This was great, thank you, Mark. Loved the visuals on the pitch discussion and the mascots. Long live Rockin' Robin!
I appreciate your descriptive commentary on the stream!
1) I have young kids, so I’m often distracted from the screen on Sat mornings, but I can still follow what’s going on by listening to you.
2) I can’t stand the commentary style that is just “Smith. Jones. Williams. Smith.” until something major happens. Why even bother?!
Famous altered Christmas vacation quote... "he worked hard"... "so do washing machines"
I was friends with a Nottingham Forrest grounds man and Brian Clough was a master pitch tamperer. If teams had fast wingers he’d order the ground staff not to cut the outer perimeter so the long grass slowed them. If teams played fast to feet football. He’d over water the pitch to stop the ball rolling. He also allegedly flooded the pitch to get games called off as he’s better players had injuries. That may have been in his Derby County days.
Thanks for the great pod
PC Arthur Rowlands was a very keen Wrexham fan and would often be seen with his guide dog
People from Hartlepool have long been known to other North Easterners as 'monkey hangers' and the red strawberry or raspberry syrup that gets dribbled on top of ice cream is known across the North East as 'monkey's blood'.
Do you remember the Peterborough mascots from the away game? Skiphead , and a couple of mates , one was a carrot
If a game is abandoned mid game, the league can impose the result at the time of abandonment or direct the game to be replayed.
If a team is losing 6-0 and the losing team gets below the minimum number of players then it is likely that the league will order the result to stand.
However, if a game gets abandoned due to weather deteoriation during the match, then it is more likely that the league will order a replay - this happened a few weeks ago to Connah's Quay Nomads. Nomads were winning 3-0 against Bala Town on a Tuesday night when the game was abandoned after 62 minutes due to fog. The Welsh FA ordered a replay to be played on Friday evening - which Bala won 2-0 thanks to some Nomads players nonavailability due to work commitments or pre-booked holidays. The Tuesday night was the last round of games for the league's phase 1 and there was a two week break scheduled before commencement of phase 2.
