I love learning how much thought goes into naming a fragrance and no brand puts more creativity energy into frag names than L’etat Libre D’orange! Soapy scents are my absolute favorites!
Wow! The best part about the video is getting to understand the story behind the fragrance. I love the idea behind Exit The King! Tragic but beautiful. Vanity isn't forever but we must fall with a great perfume. I love floral scents. I used to be insecure about trying out more rose based fragrances because they are always assumed to be feminine. Then I realized that I like what I like and they make me feel more confident. I'm from Illinois.
I absolutely adore Exit the King. It's 100% unisex and unlike anything else I own. I loved hearing your take on this beautiful creation. Thanks for the great video!
Sebastian, I really enjoy the videos where you interview the creator behind the fragrance. It is nice to hear the goals and intents of the designer in creating this fragrance. The notes in Exit the King intrigue me forming what sounds like a soapy twist to a chypre. This fragrance sounds like a good, wearable scent, much more so than other offerings by Etat Libre D'Orange. Watching form Pennsylvania.
I really like the fact that you had an interview in this video was very informative on how the fragrance came to be. This fragrance sounds good to me because I'm a big fan of earth clean fragrances and would wear this to try a new experience with something that a bit of a soapy form feel to it. New York
I loved yr description of the perfume being one of taking a bath in the forest whilst looking for the foamy soap inside the ground. Exit the King sounds interesting because even if Etienne de Swardt classifies it as a bit more feminine fragrance, its more about being a fragrance for all. Being playful yet clean while ending the reign of a king and making room for the queen. Long live the queen! Great video and zoom interview! Los Angeles, California.
This was such a great video to watch! I really enjoyed the interview with Etienne! It was great to get some back story to why Exit the King is Exit the King! I look forward to trying this fragrance either way, as I am not generally in to soapy fragrances.... However, this one sounds different than most soapy scents, and when I do wear my "soapy" fragrances, I really do enjoy them. Exit the King sounds fantastic and like a real winner of a soapy scent. I would love to add this to my other soapy scents and get more experience with them! Thank you Sebastian, for your thoughts and take on Exit the King, as well as bringing this opportunity to your subscribers! Thank you Etienne, for your generosity and for this awesome opportunity! Sending well wishes and gratitude from Delaware! Good luck all and stay safe friends!
What I liked about the video is that you told us how the fragrance smells in detail and also included a clip with the owner of the brand for background information about the fragrance and its process. I find that the chypre-esque genre really appeals to me in addition to the soapiness and some of the ingredients in it like patchouli, moss, and sandalwood! I would want to wear it because I don't have a fragrances with the combination of being clean and also being chypre/barbarshop. I am from CA, USA! Enjoyed your video!
I really enjoy hearing Etienne speak of his house’s perfume! Such a character. I love the idea behind this one. Designing a scent for the tragedy of demise that uses earthy and soapy accords sounds fitting. From the squeaky clean cradle to the deep earthy grave. Looks like I will be needing this to get my nose on this foamy forester!! Texas here! Thank you, Sebastian!
Great video as always. I love how you meet all of these amazing artists and bring us closer to the scents that we wear everyday. I love wearing a clean fragrance after showering after work in the evening. Even in the dead of winter, I still wear something fresh rather than amber-y, rich fragrances like I would normally do out and about in the cooler weather. Thanks Sebastian! Ohio.
Great interview, enjoyed hearing the inspiration behind it, this house always has interesting backstories. Love earthy scents and my favorites of the house that I’ve sampled have leaned a little feminine so I’m not afraid of that. Michigan
I love this house. Etat Libre D'Orange perfumes have always mirrored me a lot, I love its perfumes! Can't wait to hear this new creation! Thanks for the video
Great video as always. Etienne seems like a really great upbeat guy, so I am quite glad that you included the interview with him. A clean luxury forest sounds honestly pretty blissful right now, and I am in no way put off by floral touches in fragrances. On the contrary. And as far as the reason why I would want to wear it well... during these days most of us are stuck at home without a workplace to go to (or classroom in my case). This can lead to wearing the same set of clothes maybe one or two more days than they should be worn, or that shirt you wore for that one meeting you had a week ago has just been sitting there on the chair. As a result some musky smells can accumulate in the home and you probably can't smell them because you're submerged in them. So I would love to have something clean smelling that I could put on for when you finally have to brave the sun again to go and fetch food or toilet paper. Thanks again for the giveaway. I live in Tennessee, USA.
Yay! I love when reviewers take the time to review ELDO fragrances because it's so rare. They make great fragrances such as I am Trash, Fat Electrician and Remarkable People. Would love to get a whiff of this one. Give it away.... to me.
This sounds like something I would love. Love clean scents and Etat Libre (all recommendations from you btw).. Also would be a wonderful candle. Ettiene is such an interesting guy, and wish I would've known the store is in le Marais, that is one of my favorite areas of Paris. San Juan, PR
It's always interesting to see the person who is standing behind the perfume bottles! ELDO is a very interesting brand with unusual, strange and modern scents. When I first smelled Rien intense incense for me was like a blow from a clear sky, love at first sniff. And The Fat electrician is one of my favourite parfums from this year, even if I don't like vetiver. Regarding Etienne's new creation will hope to try it in the very near future. Thanks for the video!
The interview was very informative, giving good background/back drop to the fragrance, which is always good. The fragrance sounds like something that would waft off skin very well. And the reason I want it is summed up in 2 words - - "Chypre"; "Floral". I like both individually, and the combination sounds nosegasmic. I'm from Maryland (USA).
Absolutely ♡ earthy scents, so, I definitely would rock it! I like the story behind Exit the King (Long Live the Queen). I did'n't know that Rock Hudson met Michael Jackson. Both legends. Excellent interview with Etienne. I liked his thoughts on femininity. Mich USA
You did it again. My scent of the day was You or Someone Like You from this house, and here I am tonight watching a review of a new scent from the same house. Wish to try this one some day.
Enjoyable video! Loved to see the interview with Etienne. Looking forward to smelling this fragrance as I'm a fan of soapy scents. Thanks from Saugerties, NY
The video is great, it's great to share the experience of fragrance maker/creators. The fragrance sounds fantastic with Patchouli note dry down. I got Jovoy psychedelique after watching your review, I must say psychedelique is divine. I would love to get my nose and wear Exit of the king mainly because of the Patchouli floral combinations you mentioned. I reside in Maryland. Thanks for your great 👍 reviews.
I loved the review and u think I would wear it because I like unisex fragrances and to win would be an honor having seen the story behind it just makes it that more special
Loved your chat with Etienne! I'm super curious about soapy fragrance as I don't have anything in my small collection yet in that category. I would love to wear this as I love unisex fragrances, and actually especially ones that lean feminine. Keep up your great work!
The interview with Ettiene was great, I too loved the 80s. I love classic chypres and this sounds like an interesting twist on the chypre genre. I would wear it as I love masculine scents that are feminine and this sounds like it fits that description. I live in US in Oregon.
A great interview Sebastian!! Casual all the way. I'd love to experience that synesthetic experience with the foaminess though. I honestly can't create the olfactory equivalent in my mind. I can imagine creamy and aromatic, but not frothy or foamy. Love the green, foresty and earthy description in your review. Green frags are kind of my thing and I especially enjoy wearing them in the transitional seasons. This one could be right up my alley. MI, USA
I loved this video and the description by Etienne. I don’t know if he thought of shaving in a clean forest, tho. lol. I like the description and it sounds very interesting and a fun fragrance. I would definitely wear this and feel I would like it. I have others from this house, which I love. I like the soapy clean concept. I do t have anything like this. Also, I am in California and would love to be entered to win. Thank you for the great content.
Excellent interview! great to know the back story behind an ELDO perfume. I definitely get the conceptualism behind it, it is the transference from old to the new.. and it sounds pretty nice, a chypre with a very clean, soapy accord! I would love to try it out and see how it is on my skin. I'm in California!
Sebastian, I thought review of Exit the King was really good and I loved your interview as well. I liked learning the backstory on this fragrance from the notes to how they came up with the name. I would love to wear this fragrance because I love Chypre fragrances...especially one like this that has creative modern touches. I would love this clean and soapy vibe that mixes with the traditional green and earthy chypre notes. I would want to wear it because it sounds really unique to me, but I know I would love it based on the type of fragrance it is, the note breakdown, and your review of it. I am from Ohio, USA.
Sounds like a beauty! (1) I Ioved the video and learning how they worked with two perfumers! (2) Exit the King sounds good to me because I love soapy fragrances (and earthy fragrances, plus jasmine is a favorite note). (3) I would want to wear it because I need a nice soapy fragrance for the Spring to be honest. I don't have a nice soapy fragrance. I live in the USA.
I love to WELCOME THE KING 🤴to my fragrance collection. I love Chypre clean laundry fresh scent. Love Oakmoss - thanks for the review Sebastian - Cheers from Reading, PA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
this was a great video, I would wear this fragrance because i love barbershop scents and finally I would match this fragrance with the many shaving soaps that I own
Working in an office environment, clean and soapy fragrances are a staple in my rotation. This one sounds interesting and I would love to add it to my collection. Coming at you from Long Island, NY!
All of your videos are amazing and this one is nothing short of that. I think this fragrance would be great for both myself as well as my partner because we are both fans of woody and clean fragrances. I just started getting into the fragrance community about a couple of weeks ago and prior to that I only had a bottle of polo black and Kenneth Cole vintage black lol. I hope to grow my collection in due time though. I believe the phrase you guys were looking for earlier in the video was “passing the torch.” Keep up the great work by the way, your videos are wonderful!
Enjoyed the interview with Etienne, interesting to hear his perspectives. I also like soapy fragrances and from your description this one sounds great. Would like to try it, LA CA
1. I loved this video, it was a great interview. 2. I really really want to try exit the king because ELDO is my favorite house (rii and Hermann are my signatures). 3. I thrust in your reviews, so I bet this can be my best clean soapy fragrance, and I need one.
Soapy scents aren't my favourite thing but its interesting to learn more about this one as it's new to me and great to have even more information with the interview:) excited for this one 🍀
Exit the King is percieved as more femmine by many and perhaps they're right. Yet, I don't know why (maybe the saldalwoond and florals combo) but I get some string Chanel Egoiste vibes and that is enought for me to consider Exit as masculine, or at least a woody floral musky masculine/unisex scent.
The video was very interesting. It was very cool to get the inside scoop on how this fragrance came about. I think over all this fragrance would be ideal for any situation. I’d love to add this to my collection. I don’t own anything from this niche house and I’d love to get my nose on it. I’m a Georgia girl 🍑
I like the idea of the play between masculine and feminine here, and what seems like the progression from clean to feminine to earthy. I'm a guy and I think I would be happy to wear it for the right place and occasion. Please enter me in the drawing. I am in North Carolina.
The video is good but as you know shorter is also good. My collection needs more soapy fresh scents. I like the idea of a luxury forest. I'm in Virginia, USA. Thank you.
"Nothing is forever. That is the tragedy of life... but you need a good perfume to be dramatic in the meantime!" I love love love this sentence. This is my moto from now on :) I enjoyed the interview so much! Thank you for this great video. It was so great to hear more about the creative direction and the story behind this perfume. I hope I'll go to Paris some time...if I do I'm going to their store...right after the Eiffel tower :). I'd love to enter the giveaway. I'm from Illinois.
Hi, just started to smell this line and so far not disappointed, would not be so bad if I win the giveaway, always love love watching your videos, thanks, from Texas
I loved the video it was very informative learning details and I'd love to wear the woody green scent ) reminding me to fresh air and the accent is sexy since September 26TH is my birthday and the way they say Michele (MEE SHELLL) my state is NewJersey NJ

Hey Sebastian, I didn't know you once were a fan of MJ!? Good to know, Anyway I'd love to try out this new frag.. Fresh and Soapy is always a Plus in my Book. Great Interview though Keep it up!
Probably not a popular opinion but Green Irish Tweed is very soapy to my nose, much in the vein of Irish Spring, albeit a much higher quality scent. Don’t get me wrong it’s nice, just not a favorite. And I was so hoping to love it.
