@@beefbossfromwiisports I play with the pro controller as my main controller. Unless I'm playing a 2d platformer or games that require precise inputs. The dpad on the pro controller is flawed. I suspect that most people don't realize it's the controller that is making them play bad. Edit. Tetris 99 is IMPOSSIBLE with the pro controller since that random up input will slam your brick instead of moving it. Happens at least once every game. The developers added a pro controller mode to try to help people
The Wii Remote was great for Animal Crossing City Folk, so I'd imagine when New Horizon's comes out a lot of people would want to use Joy-Cons to take advantage of the gesture controls and pointer features. Joy-Cons would probably be more appealing for the older generation over a traditional game-pad as well.
Much as I loath the Nintendo tax, I figured out many, many, many years ago that 9 times out of 10, they charge so much simply because all of the competitors are such crap that you really are just better off forking out their high prices than tossing your money away completely on knockoffs that almost never seem to work. There have been a few things over the years that you could skimp on but, most of the time, yeah, you're stuck with either Nintendo's high prices or complete garbage. I swear sometimes that it's almost like they have secret agents in the factory lines of knock off companies sabotaging them somehow or getting their engineers and designers wildly drunk before work or something. lol. But, whatever the reason, yeah, you're usually better off just paying the tax.
True except that you're paying the Nintendo tax for a controler that starts drifting in 2 weeks. So paying half the price for a cheaper pair that drift makes more financial sense.

@@64bitmodels66 To be fair to them, I don't know that there IS a better stick out there that fits the bill. There isn't really any stick that comes to mind that have the same (or even a similar) size as the joycon sticks. The whole reason this is an issue is due to the flawed design of the stick itself, and that isn't really something that can be helped right now. Closest we have to that size is the PS Vita's sticks, and those things are plagued with the same issues, and imo feel worse.
@@DragonEdge10 that's what redesigning controllers is for. If your current system is flawed to the point where your components dont work properly, there is a clear problem with your design. redo the joycons
@@64bitmodels66 Of course. But my main point was that this issue was one that took time to surface and identify as specific to the design, and designing and manufacturing a compatible joystic that fixes this issue while retaining the size and feel probably isn't going to be something that can be fixed easily. While it IS Nintendo's responsibility to fix this (and I would like to see them lower the price of them since you're essentially buying a product that is guaranteed to fail sooner or later), it's not necessarily fair to them to just say that they designed a shitty product and aren't willing to do anything about it. More than likely it's a case of them straight up not yet having any solution that can work. And honestly, other than this flaw, imo the joycons are pretty good, fairly well built. So I don't really think it's for a lack of trying, but rather there just straight up not being a better solution currently, an issue that is shared by basically every first or third party controller/console maker. And hey, look on the bright side, at least this stick isn't soldered onto the board lmao

As someone who collects game controllers, I think some of these joy-cons with their unorthodox and strange designs can have an appeal to people who collect things like that.
Almost none do. To keep costs low they gotta use cheaper plastic and materials that aren’t as comfortable to hold, and use different designs so they don’t get sued by Nintendo by completely the Joy Cons’ likeness.

Well, it's all preference at the end of the day. They're definitely quality but as many people have pointed out, drift is a common flaw. Is that enough to sour you on the entire rest of the product? It's up to you but I don't think so. Granted, my joycons didn't start drifting until over a year and a half (probably somewhere like 150 hours of use) which is about the time it takes for Xbox360 controllers to start having input problems in my experience so I'm less critical than the 2 month people here.
@@kmah324 what does that have to do with my comment? Edit: if only 1 drifts, you'd only have to pay like 30 to get a replacement. Buying a Switch Pro Controller is cheaper than buying a pair of Joy Cons, it's also less likely to break, has a very comfortable grip and holds the charge for a lot longer.
I've only ever bought another set of joycons after years of having my first set because of the infamous "Joycon Drift" Hey if you still have these, you should try wearing out their joysticks and see whether they have drift.
Tip: If you’re playing Captain Toad Treasure Tracker on the Switch, it’s ideal to use a Joy Con, play on handheld/tabletop mode, or Switch Lite. In dock mode, the game has a pointer which moves the touchstones when you use the right Joy Con similar to a Wii Remote. A pro controller is compatible but the pointer is permanently centred to the screen and therefore, it’s harder to aim at the touchstones to move them. Edit: That above statement about the pro controller happens if you have the cheap, wired pro controllers. If you have a much expensive wireless one, the pointer moves around but feels uncomfortable trying to aim at the touchstones while holding the controller with both hands.
I got big slim hands and i love the feel of the joy cons in the controller holder. I prefer it to my Xbox controller (which should be close enough to the pro controller) but i play only „calm“ games like zelda or stardew valley so no button mashing for me...

"You, uh, you don't have to scroll to the end of the video. None of these are good." This is the brutal honesty and commitment to transparency I subscribe for. Also you have a cool voice, which helps.
So there are reasons why people buy them: - They are cheaper of course, if You save 20 or 30 dollars you can buy a game. - There are posibility that on "knock off" we will not find out drifting of Joycon's. - 1,2, Switch isn't a reason to buy original Joy Con, it's literally game for 5 minutes. - You just wanna save money. That's the biggest reason. - Nintendo products and games are expensive, and if you find Joy Con's for more that 5 dollar sale, I think You are lucky. It's all about saving money.
Personally, I favour the Hori SplitPad Pro. Although it doesn’t have wireless connectivity or controller vibration, it is extremely comfortable. Also, people have reported the controllers draining the battery of their console. Although people may have experienced this, I personally have not. I would recommend these controllers very much. They cost between £30-40
to answer your question about why anyone would buy them, here's my answer, my joycon got drift and i don't want to pay $80 for a replacement set of joycon to just get drift again in like a year :)
There are two types of nouns, count and non-count. Whether you wanna say “joycon” or “joycons” in the plural is fine since it’s a relatively new term. Whatever people end up using more is what will stick, but just do you, who cares.
At the begining you mention that there doesn't seem to be a good reason to even go the sorta bootleg joy con route. Which I might agree with most consoles that you could fairly affordably stay within official and third party controllers- but I did end up entertaing the idea of getting amazon knock offs after realizing that I've been playing with a hard drift ridden left joycon for most of my switches lifespan. That blows. That blows hard. It's still playable but often at the cost of kinda muttering to myself that I **could** have done the thing if my joycon wasn't annoying. Or I **would** have won the race in MK8 if it hadnt falsely detected me going left so I just drift the completely wrong direction.
Usually it's because of the notorious Joycon drift. That's why I'm considering getting a set of third party Joycons. And I have two official pairs of Joycon controllers, both have slight drift issues.
Christochat That doesn’t mean it’s unfixable. Send it to Nintendo to repair it or just try to find the fault by taking it apart and have a spare joystick. If you don’t do any of those mentioned and keep complaining and meme posting, you are a coward.
I had to find an extra pair of Joycons recently and the new AND used prices almost made me consider-third-party. I definitely understand why there's a market for these
Some reasons to get off brand joycons - You have multiple people or kids in your home - You save some money - Your using less money to get just the main features you need instead of the camera an other bs - Drifting is a fucking bitch - Some are surprisingly well made
"Is shaving a few bucks off the price really worth the dip in quality?" It's MUCH MORE than "a few bucks". The price of official Nintendo controllers is a fucking war crime in my opinion.
v30v21 “plethora amount” is redundant and doesn’t really make sense. It’s like saying “there are a lot of amount of games”. So apparently you failed English, too
I play Just Dance pretty religiously, and having another set of joycons can be useful when you have a party. That being said, you can just ask your friends to bring their own switches so you can play with their joycons.

Granted, my joycons didn't start drifting until over a year and a half (probably somewhere like 150 hours of use) which is about the time it takes for Xbox360 controllers to start having input problems in my experience so I'm less critical than the 2 month people here.

Edit: if only 1 drifts, you'd only have to pay like 30 to get a replacement. Also, Nintendo will send a replacement for free if you go through their support. Both are reasonable alternatives to spending $70 that I don't hear people mentioning very often.
Buying a Switch Pro Controller is cheaper than buying a pair of Joy Cons, it's also less likely to break, has a very comfortable grip and holds the charge for a lot longer.
I've only ever bought another set of joycons after years of having my first set because of the infamous "Joycon Drift"
Hey if you still have these, you should try wearing out their joysticks and see whether they have drift.

- They are cheaper of course, if You save 20 or 30 dollars you can buy a game.
These reasons make a lot of sense
Personally, I favour the Hori SplitPad Pro. Although it doesn’t have wireless connectivity or controller vibration, it is extremely comfortable. Also, people have reported the controllers draining the battery of their console. Although people may have experienced this, I personally have not. I would recommend these controllers very much. They cost between £30-40
Backup for when the joycons drifts and you have to send them in
"You don't have to scroll to the end of the video. None of these are good." I wasn't going to, I'm here to watch someone review crap.
to answer your question about why anyone would buy them, here's my answer, my joycon got drift and i don't want to pay $80 for a replacement set of joycon to just get drift again in like a year :)
We wouldn’t need knockoff Joy-Con if the originals weren’t awful controllers.
It really bugs me that Nintendo treats "Joy-Con" as a plural noun. That's not how noun work
Aircraft advice fish scissors binoculars jeans help...
watercolor that’s not how *nouns work
Alejandro Chavez I think that was his point he was explaining you wouldnt use nouns like that normally

I’m here because I was told there would be punch and pie.
0:46 Idk maybe it's the controller drift, lock pins wearing down, and many other design flaws.
Usually it's because of the notorious Joycon drift. That's why I'm considering getting a set of third party Joycons.
And I have two official pairs of Joycon controllers, both have slight drift issues.
The knockoff joycons are most likely for when your joy cons inevitably gets drift
Christochat Those knock offfs can drift too!
Yeah but so can buying 1st party joycons
Christochat Any controller is bound to drift. Not just Joy Cons.
Yes, but due to the much more compressed hardware of the joycons they are much more susceptible to drifting and way harder to remedy
Christochat That doesn’t mean it’s unfixable. Send it to Nintendo to repair it or just try to find the fault by taking it apart and have a spare joystick. If you don’t do any of those mentioned and keep complaining and meme posting, you are a coward.
"Who's buying these!?"
People who accidently broke the Nintendo joy cons and don't want to spend another $80 on a new pair
Just waiting for him to slip that he’s a Nintendo plant
I had to find an extra pair of Joycons recently and the new AND used prices almost made me consider-third-party. I definitely understand why there's a market for these
Some reasons to get off brand joycons
- You have multiple people or kids in your home
- You save some money
- Your using less money to get just the main features you need instead of the camera an other bs
- Drifting is a fucking bitch
- Some are surprisingly well made
Waiting for "Soulja Cons".
underrated comment
"Is shaving a few bucks off the price really worth the dip in quality?"
It's MUCH MORE than "a few bucks". The price of official Nintendo controllers is a fucking war crime in my opinion.
And the fact that they drift within a week or sometimes right out of the fucking box.
This dude definitely didn’t fail English class
“There are a plethora amount of games on switch”
Nintendo switch has games.
plethora is like... a 7th grade word, friendo.
v30v21 “plethora amount” is redundant and doesn’t really make sense. It’s like saying “there are a lot of amount of games”. So apparently you failed English, too
@@EspeoniaManga That's fair. Less relevant, but still a knucklehead move on my part.
7:23 I just want to actually see that middle part put on a normal joycon
I play Just Dance pretty religiously, and having another set of joycons can be useful when you have a party. That being said, you can just ask your friends to bring their own switches so you can play with their joycons.
UA-cam our here not wanting to notify me of the greatest joycons ever made
I've already bought 6 pairs of Joy-Cons, so I already hate myself; don't worry (◠‿・)
Hey man don’t worry, I also hate you so it’s okay 🙂
But realistically I did too haha 🤦🏽♂️ neon yellow (Arms edition), neon green and pink (maybe splatoon edition idk) and neon orange and purple... plus the original grey ones.
Lol I have 6 pairs too... I hate myself for wanting to collect more
DANGster6 they know how to market to suckers like us. I feel like I have more controllers than games... but that’s not true.. yet.
Bob, these companies are like Mobs. I wouldn't mess around with 'em
I love the Nyko Dulies, they're meant to be used as single controllers each. When I'm playing multiplayer games (Mario Kart, Streets of Rage 4 etc.) My friends love using these rather then the joycons because it's more ergonomic and they don't get finger cramps
This guy really said Mehrio Party
0/5
Quarantine got me watching this, and i dont even own a Switch.
"What is the purpose of these? The switch already comes with two Joycons attached." "Who is buying these?!"
Joycons that will inevitably die of drift. Not advocating for the knockoffs, but Nintendo ain't so hot themselves right now. These probably get bought by parents whos kid's Joycons have just died and who can't afford to spend $70 on making a console they already bought usable again.
When he said roughly don't use portable mode, get a switch lite, I Down Thumbed this video.
Wulf Denn: you can just get a pro controller
Me: WHAT ABOUT JUST DANCE!!!!!!
A friend bough yesterday one because:
He got non ipatched switch console only from ebay and it seems that now with the epidemic there are no 80$ OEM joycons, they got A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE.
