In your 50’s ? Not to worry you can do all the stuff you do now. I’m 71 and still doing everything you do. Just takes a little longer Great video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You don't need a larger machine, just a place you can dump the firewood in a pile, and be able to scoop it up with the tractor and a firewood bucket. Regardless anytime you gotta deal with firewood you gotta stack it somewhere or pile it up somewhere and then pick it up later with equipment LOL. My firewood guy just dumps the firewood in front of the wood shed, and I hand carry/stack it from there every year...usually 3-4 cords a year, and it takes me forever to do so but I only work at it maybe a half hour to an hour at a time until its done, then I use the tractor and bucket and clean up all the smaller pieces to use for kindling and dump it in 30 gallon garbage cans....it seems to work good for me that way...sure would be nice if the firewood stacked itself though LOL. Up until the year before my grandfather passed away at 94 years old, he would go out during the day while I was at work and stack firewood for a while until his back started bothering him then he'd quit, and do the same thing off and on throughout the week. The cab that fits the BX series is close to $10,000 if you want the heater as well...I think about $15,000 if you want the heat/AC version....so you are close to the cost of the tractor itself just to add a cab LOL.
@wildbill23c I have the concrete area for the scraps that go to my dad. I wouldn't want to scoop it like that for customers. It gets a lot of chaff mixed in. Firewood is work, any way you "stack" it, lol. My cab is very effective and I just can't see spending that kind of money for a real cab. Hey, it works! 🤠👍
Pretty smart tractor cab. I plowed 3 feet of snow out of our cul-de-sac and a few neighbors driveways here in MD several years ago with my New Holland TZ 25 DA, which is very similar to your BX. I froze my keester. As you said, not the temp, but the wind and everything blowing around and back on me. That cab would have been a life saver. I may need to look into that. Nicely done!
Good morning Sam. Beautiful day here in Pa. Man I love the way you rigged that cab cover. That is just as good if not better than the thousand dollar cab you could have bought. You are really generous with the firewood delivery. That keeps good customers coming back. You're a good man with a good heart. Always look forward to each new video of you doin stuff. Take care my friend. See ya later.
Good morning glad to see you doing stuff. We have a very similar dump trailer used it yesterday to haul away a bunch of dead branches. It takes some work to load but very easy to dump.
I stacked just like you do the first couple years I did firewood and just as you mentioned, lots of handling of wood that way. I switched to bulk firewood bags this past couple years. You can still put the bags out in your field and it actually dries a little better in the bags because the wood isn't stacked so tightly in the bags. When it comes time to load up, just lift and dump into a trailer or dump truck and away you go. I don't think the little BX would lift one, but maybe the excavator would get it done in some way. Just my experience that I'm sharing. Lots a folks just prefer to stack and handle the wood. To each their own.
Great ideas. Another caveat is it has to look neat so my wife approves, lol. I'll figure it out. I have some ideas and it'll change before I get too much older 🤠👍
@@samsdoinstuff The bulk firewood bags don't look that bad. The log lift ones are even see through on two sides and white on the other two. They can be set nice in a row just like totes. Difference is they all hold 1/3 of a cord instead of just under that like the totes.
Good day Sam! Fall is the perfect time to plant grass seed. You get the benefit of the spring melt off and rains and the soil temperature warms the way it should. Seed and either straw covering it or erosion blanket will work wonderfully.
You need winch or a come-along. Sooner or later using muscle power leads to a bad back or worse. Unfortunately, that won't help with the wood stacking, but moving that evergreen - yes.
Thank you! You know, I thought the exact same thing when I was pushing on that thing. Maybe mount a 2" receiver in the front of the trailer? I already have a 3k lb winch. I originally thought i was going to cut that tree into pieces... lighter pieces, lol 🤠👍
@@samsdoinstuff I use a come-along. Portable and easy to mount on a tree, trailer... whatever. And cheap. You come up with a solution for lugging rounds and stacking firewood, let us know.
SAM take the SAW and Cut 1-2 inches into the Stump you just cut and cut a Checkerboard slices and pour EMPSOM SALT and water into the top of stump it will ERODE Faster and dont cover if it rains NOWORRY the EPSOM salt will continue to go depeeper into stump good luck
Sam, when tilling that close to the tree have you ever hit any roots? I know the slipper clutches are supposed t help with that but I was pondering as you tilled what happens at the tiller when you do get into some roots and what size it would plow through, and at what point can you not till that area? Great video Sam! Keep doing stuff!
Great question. I was worried about that too the first time I used it. It is a beast. If it hits something it won't cut through, it will either bounce off of it or the slip clutch will do it's job. Same with rocks. That King Kutter XB48 is built very well 🤠👍
You really should! It's definitely worth it. We did a smaller "fall themed" party for my daughter's birthday this year. There was too much going on to decorate for a big Halloween party, unfortunately. Maybe next year 🤠👍
Great question. It really depends on the species of wood and if it's green or seasoned. The average weight of a cord is around 3,000 lbs. But a dense hardwood like red oak can be as much as 6,000 lbs. 🤠👍
@stuartkorte1642 You all know i don't like to spend money. We're all frugal, I'm sure. But, I will spend money on machines that will save my back or my time. A bigger tractor is in my 5 year plan. I'll certainly have one before I'm 60. That will give me the ability to lift and dump ibc totes and the tractor will do everything else around the property too. That foam cannon is fantastic 👌 There are soaps that have polish and shine in them that would be good for cars, but I just use Dawn dish soap on the machines because it gets the grime off better 🤠👍
The only problem I see with the video is your friend is wearing a steelers shirt Go Eagles .You are still a young pup and wait till you hit seventy it will just take a little longer
@richardschaffling9882 Haha! I like the 49ers, lol. Marvin's a great guy so I won't hold it against him. I hope I'm still kicking when I'm in my 70's. Thanks for the inspiration 🤠👍
