This game always felt so alien to me with the music, the characters and the overall presentation. Super Mario Land 1 looks and plays more basic, but it still has that mario charm you see throughout the series. Super Mario Land 3 still felt pretty off, but that game presents a pretty neat twist with playing as Wario.
god arin was a contrarian loser back then and i never really realized it lmao. "silent hill 2 sucks. symphony of the night sucks. ocarina of time sucks." yeah sure buddy
I know it's been almost 10 years now, I know people change a lot in a long time period, and I know that knowing people more deeply can sometimes cause some bad blood between them. But fuck, hearing them talk about how much they are friends and seeing that now they aren't anymore, makes me upset.
@@Fox_FurryYT it's mostly speculation on my part and the internet's. But for the longest time Arin never mentioned Jon on the channel and Jon likewise. This led people to believe that there was some bad blood between them. But then Arin appeared on Jon's Starcade. So all good right? But then, as years pass, Jon started to expose his political opinions, many of which do come off a bit problematic, and Arin is pretty much the opposite. This caused a lot of fans to speculate if they were on speaking terms. One day, Arin, during the height of the BLM movement, decided to remove from the channel all of the episodes where they said the N word. Someone tweeted something about Jon, kinda criticizing him for being racist or something, and Arin liked the tweet. Jon, when Dan got accused of grooming, posted a cheeky tweet saying: "I guess we won't be getting the Sonic 06 finale", which definitely felt like a jab towards the channel. It's nothing explicit: "I, Arin Hanson, hate Jonathan Jafari". But it feels they're not in speaking terms. But this, now my opinion, isn't the only reason. If a friend moves away, chances are, the friendship is going to go cold eventually, Jon and Arin aren't any different, and knowing how much people change over time, it's not all surprising. Sorry for the long reply, just wanted to give all the info I know haha
@@Naruto_from_the_Naruto_show Plus, with stuff like his more recent videos on Game Grumps, his Zelda Sequelitis video, and just how he seems to handle/treat Sonic stuff, and people questioning his actions, Arin essentially became more big-headed and kind of toxic in his own way, so essentially, the two of them kind of started to age like milk for different reasons; Jon with most likely suffering from the White Nationalist brainworm, and Arin for essentially turning into a mix of Darksydephil and a Sonic anti-fan, with some other possible forms of narcissim on his front.
Arin's opinions about anything* But yep. The fact that the Gameboy was a more limited platform than others at the time, but was a HANDHELD DEVICE that you could take ANYWHERE, absolutely factors into how good a game was. Context REALLY matters sometimes. Of COURSE this game is objectively worse than probably every 2D Mario on a home console ever made. But you couldn't play Super Mario World in the car. You could play this....and it was AMAZING playing even some of the dumbest games on Game Boy, it didn't take much to be entertaining on the go. That doesn't mean every portable game was a cheaply design attention grabber though, some were clearly made with much more passion and creativity than others. Yes, there is a place for saying "these games are simply worse" because of the platform they're on, and I'm not saying that a game is suddenly better designed or exempt from any sort of criticism because it had limitations - but the point is that it just isn't black and white. Games aren't just good or bad. There are so many variables, and so much context that can be factored into the experience of a game. So even in a world where this game has very objective flaws, and X or Y could have been done better, there is also value considering it on a spectrum of other games like it, on the same console. I think both viewpoints are valid.
So weird listening to Arin without Dan..... I love Jon as well, he is a hilarious content creator and he does well with his own work but Arin and Dan's dynamic is literally one of the most genuine things you can find. Rhett and Link as well but that dynamic is special.
The last 45 seconds are eye-opening. "We didn't even do half the things we're supposed to." "Who cares? This is Game Grumps!"
"That witch with NOSE took your HEEEEEART" Has been stuck in my head
I love Dan, but the chemistry between Jon and Arin was so good!
17:25 i love how off the bat arin would just hate play games
Thank u so much for editing & uploading! I appreciate it,plus no money asks! Nice 😂😊
In the OG Super Mario, picking up a Fire Flower while Smol Mario, you just go Beeg Mario, not HotBoiSummer Mario.
if you had shown this comment to Miyamoto in ‘83, it would have completely broken his mind

This was a good idea. I’ve never seen someone compile the Jon videos like this
28:45 Heheheh... these two had no idea why those two words are so funny now.

Gains attention from being a contrarian. Fake it till you make it i guess
And Still is.
He's very bad at criticizing things. But to be fair Jon isn't very good at defending the things he likes.

What did happen between jon and arin? I don't think I know the true reason

I love how earlier when they argue about the fire flower theory that they are actually playing one of the games that do it
"I don't take technologicals into account".
One of the many reasons Arin's reasoning when criticizing games is completely worthless.

How are there no comments on a game grumps comp?
Treasures are dug deeper than others
I'm going though the back-log of stuff I missed, so I know Erin will never see this, but giddammit man... That bet. Like, c'mon.
What do you mean? He was correct. You only go up one level in Mario 3.
Arin showed a lot of his annoying, arrogant and dismissive vibes here that later ruined the show. Still a great comp tho
