Love Barcelona and love how you've captured it here. Really enjoyable walk around with you in this video, seeing the sights and then how you interpret them - you're absolutely right, photography gives us the motivation to explore and to really pay attention to our surroundings. Nice that you're using the X100V too, keeping it small and simple. I'm experimenting with it as my only camera for some future trips. PS - and bonus points for Nomad coffee, one of the best in Europe! Great video!
Gordon - What a dope comment, thank you! I LOVEEEE being led by my camera, and what interests me, which makes me insufferable to travel with, but it always leads to good photos ;). To me, the x100v simplifies everything so much so that I forget I am even being limited by my equipment, where as I think if I had multiple zoom lenses, I would be constantly worried about whether I had the right focal length on my camera ahah. Nomad really know how to do coffee 😎 looking forward to when they explode all over LDN
5:50 Hello! Congratulations on the photos. He always thought that Spain does not offer the same possibilities as London for street photography. At this minute you mention the difference in architecture with London, what does that have to do with black and white photography? I wish I could live in London, I think it's the perfect city for any photographer.
Thanks for the comment! I wasn't clear enough in what I was saying about why I was shooting in black and white, my apologies. What I meant was because of the rain and the lack of sun, I was going to shoot in black and white. The reason for this is in my opinion colour photography works much better when there is a lot of available light to make colours more saturated. As there wasn't much light, I prefer to switch to black and white to play with shapes and shadow
10:15 in regards to this subject, I think it all depends on the story you're trying to tell. One of the reasons why we purchase these type of cameras is for the adjustability, thus enabling us to be more creative, thus better story. If we're stuck with a specific aperture or shutter or setting it could also result in a dull series of photos.
Whats up Moses - Thanks for ya comment. Perhaps I didn't quite communicate my thoughts accurately, as it was less a comment on using the same settings, because even at f2 you can go from having a razor thin line of sharpness to having the majority of the frame in focus. To me, the issue was more in relation to the 'interest' of the photo being purely about the characteristics of lens, rather than the story itself. That having been said, I completely agree that this type of camera pushes us to be more creative as we are more limited which allows us to tell a better story. Thanks for commenting and sharing your insight my dude
This was a super fun one. That banger image in the puddle was 👌🏽. I’ve noticed myself shooting more at 5.6-8 recently as well and seeing better results with my compositions. Spot on…well done. Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it Eddy! Yeah that photo is probably the best thing I’ve shot in 6 months ahaha There is something about forcing your arm to remove all equipment hacks and expose your skills as a photographer. Pushes you in new ways to become better, which at the end of the day is the goal! Thank you for commenting and sharing the love, it’s much appreciated ❤️
I like where you are coming from in your enquiry as to what makes good images. I always ask myself, do I really want this picture, do I feel excited, is it worth printing? Do I care , or in your case is it just padding for a UA-cam video ? This is fine, but then it’s like shooting for a client, (The Video) and not shooting for yourself, which is obviously valid. What pictures would you print if you were not doing a video, what would You shoot to print, or do I want this ? Came to this video a bit late, very much enjoyed it, and love the fact that unlike many other UA-camrs you seem to take a self more reflecting philosophical view of your work. Love the honesty.
Eyyyy thank you my dude! I’m glad you’ve noticed the thought I try to extend to my work :) That’s exactly the thought process I try to employ to keep me honest, and to keep me pushing forwards. As we develop as photographers we need to keep this in mind to continually push us forwards 🙌 Thanks for commenting dude, really appreciate it
that was one of the best street photography videos I've ever seen! and I adored your music choice - would you like to share your playlist or even spotify account??

I love Barcelona! Great to see things are getting normal and people walking around without masks :) Great video by the way, loved how you captured the whole story :)
Mate, when I saw a banger photo earlier in the video, I was like, wow too fast, and you haven't showcased it fully. I was happy to see it later, at the end of the video, again this photo and how you took it. Well done and hope you enjoyed Barcelona!
I was just in Barcelona in November - it's such a photogenic city. Took some of my best photos there! I definitely need to come back and make some new photos after watching your video. Your work emits such a particular nostalgic feeling. Definitely, something I want to try to encapsulate in my work as well. In due time though! Much love from New York!
You are not wrong my dude - Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful to capture! Glad that you love the images so much! Something which might help you create this kinda vibe in camera is to shoot so your camera is flat (i.e. not tilted up or down.) This means that all of your vertical lines are vertical and not being in or out which I find makes images look quite painterly. Great for shooting stuff thats at eye level, not ideal when photographing tall buildings ahaha
Man I wanna buy the X100V so bad !!! Gonna wait til' after the Fuji announcement tho, don't wanna rush it lol. Oh yeah, that photo at 1:23 was sick !!!

So many great shots to choose from the first skateboarder one really stood out to me though. Great video as always. Will we be getting an editing one soon?
Yoooo TY Ant - that skater shot is defffffooo one of my favourites from Barcelona. Will be on the gram shortly! I’ve tried to make an editing video in a way that is genuinely really useful to you guys, and have struggled as I think the typical format is too geared towards, this is how you editing THIS photo, rather than sharing the principles. Thank you Giulio, I’ve got some black and white presets on the buymeacoffee link ( they are free to download), but these ones are slightly different! Stay tuned, these will go on the site too :)
Nice bw photos. Do you shoot raw and then edit or do you use any recipes? Lately I've been trying moving away from raw, and just using more time on just shooting pictures and doing minimalistic editing. I still havent used my raw on my fujifilm.. just remembering getting so sick of editing when i was a sony user. It was the shooting that pulled me to photography and not the long editing 😅🤪🥳 i was so sick and tired of it that i had almost 1 year break before i got my fujifilm and the jpegs was awesome ! 😍
Thank you Mergim! I am not going to lie, I edit all of my images in Lightroom. Although I agree with you that editing is the most tedious part of shooting process, I like the control and flexibility it gives me. For so long i've been like, I should really try recipes but i've just never got round to it ahaha. One day I promise I will get into recipes ahaha

I've heard of these rules, but I didn't encounter any issues. There were loads of tourists who were out and about shooting with their cameras.
