I think this is what makes Floor truly unique, the fact that she is down to earth, despite her success. She enjoys every moment and does not take our appreciation, of her fans, for granted. With the passing of years and some bitter life experiences, there are few people left who have this effect on me, so I'm glad that they exist in this imperfect world. Floor is one of these few bright people, for me. "Do you see me at the darkest hour? Do you hear me when the song is out and lost in all those moods, unarmed?"
Yup, we were there. One of the absolute highlights of an amazing show, preceded by the godmother of happy metal: Anneke van Giersbergen! Floor also doubled as a stand-up comedian and Irene.. incredible presence & power. Jansen & Jansen has always been awesomeness squared! 🤘
It's almost impossible to not fall in love with this lady. Not only because of her immense talent and mesmerizing stage presence, but after watching Floor in interviews, documentaries, and candid clips you'll find that she is a lovely human being - humble, kind, gracious, classy, empathetic, witty, funny, and a true professional. She's a very endearing soul. In my 62 years, I have never heard a female vocalist that moves me more than Floor Jansen. In my book she's simply the best there is.
Her younger sister Irene almost have some of the same power and toning as Floor. In this song - and also in the song 'Drifting Islands' ( on the Nortward album. And they also have some phenomenal duets on Arjen Lucassen's project.
I was there ... and this concert was really something special. First the great Anneke and then Floor. Floor was in a pretty good mood and not only had her sister on stage with her, but her parents also attended the concert. And as has already been mentioned ... Floor was cracking jokes the whole time .... As for the singing ... well it's Floor ... and this recording was probably made with a smartphone ... live, it was even more impressive
She is the One and Only The Goddess Floor ❣ And we are so blessed to be able experience her voice storytelling skills and charisma live ... Hopefully I'm gonna be able to see her again ... She's not from this world 💜 My Angel of music 🔥🤘❤
Yes, the closing song. Floor is so real. She still has baby fat to lose, but she doesn't care. Her fans mean everything to her. She allows us to see her. The real woman. She is special.
I was there that night, it was spectacular. So glad you listen to our Floor Jansen. We are proud! Thank you Redheadedneighbor. And Irene was also nice to hear her sing. We dutchess love you. 😘
Floor has the greatest voice I have ever heard, and she as a person is so sweet and down to earth. I glob compliments on her, and she is just so appreciative and surprised by it all. She has no clue how talented she is, and it is so refreshing.
Great reaction! This performance is special for so many reasons. First the song. From her solo album Paragon it is written by her and talks about waking up from the daydream we found ourselves during the pandemic and re-engaging in the world and other people. Second the performance. As you can see this was a very meaningful performance for Floor. She hadn't performed in almost six months since she collapsed backstage after the Vaasa, Finland show from fatigue. She had been such a warrior, touring a great deal over the previous year with both Nightwish and her solo shows and the last few months while very pregnant. Nightwish ended up having to cancel the last show of the Human Nature tour in Oslo and Floor had to cancel two solo shows. For both Nightwish and Floor, canceling a show is a big deal (checkout the Denver Debacle to see how far Nightwish will go to put on a show) and they really feel like they let the fans down but it was necessary for Floor's health. She then had her daughter Lucy in October. So she is so appreciative of the chance to be back on stage and to let her inner wolf out again (she has a tattoo of a wolf behind one ear representing the side of her that loves to be on stage performing and a tattoo of a dog behind the other representing the side of her that loves to be home with her family and enjoying them and her farm). Being on stage means the world to her. A few words on her sister Irene. As you can see she is a very powerful singer as well and could have had a career as a professional singer but choose to focus on her education and then family in her younger days. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I believe she is a Professor of English and also a senior executive with a language learning company in the Netherlands as well as a mom. She does still perform on occasion like in this concert and recently as one of the singers in the live Ayreon show's in September. Floor and Irene were "discovered" by Arjen Lucassen the Dutch mastermind behind prog rock/metal projects like Ayreon and Star One as teenagers. Irene is a regular in Arjen's different projects and she also has been a guest singer with a few other bands. Here she and a very young Floor are backup singers on the Ayreon song Into the Black Hole from a Star One concert (confusing I know) ua-cam.com/video/oriR8CpI-Io/v-deo.htmlsi=Vjp5RwPL16dZpWLV and here is Irene singing lead on a Alarion song, Turn of Fate, ua-cam.com/video/Y_tscxiEp7g/v-deo.htmlsi=9Ca6QE-Kx8aqQVta. This is the acoustic version of the song which is my favorite because Irene's voice is so prominent in the mix and you can really how beautiful her voice is. Here is the regular full electric version, also great, in which her voice is more powerful to match the heavier sound. ua-cam.com/video/uLUjUXaPynk/v-deo.htmlsi=T8GvdTN8hdv3r_7Y. Ayreon is another fantastic rabbit hole to go down. Start with The Day that the World Break Down.
She is a super woman. She was windmilling with Nightwish at 6/7 months pregnant I think. She also performed her solo stuff live at a Festival last year and then did a set with Nightwish later in the day! Could be a good time to do Nightwish - Ever Dream (Live at Wacken) next where you'll hear a little bit of Marko singing to wet your appetite for one where he duets with Floor. Next suggestion for Floor? Maybe Euphoria.
You should see the video "the road to Amsterdam" that is about Floor's first solo concert (just after COVID). There the Marcel Fisser band explaines a bit about Floor's way of working. She has the rare treat of having absolute hearing, being HSP, being utterly perfectionistic for everybody (including herself) but still create a family like atmosphere around her. She is demanding and pleasant to work with. In one of her concerts in the Netherlands, she took time to mention that she was shocked because her lorry driver got a heart attack the evening before and she told the audience about it. Which star does that? She also said that she did not agree to Nightwish's decision not to tour for the new album (contradicting the press statement by Nightwish). As fior Irene, she sung in some bands and in Ayreon. But she wanted to have a normal life (she studied English at university I believe). But don't underestimate her singing. She can sing as well.
Good analogy, Red. Her voice is like a "silver string", weaving itself in and around the melody and lyrics. It's amazing to hear her sister Irene, singing with her; it's mesmerizing... 😎
When Floor and her little sister Irene get together magic happens, they’re so good together! They also both work together on an Ayreon track I can’t quite remember what it was! Great reaction 🫶🏻

Such an humble, authentic, sensible jet strong Women, letting us have Part in Her Life through Her Craft. It was after the birth of their second child and the family was also at the solo concert. It is one of the few appearances with her sister Irene. She has the same talent but never became a professional singer.
I can only agree with the comments, she's just an amazing human, not just an incredible talent. One of my best friends is a Dutch session musician, and she's met and worked with Floor and says she's just wonderful!

I was at this show. It was Floor fisrt gig after her pregnancy/birth break. She was so happy to be back on stage : smiling, chatting and joking with us between every song. It was a great night. Irene is also amazing : you should check out Dangerous Game from the same show, Irene sung this one too with Floor. Hey Red, a great reaction. To contrast here is a spectacular Floor rarity... from 2012, weeks after she flew to the U.S. to join Nightwish after their singer left suddenly. Floor's breast cancer scare last year put the fear of God into the entire Nightwish army. Fortunately, they caught her cancer very early and successfully removed it. During the pandemic lockdown, every Friday Floor would do a 5 minute spot on YT. She really opened up to alot about their home and farm. She did some songs but alot of really cool interactions. Those 5 minute spots still might on YT. There are at least 2 documentaries detailing Floor. One is a gathering of her former classmates in high school as they discuss the music they did then and what Floor has done since. It moves on to the Tempere concert with her folks in the audience. The 2nd documentary is really personal home life at the families farm in Switzerland. Both are well worth the time to find and watch. Then there is a video of Floor being called by the band asking if she would consider flying to Seattle while learning the bands set list in 48 hours. This one is outstanding as well. You're just getting started so enjoy the ride, it's a real good one !
I think this is what makes Floor truly unique, the fact that she is down to earth, despite her success. She enjoys every moment and does not take our appreciation, of her fans, for granted. Imagine how Nightwish shows would be with both Jansen sisters at the helm. Do it Tuomas!
Irene seems to get better and better with the years. Great to hear her.
Floor's little (but somehow even taller) sister Irene has a completely different sound. They harmonize well together.
Mistress Floor is grеat and beautiful, but I think that Irene (her sister duet) could replace Marco's vocal line in covers of Nightwish songs
If you are planning more Floor songs from the "Beste Zangers" show, make sure to search on Intro or outro as well, with english subtitles, that will add so much more...
So time after all of us history books will comment that people lived amongst two Jansen sisters!

Irene Jansen is slightly taller than Floor FYI, LOL
Irene is Fenomenale..
