Hold my pipe while I put 7empest on repeat...16 minutes is the warm-up. I will say Tool is your best value on a jukebox..7empest and Invincible get you almost a half hour of music. 🤘😎🤘
That tempo slow down and then the drop...I don't know if I have ever heard a band firing on all cylinders as hard as that. Ever. And the little bass fill at the end of the phrases, fuckin chef's kiss
Dude, no lie, you give very insightful reactions to these tool songs. I've heard all these songs countless times. Despite that you still show me new ways to understand Tool's music. Well done, sir.
I said it before, you gotta sit through all of Disgustipated. It’s part of the journey and a rite of passage as a Tool fan…and not the last time you will be trolled by Maynard and Co. It’s a meditative exercise in patience, and the WTF moment at the end is hard to describe. We’re here for it if you are!
Doesnt matter how many times I've heard these songs. I will always hang around for the long haul. I quite enjoy experiencing first impressions of songs I love vicariously though others. As I can never hear this greatness for the first time ever again.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, the slow down transition into "I'm back down. I'm in the undertow" always gets me. As for Disgustipated, don't break it up when reacting to get the full experience. If you feel the need to cut some of it out for length it's not really a big deal IMO. On the CD it would skip through a bunch of silent tracks after Flood until it reached Disgustipated at 69.
Absolutely. I read your message after I wrote my comment. This album was absolutely the best one they made. Then I heard the cry of the carrots lol then crickets lol. I thought my head unto was broke. I spent good money for that head unit I was almost pisd lol. But coke to find out it was the hidden track.
We (TOOL army) have infiltrated the channel. Welcome... let's SPIRAL OUT together.... again. Check out some Soundgarden for me as well bro.! Loving the early stages of your channel bro.! Keep it rolling brotha!
Another great reaction. I see this one as being about addiction and I think Undertow is a great metaphor. Initially the first couple of times he tries it the feeling is "twice as clear as heaven" and "twice as loud as reason". The third time in the pay offs are greatly reduced "half as high as heaven" and "half as clear as reason" and he can't escape.
Yeah it's almost like a realization that they're becoming a slave to the substance which is why I got that more sinister vibe as the song progressed. Cool observation 💯
Disgustapated has a bonus track included in it. But there is a long period of silence before the bonus part starts and it's at the very end of the track and is very short. I'm thinking 5 plus minutes of crickets chirping. So you should definitely do disgustapated as just one song.
Don't cut it up ..... you'll stay in gauged and prepare you for the evolution. The last song of kinda of foreshadows the direction they are going . Are you gonna to visit the ep. that came before Undertow.? The pure raw beginnings ? if not at least check out Hush and then Opiate the title track and last sound from the ep. It'll reaffirm comments made in this video. Hush applies to this cancel society and it's more than 30 years old. Thanks another great reaction. Looking forward to the next
It'll be well worth. They are even angrier and little more raw , but you'll see that their was something special there. Opiate is still one of my favorite , it was great seeing it performed live again a few weeks ago. The subject matter of both Hush and Opiate I think we can definitely still apply to todays society ... if you do go back on the opening of one of the tracks when Maynard says a like about the Bob Marley looking motherfucker , he is joking at Zack de la Roach , lead singer of Rage Against the Machine I'm not naming the song so you still have surprises but I know that line is questioned a lot
I haven't listened to this album in so long and it's been a totally different experience coming back to it with you and having you break it down. I'm in for this whole thing. When you get to Wings for Marie you'll have to do 2 parts together and it will be like a 40 minute video. We're all cool with that. Also, you should revisit Jimmy from Aenima and Judith from APC before hitting that song.
I remember when I first bought this cd, I had just bought a Macintosh Head unti for my truck, and I thought it was broken because its started running upwards on the tracks until it got to track 69. The cry of the carrots was awesome then of course crickets, which felt like an hour but it was only 8 minutes or something. This album was lit. Epic, probably the best in my opinion that they made
on the part where the song slowed down it’s supposed to represent falling down of addiction, brilliant how they connect the instrumentation of the song with the lyrics
I think it was the docu series Metal Evolution where I heard Tool described as the bridge between Grunge and Metal. Metal fans loved them and Grunge fans just the same, where a lot of the other Grunge bands didn't draw that mutual respect as much. That said, there's a lot of the Undertow album that could almost fit on Sound Garden's album Badmotorfinger. That slow down towards the end of the song Undertow always reminds me of the slow down in Rusty Cage. Obviousl, as Tool progressed beyond Undertow, they got farther away from the Grunge sound. Just something that always comes to my mind when listening to Undertow.
When I got into TOOL Maynards lyrics struck me as nearly supernatural with how good they were/are. Love it so much. Love your break downs and btw it's "silt" 😂. #TOOL
Another great reaction....another great song that doesn't get the attention it deserves! As for Disgustipated, the song itself is only about 6 or 7 minutes. After this album though, be ready for some longer tracks. But you don't have to worry about if your vids are too long....if you play it, we will come! Can't wait for the next one, brother! ✌️
I've gone back to the beginning of your TooL dive so yes, it's older vid.... the ending there makes me feel like that undertow grabbed me by my feet and pulled me under, and i slowly started to die.... the genius in their delivery.
I like that the rhythms have a way of walking forward, then getting pulled back to the beginning with all these stutters and false starts and truncated loops.
Disgustipated had scared the chap out of me. Chilling one summer night, nice buzz on, the first section finishes and I zone out. The song continues for about 7 minutes just the sound of night. Then out of nowhere the serial killer, that's the way I always thought of him, begins to speak. You will just about jump out of your Skin. Great job.. spiral out....keep going
@@Skullzrapper It's my birthday and I keep telling myself, Annie, it's just a number, ur still rocking and rolling old lady🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hope you're having a great weekend 😄😄🙂

Get too close to tidal undertows, and you'll get sucked in...Didn't see Opiate2 in your reaction list....you're gonna love this adventure and the vid. is sci fi magic. Fantastic S.
Yep I'm am now your subscriber I really like the way you break it down by talking about what they are talking about and also talk about how great the music is love it.... keep em coming buddy
Check out gun by soundgarden. It starts off very slow and gradually speeds up throughout the entire song. Pretty badass keep up the good work as I said last comment LOL
This and Flood are my favorites from Undertow. Watching someone’s reaction who can truly appreciate it NEVER gets old! The bass player on the first 2 albums, and half of the third, is Paul D’Amour, and his style’s a good bit different than Justin Chancellor, who’s been with the band since the mid 90s. As far as his playing is concerned, this song is my favorite from him. I play bass myself, and if you go toward the end right after they slow down you’ll hear a couple of curveballs on the low end that are very cool. Simple, but cool nonetheless. The bass is in an odd tuning as well: BADG, which makes for one helluva sloppy, floppy low string! 😂 Also, if you’d like to hear another one from the early days that’s quite angry and aggressive look for “Jerk-Off”. Loving these reaction videos, man! 🤙🏼
‘Undertow’ is the most underrated song of their discography, IMO. Not the best. Not my favorite. Just the most underrated. I never hear anyone say how awesome this song is.
