Looking forward to seeing that plant timelapse. The night mode infrared is awesome, mind blowing what plants get up to when the sun goes down.
I’ve heard a recent update from wyze basically makes the cloud service required to pay and use the app. Apparently it now requires a WiFi connection and cannot record to microsd locally for time lapse. Can anyone confirm the v3 is still viable for time lapse standalone without a WiFi connection? Amazon customer reviews are slamming this thing now for the new firmware updates basically making this useless.
@@shize9ine wow that would be bad, did you ever get to the bottom of this ? Is it just WiFi required or an actual paid-up subscription to their cloud ?

I've got several of these things facing inside and out around the house. Superb value, I should have mentioned them to you!
I just saw your video. We are Southern California and have had a Wyze Cam V3 on our backyard balcony for abut a year and it is fantastic. We also have a $200 (US) Google Nest outdoor cam in our backyard and had one in our front driveway. After 3 years the Nest for our driveway just stopped connecting to wifi no matter what we did, so we just replaced it with another Wyze Cam V3.
The video from the Wyze Cams, especially at night, is leaps and bounds better than the $200 Nest and is a wider view.
The one advantage to the Nest is continuous cloud recording (Timelapse) with your Nest subscription, but that subscription does cost more than Wyze. But overall the Wyze, at $36 is amazing and they now have home monitoring service, doorbells, on and on. The only wish for me is that they could connect to Apple HomeKit (not great on it’s own, but that would be nice).

just a short question regarding the Wyze cam v3. Do you know where I could order a wyze cam v3 from germany without usury of some sellers?
Wyze official conduct shipping to USA, but not to other contries. Amazon germany dont sell the cam and on ebay I just can buy 1 cam for above 80$ and shipping of 30$.

How can we download the timelapse from the device? Do we need to access the SD card to download the timelapse video or can it be done through the app remotely. What about the raw images from the timelapse is it downloadable or only the video can be downloaded?
i'm planning on filming a garage construction. that could be nice. what settings should I use (intervals mostly) i'm very new to this timelapse hobby ! :)

I just did a 24 hour timelapse of snow out my window with the WYZE v3. I like how the sky is blue at night. great camera.
Are you only able to set a Timelapse for the future? Or could you go into past footage on the cam, and make a time lapse from it?

2:25 A 3 second minimum interval is noteworthy considering that many people consider 5-10 seconds to be best the interval time for capturing sunsets.

I just bought 3 from recommendations from Hoocho's. The image quality is atrocious. It would never translate to a youtube video.
Just a little warning, I bought this camera to do seedlings sprouting time lapses but the close up quality of the camera is so bad the biggest plant you can dream doing a worthwhile time lapse of is like a tomato plant, for carnivorous plants dom't even think about it
$36 in the uk it’s £60 but got a 14% so normally £70
Looks great but it's currently being sold for 85€ on Amazon in Europe :-(

You can still use a SD card without the cloud. But if you want motion detection you need to pay 😢

You get what you pay for... the image quality for the price is amazing but its such a hassle to set up and use for a time lapse that i wouldnt recommend this for anything besides a security camera. No internal battery so it needs to be plugged in at all times. Will not support 5ghz wifi which is what my home wifi is. You will need to set up a wifi hotspot to use this if you arent home which will anhilate your data. Your phone is useless while recording, if you leave the app screen it will stop your recording. It takes many tries and a long time to connect to the camera each time i use it, i usually have to type my hotspot name manually because app doesnt recognize it. You cannot view footage or anything at all on camera without being connected to the wifi network. You cannot download or save the footage to your phone from the camera easily, i needed to send the video to inshot and convert it first to have on phone. It takes a while to process the video you just took before you can even view it( which you need to remain connected to wifi for). Basically, takes 15 minutes to set up and conncet each time and chews through phone battery and data at an alarming rate and renders your phone useless for the entire time you want to film a timelapse. Do not recommend for filming time lapses but probably an okay security camera
That sounds bad, have you found another security camera that could do good timelapses on the cheap ?
I guess if someone gives any camera to you sir.... You'll turn it into a timelapse cam
It does time laspe. But only 30days. If u want to do longer than 30days then you are out of luck
run it again on day 30...
