluses and minuses, solid review man. The great video LEDs for under $70 was fantastic too!. Will be using those affiliate links when I'm ready to buy, dude!
Haha I was one of the people bugging you about that light. Love it that you say the fan noise was no big. I want the Bowens mount flexibility bad bad bad. Otherwise that Micro is a revelation because I've heard other people getting damn good audio with it. Maybe I'll get one, sell all my higher end shotguns, and use the money to get my teeth whitened or something. : ) Seriously can't thank you enough for all the great information over the years, and the underlying help with approaches and attitudes, other than thanking you by paying on the pay side which is always worthwhile. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BRO.
Basically Yongnuo is kicking ass. I wasn't surprised and actually pretty happy to hear that conclusion. I've used some of their Speedlights for photography work and they were AMAZING considering the price. One of them did die after a couple of months but It already payed for itself several times. Great company and great video from you as always. Thank you!
I am so happy I found your channel! Someone the best content for cameras on UA-cam! Any plans on doing a segment on tripods/heads/fluid heads in the future? Keep up the amazing work!
Was waiting for this since the time i first saw your less than 50$ led comparison video. I already had ordered the YN300III 5500K version and i am glad you have it in this list.
Great video! Thanks for the tremendous investment to make this. I bought the Neewer 480 before I saw this video. Wish I would have found this first. Thanks again!
Omg, that video is one of the best video on the youtube that explains all the lights, everything that i need to know !! Going to check your over videos :)
This week I picked up the Neewer 176 and Yongnuo 216 5500k to test. Sending the Neewer back because the quality of light with the YN216 reminds me of Profoto’s strobes, to say, very clean looking. I think I’ll get the YN600 5500K, also on your recommendation, since it should match the color of the YN216 . Testing the little spot on a nighttime street shoot soon.
I was really looking forward to this episode. Thanks for all the information! I currently have the Neewer 160, 216, and 304. Looking to get something with barn doors and better CRI next. I think the YN lights look like they might fit the bill. Thanks again!
Great video. Thanks for such a detailed and well-documented tutorial/review. I have just one simple question (probably you've already answered it but I couldn't find it among the comments so here it is again): What lighting system did you use to record this video? Did you use any of the LED lights you've reviewed here? The softness and tone on your skin is really good.

Seriously THE best LED light review vide on the Internet. I need to buy some lights and had no idea where to start. Thanks so much!
I need a 2019 version of this video!
indeed we need !
Need a 2020 version now
Same here 2020 please 😃
2020 and later on a 2021 as well ;-)
@@theshortlist I from the future, i want 2034 version, this world is ending!!!
Dude, thanks to you we picked up two YN600s and were able to drop our ISOs from 6400 to 200!!! You're the man!!
-[Sniff]
I might have to do the same.
Holy smokes why would you go to 6400? For crop sensors you would use at least 1600 unless you have a full-frame camera.
6400? Were you filming in a black hole?
Dude thats pretty awesome. No noise whatsoever is a dream come true
Caleb, I actually WAITED for this video before making a purchase. That's truly influencer power man! I'll get the YN216 spotlight, I've been looking for a rimlight for a while.

That handheld one looks like it'll be hella useful for b-roll. Thanks for the amazing video as always
I love this video series you are doing. So informative! I've got two of the Aputure H198s. Been great so far!
Tyrone Thomas
I was wondering if they were flicker free? Can you confirm if this is true?
check out the review on my channel i give out some great tips, and leave feed back
Fantastic video Caleb! So many options thanks for making this!
Thanks Max! Keep up the great work yourself! Loving the content and really enjoyed the interview with Dave. Great stuff!

Your led light videos have helped me get all my newest additions to my lighting gear! About to buy two YN-600s now!
Can u please make a video for lighting between $100-$200? That would be cool-Thanks!
Newer 304: - $55
YN 216: - $60
Your videos: - Priceless
Thanks, luv ya work
Thank you, I really like your videos
Dude, thank you for making this video. Just ordered the YN-600 and YN-216 for a little garage studio set-up. This really is a great video.
I have the YN600 Air and the diffusion is really pretty good to simply point and not worry about, the YN300 is a mini beast, pretty good output for just 300 LED and ever since I bought theYN300 I've been wanting the YN600. I wouldn't recommend 2x YN300 Air though. You are better off with 2x YN300 and a diffuser or something, that will give you more flexibility.
theSUBVERSIVE thank you for recommendations bro.
This is the best video on you tube for evaluating video led light! Simple and very informative, great job!
Great video as always!Would love to see more of your studio upgrades!
Studio tour will go down once I clean this place up!
Studio tour will go down once I clean this place up!
I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this video. I've learned so much. Thank you so much.
Finally!!!!!! Was waiting for this video for a long time! As I'm a tech reviewer and lighting is very necessary! Thank You!!!
Will make sure to buy using your affiliate link, Caleb!
Thanks Ronit! Means a lot!!! Happy lighting!
No problem man! Would mean a lot if you could check one of my videos out and provide me with some feedback! :)
Same here ! i think this channel is becoming one of my favorites
yea
It was based on this review that I purchased one of the lights you recommended. I watch a lot of reviewers on youtube but your videos have helped me in a very real and practical way. I'll be buying some of your merch as thanks.
Just found your channel and it's sooooooooooo useful. Thanks for all the helpful videos that are clear and concise.
Thanks GFH!
DSLR Video Shooter What's of this Led light is a good alternative to Rotolight Neo Led light (photography)? Thanks!!
"Dope light, if you want some Bangin' output" = my kind of description
Great video Caleb ! This will definitely help in making my next led purchase .Thanks for taking time for all us subscribers!
Damn I gotta watch this video over a couple times. The info is INVALUABLE!
I've watched three times. His $50 vid, I watched probably 10 times. I'm actually in the next tier of price, 100-150ish. I don't know if he plans on doing a vid in this price range, but I hope he does, I'd really like a comparison of lights competing around the aputure 528's ability/price range. I'm close to pulling the trigger, and it really might be, if I don't get max value out of this purchase :I
Loving that shilloette shot of all the lights with their hotspot patterns!
Cool and informative as usual! Will there be a part 3?
Great video
I'm weirdly impressed by the ninja finger pointing part from 21:26
Please do the 100-200 range!!!!
I have a YN300 Mk 1 and have 0 complaints about it. Works like a tropper. Now looking at adding two YN600 to my portable light kit. :)
You guys should put the time of when the product is in the video. It would make it a lot easier for when people are trying to compare before a purchase. Thank you.
I eventually took screen shots of each setup as jpeg and did a comparison.
Thank you for the time and effort it takes you to make these videos....and cost. I’m new to all this stuff. Your videos help a lot!.
The YN-360, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
I read your comment and I thought "Didn't I hear that in Jedi: Fallen Order the other day". Looked it up and sure enough, it is a Star Wars quote.
This video is awesome! Thanks for taking your time and creating something people could actually use. This is one of the best lighting videos I have found On LED lights!!!
I imagine you put so many hours into this vid. Great job! I may get a few extra lights
One of the best videos you have done over the years. Thanks!!!
Boy this helps a lot comparing & contrasting but also makes it tough to decide...i'm a one man show most of the time doing various videos inside houses, etc. so I wonder if getting like 3 cheaper/smaller LED lights would be the way to go for that?
Probably not, if I understood Caleb's tipps correctly he shared in another video: ua-cam.com/video/wGLi-_c5dkY/v-deo.html
This is EXCELLENT. I've been looking for some budget-priced lights for work...I work for an education agency and our production budget is slim to none, so most of my gear (aside from the camera) I purchase myself. This is an AWESOME list! Thank you!
I need a 2020 Version, please!
Your dedication to making great videos for us is truly appreciated. Thanks Caleb.
Also would've been curious about your recommendation for low cost light stands (i'm sure you mentioned your choices in past gear vids)
I second this... been looking also.
I have a video on some really killer, cheaper, light stands on my main channel (NextLevelNerd).
Thank you!
I was just watching one of your other videos when this popped up in my notifications 😂😊
Nice!
Thanks Notorius! Tried to keep it interesting. 10 lights is a lot of info!
My new favorite channel, good work man!
YN300 III 60€ 18w/2280lm/cri95+
YN600 100€ 36w/4680lm/cri95+
YN216 60€ 13w/2000lm/cri90+
YN360 75€ 19.2w/2560lm (rgb494lm)/cri95+
*For the version with 3200k and 5500k you should divide lumen to the half.... also... price might change a bit.
Hey dude, do you own all of these Yongnuos models? I have the YN300 III and my YN216 just arrived, I imediatelly noticed a greenish cast on it, I can clearly see when I put both side-by-side. Have you noticed this also?
By far the best comparison/review video on UA-cam for this level of LED light. Thank you for your hard work!!!
I will say I am bummed about that fancier light. I had it for 2 days and this afternoon I touched it to turn it on and got a slight static shock and the light was dead. cant say i would recommend it because build quality doesnt seem good as I saw a few reviews on amazon had same issue
damn I really want to buy that one as well. .
I never thanked you . I bought my YN360 based upon your review. In fact I became aware of it do this review. I also bought a light from Part 1 of this video. Again thank you Caleb for all you do for the community. Very informative

Genius :D
one of the best tec review vids i have seen

Haha!!! Nice.
nice catch
Earlier this year I finished schooling, and I left my program deciding video is where I want to be. I've been trying to research LED lights I can bring with me for shoots. Thank you for this series.
The best video on the internet about LED's right here. I only trust Caleb when it comes to this stuff.
Torn between the YN-216 and the YN-600 right now. LOVE the portability of the 216 but the 600 has better CRI and more power.
Also looking for a nice way to add an umbrella or softbox to the YN-216 or 600
Sold!!
Im heading over to Amazon right now to pick up that spotlight and the hand held RGB, this will work perfect for a cooking show!! I have ringlight that throws a lot but those two had me sold! Thanks Caleb using your links directly after this comment!!

YES! I've been waiting for this video. It's so great when youtube channels like yours create such good content. Thank you!
Great video. Probably the most helpful video I've seen for a first time buyer who knows nothing. Thanks!
WOW it's super comparison!!! I just bought lumix becouse of yours reviews, now we buying some light :) THANK YOU
Thanks for this video man! After watching, I actually went for the Aputure H198, but the bi-color version and I love it! Hello Sir, big fan from India.
We love your videos. You've taught us a lot.
Sir, we'll wait for 2020 version of this video.
Hi Caleb, setting up a studio for a new venture on a budget. Your information has been invaluable! Thanks
Basically Yongnuo is kicking ass. I wasn't surprised and actually pretty happy to hear that conclusion. I know that had to be a ton of work putting this video together. Thank you and Fantastic job!!!
Finally! I've been waiting for this since last week. Thanks Caleb
Just bought the YN-216 and the YN-360 with your links. Hope it helps. Thankyou so much for all the free content!!!
I've seen almost all of your videos. Your tips are amazing. Keep going!!!!
what an awesome video. i was lost with what to even look for until the video. thanks so much!
Great video. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
I bought the YN 360. The battery lasts a long time. Cool video!
just about to start a video series and your channel is fantastic. Thanks so much
Appreciate all the effort and expense you went to for this informative video.
Thanks sooo much for this! This is the must look before you buy guide to incredibly affordable lights!
freaking fantastic video, great breakdown on the features, excellent test shots. One of the best thought out product reviews I think I've ever seen.
Nice! That is a great light!
Great video Caleb! It's not often that you see so much and good info on these (cheapo)kind of lights. Thanks a lot, very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it Iago!
I've been waiting for this episode for a while now! Thanks for this!
Great work, man. Love your channel.
Hells yeah! Way to shine a light on LED's. Your research and presentation is a gift to indie-filmmaker-kind
Seconded by me! Of indie-film-maker-dom. :-)
Great video! Thanks for the tremendous investment to make this. I bought the Neewer 480 before I saw this video. Wish I would have found this first. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking the time to compile these, appreciate your hard work!
Really appreciate the time, money and attention to detail you have put into this. This has really helped me make up my mind. Big thanks :) 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Omg, that video is one of the best video on the youtube that explains all the lights, everything that i need to know !!
Going to check your over videos :)
Been waiting for this video for a long time. Thanks for making them mate.
Testing the little spot on a nighttime street shoot soon.
this video series has been extremely helpful thanks
This is an EXCELLENT presentation ! Thank you for doing this.
I was really looking forward to this episode. Thanks for all the information!
I currently have the Neewer 160, 216, and 304. Looking to get something with barn doors and better CRI next. I think the YN lights look like they might fit the bill.
Thanks again!
You are one of the best at what you do! Keep putting out good content :)
Aw shucks! Thanks!
Another power review...thank you so much dude. And I love the fact that you know what you are talking about
Thanks for doing all of this hard work Caleb! Looking good man.
Great video. Thanks for such a detailed and well-documented tutorial/review.
I have just one simple question (probably you've already answered it but I couldn't find it among the comments so here it is again):
What lighting system did you use to record this video? Did you use any of the LED lights you've reviewed here? The softness and tone on your skin is really good.
Love love love these types of videos. You do such a great job with them. You're so thorough and give so much good information.
been waiting for this one, THANK YOU! :) and another great video from you
Thank you for this in depth review! I almost purchased the Yn360 until I saw the YN600 RGB come out on B&H.
