I bought this with about $300 today. wish it will give me a lot fo fun.
Love these reviews. I can't tell you how many times I come to these when I am looking for a new board. I ended up picking up the XV Wide based on your reviews and was a bit disappointed that Rossi did away with the serrated edges for the 2023 model. That being said, I got the 165W out in deep powder out west and it was amazing! Great fun in the deep snow as well as carving on soft groomers. I loved the stiffer profile and its ability to barrel through just about everything thrown its way. My only complaint is that edge. Doing most of my riding on the east coast, I would really love to have that edge back when the conditions are hard-packed or icy....which could be pretty often. Might start looking for a 2022 model. If I can't find one, are there any other models that fit this profile that have the disrupted edge? Thanks again for these reviews...They're really great!
Many thanks for the good words and your take. I'm bummed to hear the 2023 did away with their 7s/Magnetraction. I just updated the review on the site to reflect the changes you stated and I'll reach out to Rossignol to test the new model.
Nice review. This thing sounds amazing as a quiver killer. How does it handle wet heavy crud?
From my experience this crushes all crud and slop. I ride the 168W as my daily driver but also ride the 174W on bigger/steeper runs. It's not a forgiving ride and you have to keep up on your game or this board will thump you. That said, it fits my riding personality. I don't stop on the side of runs or slowdown once I point the board downhill. It's stiff and stay on top of chop once things get tracked out. It's locked in on groomers and I can keep up with or pass my skier friends when flatbasing towards the bottom. I love this board so much.
Very well. The XV is pretty damp in all conditions.
Thanks for your take and well said!
What are the major changes (both in ride feel and construction) from the '22 XV and the '23 XV? Thanks in advance for your council and great review
Its hard to say without riding the 2023. I can't tell if it's a re-sizing or a complete re-design or something in-between. I'm hoping to get on it this year and test it.
@@thegoodridesnow Great, look forward to your review! It’s been hard to find any info on changes relative to materials, etc. vs. the ‘22 (which has not changed materially over the last 3+ yrs). I know they were looking to bring some of the dampening tech from the Sashimi to the XV and perhaps the ‘23 is the 1st rev. Of that work - or just cosmetics ;)
@@Justin-bw8zi Thanks and hopefully I can get on it soon.
Hello, what would you recommend jones apollo bindings or niw ride. I can buy both of them for a good price- that’s the reason i am intwresting it them. Thanx dor you message👍
Lately we like the overall feel/response of the Jones bindings vs. the NOW bindings. I'd go Apollo if you want stiff and responsive.
Currently have a Rossi One magtek. Looking at a free ride board and can’t decide between this or a flagship. I want to bomb in all conditions. I only get ten days on the mountain a year so a board that’s good in all conditions is important.
Both boards are a great call. The XV is more turny and the Flagship is better on a straight line but both can go super fast. XV has more grip but the Flagship is close. It really comes down to personal preference.
I vote for the XV as this is my daily driver in a 168w. I'm ad avid powder hound and this board delivers in that regard. But it also rips the groomers and just bombs everywhere. My riding partners are skiers and this board allows me to keep up or pass them especially when things start to flatten out.
I’m in the same exact situation. Ride a 159 One LF on the East Coast but looking for something with strong grip that BOMBS. Curious if the 163 XV is too big for me at 175lbs.
@@TheTominator I'd say the 163 is what you're looking for. This board rides smaller than it's running length, a lot of nose and tail in that 163 measure. If you're good with the personality of a stiff board give it a rip!
@Tom Fay Hard to say not knowing your boot size or weight. Also make sure you go 2022 or earlier with the 7S sidecut. The new one doesnt have the same grip.
