This was by far Midway's best N64 sports title and a favorite of mine. It's simple play mechanics, over the top action and awesome multiplayer made for some great couch multiplayer. I owned this back in the day and we'll never get a series like it again because EA's monopoly on the NFL license. They attempted to revive the series without the NFL license with LT(Lawrence Thomas), back in the day, but it didn't pan out. Great review Glenn, even though you aren't a fan of American football. 🤘
Glenn I'm a huge N64 fan since my childhood and I watch your show for years now. I'm so glad you still stick to the goal to review every N64 game and I want you to know that you made me a collector again. Thank you!
loved this channel. huge n64 fan. i loved this game back in the day. announcers were hilarious and this game had the funniest rubber banding ai ever. you could be up by three touchdowns and fumble the ball over n over again so your friend could catch up
I have a feeling though Raiden is only available on the playstation version though. Maybe someone can confirm this but I do know he is in this installment of NFL Blitz.
im doing it for them as i didnt want this to happen and wish the pay the people who died respects even though i am not a football fan at all its in tribute and willing to do something to never forget what happened and how its sad they passed to quickly
@@xboxonevideos7685 so yeah i still didnt get to do it yet but i swore my next N64 purchase will be the later games. im not a football fan at all but i do wanna pay tribute to those innocent people. The game does look fun and every time i play it i will have them in my mind
You summed up my thoughts on American football perfectly. It was always curious to me how many NFL games there seemed to be on the N64 it felt like there was a new one every few months, although it could be all the other NBA and NHL games blending into one
My favorite Midway sports games on N64 is NBA Hangtime and NFL Blitz 2001: Special Edition. Arcade sports have a lot of fun in them that you won't find in simulations.
I love sim sports games but there is something more immediately engaging about arcade sports games. NBA Jam is my favorite but me and my little brother spent a large amount of hours on NFL Blitz.
Another great review. I was fortunate enough to get an original cart of NFL Blitz Special Edition for my N64. That is my go to football game for the system. I also love NBA Jam on the system as well.
While I am more of an Australian Rules Football fan, I did have the time to delve into other codes of Football. Only saw the NFL videogames from a friend's house and I found that it was funny with players to ground pound the opponents to the ground when in a tackle. When it comes to sport games, the more outrageous and the more unrealistic the moves are, the more fun it was to play.
This is a cool review.. But do you know how to play this game? I see you don’t any turbo on offense or defense.. no stiff arms, no spins.. diving or sliding..
Nice review of NFL Blitz 2000 ! Even though I have not played this game, I've played NFL Blitz 2001 though. I did not know the rule of football at the time, but I got my butt whooped in my review / gameplay of NFL Blitz 2001 that I done a few years ago. Lol.
'14 Yard Pass. Second Down & 16' WHAT!?! LOL! How many penalties did you give up to be in that position! If American Football is not your cup of tea Glenn, may I recommend Canadian Football (my style of pigskin!) as seen on BT Sport. It has a variety of different rules to it's American counterparts, such as a bigger and wider field, bigger end zones, 3 downs to make 10 yards, unlimited motion before the snap, to name a few. It's always fun to watch punts returned for 65+ yard touchdown runs! Interesting that you would upload an NFL video close to the start of the new season: I'll have an 'Intro Theme' video myself on Thursday for the official 2018 kick off. Perhaps another for Sunday too.
Thanks for all the great content! You and SNES drunk are the best game reviewers! How many games do you have left to do for the N64, if you don't mind me asking?
I really enjoyed Nascar 99 on the N64. I grew up with it and it's simulation style of racing is a nice break from the chaos of other racing games like Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Lego Racers. I also enjoy the music and commentary of Nascar 99, even though it is a bit repetitive.
As an american football fan i really loved the blitz series. Glad the n64 got a few titles out of that franchise. NBA showtime was also great on the n64 very hard for me to pick but i'd go with showtime. Both games are best enjoyed when playing against a friend. Hey Glenn did you get to play them on the Dreamcast? With a vga cable the game is almost an arcade perfect port. Loading isnt too bad either.
American football games are too long, too much stop and start for each play etc. sure if you watch us soccer it sucks but if you want premier league or La liga it’s perfect
I think you mean... "EEENNNNFFFFELLLLLL BLITZ!!!!!!!!" Haha, played many hours of the original game with my little brother back in the day. We rented this one (as well as the other sequels) and liked the new features/environments it offered; but we never felt inclined to purchase any of them. The original had the formula down from the start. I own all 4 of them now for collecting reasons But, I still break out the original if old friends come over for a cold one and some N64!
I loved this game. Too bad, we are doomed to just Madden games forever . I have not bought a Madden game since 2003 but people still buy it. If EA loses the license, maybe this series can come back
I may be alone on this, but I found the soundtrack in Blitz 2000 to be a bit of a downgrade compared to the original’s. Where’s that cool halftime jingle? Or the end-of-game hip hop tune? Instead, it was just the same boring song after every quarter.
I've personally never cared for American football video games. Too much planning and not enough action. That said, my interest is piqued. Off to Amazon!
I absolutely adored this game. I appreciate what you do man..the nostalgia is real
thanks :) that's what this channel is all about
The only football game I ever liked playing. I remember the commercials for this and the arcade game for this too.
I’ll have to see if I can find and watch those

The crazy sport games era were fun times
yeah agreed
+1
Nhl hitz NBA jam NBA hangtime

Thanks manny! 😍
The fact that you use the "not my cup of tea" idiom about American Football is hilarious. Love your reviews!
Thanks Aaron! 🏈
The good old days when u can seriously rough up the QB passer 🤣
rough up or power bomb haha
You should check out the Xbox sequel then, you can literally break his neck and take him out of the game!
As far as n64 multiplayer titles go, I feel like this one gets overlooked. A true gem.
Yeah I think the whole series does because it’s a sports genre thing
I think Raiden from mortal kombat is in this game too.
That’s awesome
😲😲😲 I forgot it!
I have a feeling though Raiden is only available on the playstation version though. Maybe someone can confirm this but I do know he is in this installment of NFL Blitz.
Raiden is in every version, name RAIDEN code 3691
@@RaydenUMK3 Thanks for confirming it.
Continuing to tackle players after the whistle blows is a lot of fun.
RIP people at the madden tournament in florida
im gonna be getting the games sequels of 2001 and special edition in their memories
🙏🏼👍

Yeah especially American football there’s a huge amount
One of my most played N64 games back then. 4 player action was so good.
4 players and this gets lit
Best football game out there. I only played it on PS1, but I spent so many hours and got a ton of laughs from it. Great review as usual.
My favorite Midway sports games on N64 is NBA Hangtime and NFL Blitz 2001: Special Edition. Arcade sports have a lot of fun in them that you won't find in simulations.
Stay tuned, blitz 2001 will be up on Monday
I love sim sports games but there is something more immediately engaging about arcade sports games. NBA Jam is my favorite but me and my little brother spent a large amount of hours on NFL Blitz.
Both great games!
I was into blitz so much when it first released i have the 2001 version on the n64 it is so much fun to play.
yeah man 2001 was a great edition
Another great review. I was fortunate enough to get an original cart of NFL Blitz Special Edition for my N64. That is my go to football game for the system. I also love NBA Jam on the system as well.
I’ll cover special edition soon😬
I loved this game growing up
Me too kenny
Great Review 👍
thanks Albert

I still play blitz 2001 every week for N64. I might say it's my favorite game or all time
Wow high praise right here
@@n64glennplant my old high school and college friends come over every week for blitz and worms! Always a good time
Notice there is no play or button to "take a knee" back in those days 😓😔😒

ill get around to 2001 sometime and of course special edition
Cool ! :D
I miss all the crazy sports games like this and NBA Street.
NBA Street - old school 😍
Family holidays was awesome you just never know when the fumble was going to happen total game changer
Fumbling with your family!?! 😐
Have you considered doing PS1 reviews as well? Never had a N64 but love watching its reviews. You have a fan here for sure!
I had a ps1 back at the same time but always preferred N64 but who knows what I’ll do after this
I have a n64 and I’m defiantly gonna get blitz, but which one should I get? 2000 or 2001
Both great, very similar so go with whatever you can get cheapest 👍

all that went straight over my head haha. I do have BT sport however and my dad is Canadian but even he didn't like it as far as I know
Huh. Never knew that.
Anto RetroGamer it's always 30 yards to go on a new down. No penalties in this game haha
I use to play this game every single day it's so much fun
yeah its one of those games you could always come back to and keep playing for fun
Thanks for all the great content! You and SNES drunk are the best game reviewers! How many games do you have left to do for the N64, if you don't mind me asking?
60 plus Japanese titles, some of which I doubt I’ll cover like majong etc
Alright, thanks for responding!
N64 Glenn Plant When are you going to review Quest 64 or Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko?
It could be....
It might be!...
It is!!!!....
*Gets smacked and broken on the 10 yard line*
i own 2 copie's of midways nfl blitz 2000 on ps1 & n64 such a good game i needed 2 copies.

I think I’ve reviewed that before on this channel
Can you review Madden Football 64,Madden 99,Madden 2000,Madden 2001 and Madden 2002.
one day! ill probably do them all in a one video retrospective
@@n64glennplant Madden 2000 was trash🤣 Can't wait to see your review.

How to play Blitz 2000:
1. Get codes out of a Tips & Tricks magazine.
2. Pass Interference the CPU.
3. Hulk Hogan Leg drop.
Haha the leg drop is awesome I loved that too
Wait did he say American football is slow compared to soccer (football)? No way I just heard that lol. Other than that, great review.
American football games are too long, too much stop and start for each play etc. sure if you watch us soccer it sucks but if you want premier league or La liga it’s perfect
Love this game
Cowboys had quincy Carter which sucks but they had Galloway

I played the hell out of this game. So much fun. But definetly alot better when you play against a friend.
I think so too like many of the midway sports games :)
N64 Glenn Plant agreed. The N64 in general had great multiplayer games. Love the videos Glenn. Sendin love across the pond from Pittsburgh👍
When I saw this in the arcade when I was 12 my first thought was Holy COW they're mauling each other O_o
Haha yeah gets like wwf at times
The greatest arcade sports game ever!
I loved this game. Too bad, we are doomed to just Madden games forever . I have not bought a Madden game since 2003 but people still buy it. If EA loses the license, maybe this series can come back
You find football slow and tedious in Europe? How about cricket and soccer?
You go to cricket to get drunk 👍

If that does not work try E-bay.
Hope you enjoy it
I had this game when it was new, some terrible kids broke in my house stole it,. Karma got them, they lost more than a game😎.
DA bears
These graphics are so washed out! Even sports games from ‘98 look better!
