19:31 Very interesting that Mason didn’t say Reznov told him to kill Steiner or give a brief explanation why Reznov wants Steiner dead. He just indirectly admitted that he did what the numbers told him.
That little part at the end of the briefings where the numbers appear in the eye and then you see the character you playing as was my absolute guilty pleasure back then
“Your handler Jason Hudson was sent to Kowloon to interrogate Clarke. DO YOU REMEMBER?” *WHY KEEP ASKING? YOU ALREADY KNOW EVERYTHING* the comic relief in this is gold
Even after a decade this COD campaign still has one of the best plots, best voice acting, and introduced some of the best characters in COD history. Cold War's campaign wasn't bad but it will never hold a torch to this masterpiece.
8:43 the most chilling bit of cutscenes, you almost thought you was gonna see your character just straight up END the President the freaking Chief of the US!
18:41 is pretty sad if you think about it. Up until Blops2 Mason had thought he was the only survivor of is team, thatll scar ya for sure. Funny to think it was the same thing with Soap from MW, he thought he was the sole survivor after Zakhaev until the Gulag mission.
Sound like what your friends and classmates do when they think you have a crush on someone Them: Whats her name? You: Fuck you! Them: What class is she in? You: Kiss my ass!
God, seeing all the hidden messages and subtle statements in these scenes pointing to the fractures in mason's mind and his subconscious goals is just... stunning. They don't make em like this anymore. I miss the early 2010s.
Don't know if anyone will see this, but the parts where it goes into Hudson's point of view, no numbers show up. At the final mission, when Mason finally knows what the numbers mean there's no numbers when it transitions to the final mission. Very interesting details.
The best cod game ever! Funny detail, in the first cutscene where they showed USA and the USSR mapped, the USSR didn't have Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan or Lithuania even though the USSR had all those countries after world war 2
@@TypicalMan Also for the Kowloon mission (1968), they used a HKSAR(Used since1997) Flag to represent Hong Kong, which they should have replaced with a Dragon and Lion Flag (Used during the British colony era 1959-1997)
Always loved the visuals to this game, and how they always changed depending who you’re playing as, you see the numbers when you’re playing a mission as Mason, but you see everything clearer when you’re playing as Hudson. It’s the little details like that.
Pause at 19:43 and read about the Cheyenne and Greenbrier military complexes, both are extremely fascinating locations, this game knew its cold war history and locations so goddamn well.
30:58 Its weird no one points out how after Revelations, the character screen of Mason before a mission changes from the dark and surrounded by numbers Mason for the mission debrief Mason, just like Hudson's missions intro, I know its obvious but its interesting how they point than Mason is no longer on doubt for his loyalty (or sanity) and how the John F. Kennedy speech its mix with the "Dragovich, Kravchenko, Steiner" phrase

It helps decipher the numbers
Whose the lady though?
Might be masons granddaughter

@Big Crunch not really, the only person that affects the country is the whoever the president is. I mean country in terms of freedom and law
That walk during Mason's revelation is probably one of the best parts of Black ops, his VA did a fantastic job
31:49 such a relief back then when this scene played.
So much freedom and coolness in it.
Damn we were happy after this badass campaign.
And right after that scene, gets thrown into zombies :D
That was surprising.
Such a shame we will probably never getting something like this again.
22:23 "oh god he's back at rebirth"
I loved the reference to these interrogation rooms in Black Ops II, where you're on the mission where you go past a setup much like this one, and the guy you're with (can't remember names, srry) reminds you that there were hundreds all over the US in the 60's. Creepy :/
RobTheCasualGamer think the mission name was something Angel maybe Fallen Angel?
It’s Fallen Angel all right, and the guy who tells you about the rooms is Harper, your friendly soldier

i love this storyline it's my favorite. You start out confused, and as the story goes on the more you learn, it's my favorite story line out of all the call of duty games.
19:40-20:00 always gives me chills
Because its fucking scary. Thinking about how close to all out war they were. Even if fictional it's still terrifying.
MASON!...FOR THE LAST TIME!
WHERE IS THE NUMBERS STATION!???
Moscow has gone dark. We are out of options. A pre-emptive strike on Russia is prepared. The president WILL AUTHORISE.
@@ZombieGuy2401 The story may have been fictional, but the tensions were absolutely real
And it’s absolutely realistic. That’s what makes it scarier

19:31 Very interesting that Mason didn’t say Reznov told him to kill Steiner or give a brief explanation why Reznov wants Steiner dead. He just indirectly admitted that he did what the numbers told him.
He was snapping in and out of his brainwashed state.
That little part at the end of the briefings where the numbers appear in the eye and then you see the character you playing as was my absolute guilty pleasure back then
Notice how they only appear when you play as Mason until the final mission or as Reznov
@@dtxspeaks268 There are no numbers in the final briefing because Mason broke free from the brainwash
@@MrMiguel211 I know. I was just spitting a fun fact
11:34-12:06 the music matched with the images and dialogue is unmatched. Black ops 1 is the best cod of all time.
The level is not my favorite, but damn, the briefing for that mission is the best one
the plot could easily go for a good movie or series. Amazing plot and btw amazing voice acting!
30:04 The best scene of all cod games.
Idk bout that coz killing makarov is pretty good (its satisfying but sad at the same time)
😡😎 LETS ROCK the scene says
“Your handler Jason Hudson was sent to Kowloon to interrogate Clarke. DO YOU REMEMBER?”
*WHY KEEP ASKING? YOU ALREADY KNOW EVERYTHING*

0:37 that screaming.
0:54 “give us what we want and we’ll guarantee your safety”
0:58 *proceeds to harm him*
Even after a decade this COD campaign still has one of the best plots, best voice acting, and introduced some of the best characters in COD history. Cold War's campaign wasn't bad but it will never hold a torch to this masterpiece.
“Oh my god. The numbers are real!” Best. Line. Ever.
8:43 the most chilling bit of cutscenes, you almost thought you was gonna see your character just straight up END the President the freaking Chief of the US!
Especially with the screeching too.
ESPECIALLY because at one point in the cutscene THE TVS ARE LITTERALLY PLAYING FOOTAGE FROM JFKS FUNERAL AND LEE HARVEY OSWALD in the background
This scene scared the shot out of me when I first played the game
Sounds nice
Is that when it screeches a sound from zombies like the background music
19:58 I loved how the interrogator snapped XD

@@BigBossBeta the whole scene is tense and just builds more and more I enjoy it alot too
18:41 is pretty sad if you think about it. Up until Blops2 Mason had thought he was the only survivor of is team, thatll scar ya for sure.
Funny to think it was the same thing with Soap from MW, he thought he was the sole survivor after Zakhaev until the Gulag mission.
Cold War retconned that and now Woods escaped Hanoi and met up with Mason not long after BO1. Not so sad and scary.
Why would something like that scar a person?

This campaign was like a movie, best campaign in any cod and probably any video game tbh
Sound like what your friends and classmates do when they think you have a crush on someone
Them: Whats her name?
You: Fuck you!
Them: What class is she in?
You: Kiss my ass!
Hey, that's my name and my home name!
🤣
When your own country is interrogating you..Different feeling
That makes sense Viktor Reznov was only helping Mason to escape, not himself not everyone only Mason so he can avenge him.
28:25 for some reason I love watching this scene
29:52
"cuba..."
**puts on glasses and guitar riff plays**
i would pay to watch this in the theaters with some extra new scenes added
Suggest that you just play the game instead
God, seeing all the hidden messages and subtle statements in these scenes pointing to the fractures in mason's mind and his subconscious goals is just... stunning. They don't make em like this anymore. I miss the early 2010s.
you shouldve shown the killing of Dragovich
Don't know if anyone will see this, but the parts where it goes into Hudson's point of view, no numbers show up. At the final mission, when Mason finally knows what the numbers mean there's no numbers when it transitions to the final mission. Very interesting details.
The best cod game ever! Funny detail, in the first cutscene where they showed USA and the USSR mapped, the USSR didn't have Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan or Lithuania even though the USSR had all those countries after world war 2
SpetZemas instant sub for mentioning my country
@@TypicalMan Also for the Kowloon mission (1968), they used a HKSAR(Used since1997) Flag to represent Hong Kong, which they should have replaced with a Dragon and Lion Flag (Used during the British colony era 1959-1997)

Twisted storyline. Better than averaged movies out there
Back when call of duty story telling was at its peak and made history so damn interesting
The final cutscene gives me chills every time.
I only watched this to see Hudson explains. My game crashes after Hudson punch Mason. Damn it.

I only watched this to see the end, seeing Mason zoomed in.
Reginald Cajot same
Always loved the visuals to this game, and how they always changed depending who you’re playing as, you see the numbers when you’re playing a mission as Mason, but you see everything clearer when you’re playing as Hudson.
It’s the little details like that.
Pause at 19:43 and read about the Cheyenne and Greenbrier military complexes, both are extremely fascinating locations, this game knew its cold war history and locations so goddamn well.
5:59 Still one of the best scenes in Cod history! Still gives me chills
Reznov’s birthday is 4:20 ayyyeee! Ironically though he and Hitler share the same birthday.

These intros are always cool
Oooh, I've never noticed that at 14:08 when the still portrait of Reznov appeared, his head flashes as a skull, foreshadowing his later revealed death

This is some of the best voice acting ever. Harris and Worthington especially
The Black Ops/World At War series have some of the coolest cutscene aesthetics I have ever seen.
Meanwhile, Adler’s brutally torturing the shit out of a Russian POW from Rebirth.

The cutscenes are just art, never seen before it's so amazing and eye catching, I keep coming back to this video just to look at them. Amazing work 3arc!
The voice acting and music at 17:35 is so good esp with Mason "my god...the numbers, they're real!"

I loved this campaign. Especially the revelations part blew my mind.
Amazing voice actors. Even though I love Cold War’s campaign, the original Black Ops blows it out of the water.
Missing these days as a kid playing the campaign. 😔
The way this game just pulled you in man. You don’t see that anymore. I compared cutscenes to newer cods and it’s just not the same. And I mean newer cods not like bo2 that one was good too but it’s literally just as good as a movie. I played the entire campaign in one sitting.
15:18 is by far my favorite scene in this game.
“We wanted Steiner alive! Why did you have to kill him?!”
“Because the damn numbers were telling me to! How many times do I have to tell you!?”
