This has been a great series. Alot to learn. I like that it wasn't compressed into 20mins skipping a bunch of stuff. The future looks bright for Tinman's saws
I am IMPRESSED that the saw was still 4 stroking at that RPM in the cut! You can hear that saw changing as the video progresses. I have yet to see a video that goes into this much detail on break in on the UA-cams. In short this saw is a BEAST!
@@bucketofguts yessir. I have the Tinman to thank for establishing my ear for carb tuning. He does a damn fine job breaking it down for hard heads like me!
I honestly can’t explain how much I’ve enjoyed this series. Im only a fairly new subscriber but this is by far my favourite UA-cam page. Keep up the amazing work Tinman 👍🏼 we all appreciate your knowledge
Wow! That thing throws chips into the next county. Without question the best laid out how to series I’ve seen. From turd to treasure in a few short weeks. Great job Tinman
Tinman she's gone from turd saw to terror saw. What an incredible journey! You are a Da Vinci with power saws. Let the good times roll! I just purchased a 355T Echo, with your tutelage she will become an angry top saw🤘
Imho the Echo 355T is a better top saw than the Stihl 201T stock , and I am a diehard Stihl guy. I can't imagine if it was ported and a muffler upgrade how much more of a beast the 355T would be
@@Lonewolve1988 I opened up the muffler and added a pipe exhaust on a plate to replace the cheapo factory one. No grinding and also removed the limiters for a proper tune. It woke right up. Die hard Stihl fleet myself. Won't be spending 6-700 bucks on a slacker EPA 201t.

Watched this all the way thru and rebuilt the top end of my ms660 clone. Just so happy and grateful Tinman thanks for sharing your knowledge. Saw was sticking a ring on a valve and was going to return it. Saved hundreds of dollars and weeks of time, by fixing it myself. Thank you Tinman !
I'm the kind of person who has to dive deep into anything I do mechanically. I was a wrench for my first profession before I moved to design engineering. The wealth of information here is quite unusual to me. Like someone mentioned, uncompressed. You get to hear and "feel" the process. The tuning tips alone are such an asset. Really a great job. This is the first time I've subscribed and followed a real time development and I'm hooked!!!
Great video! Very informative! And you’re right, everyone’s got a different view on break in. Years ago when I raced bikes, we would pull the plug out, and kick them over 200 times, jet Em and race them. Never had one come apart, but I’ve learned a time since the 80s. Heat cycles mean a lot! Keep up the good work!!
Fantastic video with perfect timing. I have a brand new ms461 and a new echo 620P that will need breaking in when the snow finally melts from the 45th parallel of Ontario. You have taught this old dog a few new tricks. My saw collection most of which are over 25 years old will see a lot more use now that i will be retired up north and heating full time with wood. Going to have to get used to the orange screwdriver in my coverall pockets. Great channel with very informative videos.Bless you and stay safe.
Tinman I haven't the words for the appreciation that I have for you going through this process of porting a 2 stroke... for a visual kinesthetic learner you are laying bricks of gold that can't be had in any other place but your channel (please try to search for it because you won't find it) unless you are one of the fortunate few that are kin or very good friends with someone who does this kind of work on a regular basis
Great series. You have addressed a few questions I've had on my own saws and could not find info on. From breakin to rings seating, carb adjustments and how it all reacts. Thank you!
Great job on the Echo. Look forward to seeing it turned up in big wood and hearing your thoughts on this saw verses other ported saws in it's class. Enjoyed it as always.😊👍👍👍
That's good to know about it running rich until the rings seat. I rebuilt my first saw and had to tune my low jet way up. I'll follow your break-in process and see if that helps.
I have the same saw and have used for about 10 years and has been a great powerful saw and it always needs 5 pulls to get it started first time in season and then it’s 1-2 pulls it’s a very strong saw out of the box.
She looks like a hard pulling saw already, I've really enjoyed watching the saw progress from start to finish. I like your idea of fun, playing with Chainsaws 👍
Great series, wish I had caught it earlier in the year. Trying to get my hands on a 70 cc saw. My stable goes from 60 class to 388xp to 395xp. Sooner or later I'll find the right deal. Keep at it. An awesome series & channel
My new 562 ran itself really rich for the first tank, I though it was going to be the thirstiest saw ever but by the third or fourth tank it really is surprisingly efficient. Really love this new saw.
Right on brother, sounds great! I’ve got the Dolmar half torn down in the shop just need to find time to start getting numbers. Thanks for the awesome info!
WOW what a difference in the before and after in how it performs, great job tinman... The only way that saw could look any better is if It was cutting wood in my hand lol... Great job that is really impressive I can't wait to see it after final tune.
I just bought a Timberwolf, pulled the limiters, cut the deflector in the muffler. Tuned it rich and ran two tanks cutting firewood running 40:1 91 octane . Still have it tuned rich but switched to 45:1 and ran 8 tanks through it sawmilling cedar and black ash, gained 12 psi in compression. No issues no far, it pulls a 20" bar well. Very happy with Echo, probably one of the easiest starting saws I've ever owned.
Can see and hear the improvement over stock, that's for sure! Nice job man, gonna rip shit once she's turned up!!! Quite interesting how it changes as the rings seat! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Great video! You have as much as us in the city, east has a fair bit couple weeks back on a ride. Echo sounds gooooooood👌 pulling harder is an understatement from what I have experienced so far lol like an angry animal woke up
So i have owned one of these since 2007 or 2008. Ive cut hundreds upon hundreds of trees with it. Ive abused it with a 36" bar at times, ive milled 28"++ hardwood with it, it still runs extremely well . *i wish mine ran this well!* Also wish you were in the US
