Awesome question Henry! I forgot to mention this. The hole can be used to control "dry-out" by twisting the vent ring to cover it, or keep it open. If the hole is left open, the sensor will dry out faster, if the hole is covered the sensor will dry out slower. Thank you for pointing this out. -Andy
Hi Sandra. To test the sensor you should depress the white spindle on top of the sensor for 3-5 secs, and see if it the receiver goes into rain shutdown mode. Unfortunately that is really the only way to test it, which means you’ll need to access the sensor which is not always easy. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Which light is flashing? Non of the lights should flash. Here are the possibilities: Sensor Status Indicator: Steady light - Sensor is active (either rain or freeze). Blinking light - Indicates receiver has been bypassed for one rain cycle. Smart Bypass button pressed once. Press again to exit bypass mode. Power Indicator: Steady light - 24 VAC power is connected. Blinking light - Sensor/Transmitter battery power low, or other communication problem. No light - Unit is off or is disconnected from 24 VAC. Signal Indicator: Indicates quality of last received signal. Steady light - good signal. Blinking light - fair signal. No light - poor signal (relocate Sensor Transmitter).
Mine is set at the lowest possible setting but is entirely too sensitive. A light rain keeps the system bypassed for days. How can I adjust that? Thanks!
Interesting. What make/model controller do you have? Some controllers have programmable days off after a rain event setting - check to see if this setting is activated on your controller.
Can this be used on any system? I have a Hunter xcore controller, do I have to use the hunter version of this?
Absolutely. Rain sensors are interchangeable with any system.
What is that hole below the markers for setting rain level. Theres a plastic ring that turns and can open or cover the hole.
