I will always call it Philippine Houseboy, because It smells like me. It reminds me of home, it reminds me of the younger me. I'm from Bicol, Philippines and it's basically Coconut Milk Capital of the Philippines. I remember my mom teaching me how to cook and every single dish we cook uses Coconut Milk. It doesn't smell like the food to me , but it reminds me of when I was a child playing outdoors midday in the backyard garden full of sampaguita and my cousin calling me because it's time for lunch( and you know because you can smell someone cooking in the kitchen). I don't know if it makes any sense. It smells like your significant other that smells really good but at the same time he/she spend most of his/her time in the kitchen.
I blind bought this for a song and it just arrived today. I can't believe I never saw this video. It is lovely!! It is pretty, but unusual enough to prevent it from being too pretty. I love the juxtaposition between the sweet, creamy elements and the dry leather and oak moss. It's so interesting.
So I am actually from the Philippines and i actually had a cheeky grin when you said what the original name was. I do get what they were going for but at the same time, i get why it’s controversial. I actually blind bought this after watching this video and Delicious Delights’ review. I hate the opening as it smelled like an old flowery perfume but the dry down smelled like a powdered rice with ginger and a leaf called pandan which is a common ingredient to add fragrance in sweet rice cakes and to steamed rice. If you have smelled an authentic fragrant jasmine rice, this is also the closest description i could think of. The powdery nature also reminds me of L’artisan Parfumeur’s Le Chant De Camargue (also has a rice note)which is one of my all-time favourite fragrances. It is more subdued and creamy-rice like than a spicy one. Please give it a try and hope to see it in one of your reviews. Your videos have given me comfort during this lockdown.
Have always appreciated this House. My mom loved many of their offerings, as well. One of her favorites was "The Afternoon of a Faun." I think I bought her four from the line, "Rien" and "Rossy de Palma" amongst them. We had their big sample pack, enjoyed going through them together. This one sounds interesting to me! ... will have to sample. Nice review, as always, Thomas. :)
:) Oh...I recently smelled Faun for the first time..it's a weird beast isn't it? I can't get my head around it. I have to learn it and then maybe do a review. Hope you're OK sweetums! hehe.
I had a dab-on sample of this and LOVED it. Foody in the perfect way, with the rice, coconut, and spices being very present. Recently ordered it online, but for some reason it's basically just Shalimar on me from beginning to end :( Not terrible but not what I've been craving. I'm going to try decanting into a splash bottle and hope it'll behave like the sample did if I dab it rather than spray it on. Love your reviews though!
Wow the background is cool. You can take us traveling around the world now. It also helps to theme up the video with the fragrance. But will miss you chatting on the sofa, just more relaxing and chilling 😄
Hi, great video. I was wondering if you could maybe make a video on the best "Preppy" smelling perfumes. I would really be interested in watching that.
ouch110 Fragrance Reviews yes, rich college kids I suppose, Haha. Like when you pass by an Abercrombie and Fitch store. They pump out there signiture scent, I believe its called Fierce. Anyhow I recently bought a Lacoste perfume called Lacoste por femme and it has a preppy vibe to it. I realized just how much I like those type of scents and am now on the hunt for more 😁

And the drydown is really lovely too! The opening is strange. :)

One of my favorite summer scents! Reads more unisex on me. The rice and lime notes are fantastic.

Hello! Thanks to your review I blindly bought it from notino. Long lasting (4-5 sprays) to at least 6 hours, very comforting scent. Chapeau!

This may be my favorite ELDO. I don't find it too foody.
My favorite ELdO! I smell more of a sweet Thai dessert? This is just soooo good!
Love the background!!!!! Great idea.
