The Seattle Mariners are currently leading the American League West and as many other division leaders around the league, they are projected to be buyers at this years MLB Trade Deadline. Last season the Mariners found themselves in between buying and selling, this year should be much different and we breakdown what some of these moves that Passan suggests could be and more in this video! If the first Passan bomb of the deadline season is the Mariners acquiring one of Luis Robert Jr. or any of the other players listed, Mariners fandom surely will erupt.

Im afraid that Luis Robert will pan out like Byron Buxton. Of all available bats, I think Vlad would be the most impactful

I doubt they will aquire anyone exciting offensively we have seen this before jerry will get some quad a guys or someone on the tail end of their career and they to wring the last little bit of value out of hopefully I'm wrong but been a mariners fan for a long time so know not to get my hopes up

We should empty the Farm and get Mason Miller and Roberts JR in our win-now WS window, Bullpen shore up Roberts is a 30-30 guy, and Miller will give us Munoz and another leverage arm forget the 2027 club this team is going to win a WS. With the current ownership you can't just drain the farm. I'm completely on board to go grab a bat and give up some prospects but not empty the farm for a small shot at a ws this year then we suffer for another 20

I think if you believe you can extend cal you trade ford and leeson the prospect impact
Rooker and RA seems like a better fit as to not give up the farm for Vladdy/Roberts.
I’m less worried about 1B with Ty doing better and Locklear called up.
Bullpen could use at least one more arm while we wait for Santos and Speier.
I don't like the idea of Robert...his K/BB ratio is VERY bad...and T-Mobile makes K/BB ratios worse on average

That’s awful trade for White Sox. It’s not enough for an elite superstar.

His lack of durability has to be figured into any package for him. That is not likely to improve as he ages. On the other hand, while many think it would be a trade for 2 years of Roberts at the 6/$50M of his contract, there are also consecutive team options that give the acquiring team 4 years at a very team friendly price.
Young and Peete for Alonso. He’s a rental so that’s fair imo as long as we can re-sign him.
Ford, Clase, Hancock, Locklear, Calzone and lower prospects for Robert.
Aiden Smith-- call him up
Trade whatever combo of 2-4 lower prospects to bolster the pen. Rentals are fine (Sea us Wald 2.0…?)

Garver to backup catcher, trade a couple prospects and Sam Haggerty for Pete Alonso. Pretty unreal how low the batting averages are throughout the lineup starting with JP
Jp was out for a month and had a slow start he will catch up. The rest of the team definitely needs to pick it up and that’s starting with Juliooooo!!!!

Knowing the mariners front office, I dont know why Robert's name keeps coming up. Will cost a haul for a player averaging 60 games a year
I am vehemently opposed to acquiring any position player with significant injury history and especially any position player who comes from an offensively favorable ballpark. I am sick and tired of grabbing guys for the numbers they produced when they were 29 and playing in a hitter's haven. It doesn't work. We have to get players who fit our park and who are bankable assets.
Mariners bring up Tyler locklear and will play in sunday's game against Kansas City.

You guys are hi on Vlad....he sucks defensively...and we need our field help...stop waisting time and go get Roberts...he is a beast and exactly what we need...power bat good defender and multiple years left.
Vlad won a Gold Glove in 2022. Robert is injured alot. And apparently the White Sox want more than the Nats got in the Soto deal.... so....
The truth is Hoskins costs 7m more than Garver and has .800+ OPS. Matt Vierling has a .809 OPS and is a penny stock. Cedanne Rafaela costs nothing. They always go for the wrong guys.
And because of this... hard pass on this Robert Trade.
We need to talk about Jo Adell and Andrew Vaughn. And we need a couple of core guys play better.

Colt Emerson or Emerson Hancock? Colt is a far bigger "Hell no" for me than Young and Montes. But I've got no problem selling Hancock.

I guess I find Young and Montes more expendable than Colt Emerson because Laz is going to be a mostly bat only asset as he ages, with that not so good body and Young is at a position we have plenty more of in the minors, in Celesten, Peete, Arroyo, Dawel Joseph etc. And right now, Emerson is absolutely flying up the prospect ranks. Many scouts feel he is a special player. Plus, it looks like he will have the power and arm to play 3B, which is a problem position for Seattle.
@shawnuel ya I don't think Young stays at ss probably 2nd. Him and Emerson are very close to the same player right now so I could see either being dealt just see Young as bring closer to ready and the Ms time is now imo. Montes will 100% be a dh but that's still an important position and been an absolute struggle for the Ms lol.

I dont think ownership will take on Robert's contract. If they do, it will be at the expense of not extending george, logan, or cal.
