Thank you! I just fixed a 2013 CC, which had these issues, and it went smoothly because of your video. Thankfully I correctly guessed which wires connect back together, because two wire pairs were completely broken, and all 4 wires were totally frayed. The other two pairs were close to breaking too. It took a while clipping and soldering those little brown wires back together (adding some extra wire in between) and it was a pain soldering in the trunk, but all my lights and the latch work perfectly now. This is so helpful. I'm trying to not get totally overcharged to get this fixed in my car. I'm a single mom with 3 kids and my CC is my only vehicle. I need it done asap to get my safety done by the end of the month (Hawaii rules of the road) and I only have 2.5 weeks. Great fix but I must say it is not just a matter of wire length but way of placing it through the trunk. If you run it through the factory plastic guide when it comes out of the trunk hinge and try to close the trunk with you inside it you will find out that it bends too much at a certain point. I dealt with it by not running it through the guide and I left it free to move so it does not bend that much.
@@LewisRhymes Sorry I don't, no longer have the car. I ended up going to dealer to get the harness; there's different harnesses depending if you have backup camera or not. Mine didn't. At the time I got my harness there wasn't a significant cost difference when I shopped around. Dealer can tell with vin which one you need.

Have you got your reg fog lights to work since you added the yellow trigger wire? I believe on CC you don't have to run wire to trunk, you wire it from the euro switch down to CCM under the dash.
I gave up years ago on that. I did install the euro light switch with trigger wire, coded it with vagcom etc tested, tested.... If my memory serves me correct, there is no wire for rear fogs for the positive terminal going from the BCM back to the rear lights. Also, the rear tail lights are missing the inner LED modules that act as the rear fog lamp, the US spec tails do not have.
Had the same issue, replaced the harness itself and still no marker lights or let reverse light, which also operates the rear camera popper. Anyone have any ideas im at a dead end…
I would also check your fuses can't remember the location of the fuse but either, under the hood, driver or passenger interior fuse blocks. Should be documented in the manual.
So these vehicles do what's called a cold bulb diagnostics on startup. It's expecting a certain resistance on a circuit; when you install LEDs you are changing that resistance value causing a false positive. You can look into what's called LED load equalizers, which might work or just switch back to incandescent bulbs. It's your decision, but I have often found that the juice is not worth the squeeze.
What's the status 2 years later? I feel like this needs a new design, I've bought a new harness, and I don't want to go through this multiple times. Some people are saying remove the plastic guide.
I can't say, the white CC from the video was totaled due to a hail storm. However I bought another CC which is still on the original harness from 2013.
My problem is that the lights on the trunk are on when the trunk is open and stay on when I close it a quarter of the way down then turn back on but turn off when the trunk is closed. Any ideas? The dash says check rear parking light.
All I can suggest is to inspect the harness from the connectors starting at the inside left wheel in the trunk all the way into the trunk lid, based on the symptoms could be a broken wire somewhere in the harness. Also me sure to check the connectors for loose pins. Best of luck, sometimes it can be frustrating to take down the issue.

I bought a used 2011 CC and from the look of it the wiring harness has been replaced at least once (I only know that because a couple panel retainers were missing). Also, any references on how to disconnect the wire harness couplings (small type where the break occurs)?
no worries I have had to make repairs 2 times in 4 years. I would recommend you replace the harness with a new OEM part. you can repair it but keep in mind you are increasing the resistance everytime you make a repair, should be fine long term but I can't confirm that simply because it hasn't been long enough

I don't recall which connector on the driver side trunk controls the backup lights. What I would recommend is activating the backup lights without starting the vehicle and unplug one connector at a time until they turn off(or use a test light), I am referring to the connectors shown at 6:03 The green, brown, tan, and black. Once you determine which connector controls the backup lights you then can determine polarity using a meter.
I changed out my wire harness today because of the same issues but that did not solve the back up light problem. I have the same problem with my 2013 CC but it's the passenger side back up light. Any idea what else could be the problem. Maybe the light housing?
I would recommend using a volt meter to ensure you are getting power to the light bulb socket. If not trace back from there. Also double check all fuses (fuse blocks - one under the hood, Driver side & passenger side A pillar) first and ensure bulb in is working order.
Just a follow-up after testing all the fuses I took my CC to the dealership for an oil change and asked them to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. Worked like a charm! My advisor also printed off the wiring diagram for me. I wish it would let you upload pics on here for anyone needing the diagram as the only fuse that supplies power to both reversing lights is fuse 39. Anyway thanks again for your very helpful video and suggestions.
Damon Gammo I have a 2012 vw cc and I’ve already replaced the harness and I still have one light out that is the left running light that’s on the trunk. I tested voltage to it and was getting very little to nothing for one bulb, the reverse and other bulb were both light though. What do y’all recommend?

Assuming you are referring to a CC...I have not experienced that, I would check out the wiring harness in trunk lid/side as shown in video, I'm sure there is a micro switch/switch in the VW logo assembly. That is all that comes to mind since the interior button and remote both work to trigger the latch release.

You should be able to find a wiring diagram online or via alldata. It might be advantageous to buy a replacement wiring harness.

No, the camera wires feed out the trunk lid arm on the right side (passenger) so I would look there first for signs of damage.

My trunk won’t open from the back handle only from the button inside the car or remote control!
