I played Tommy in this production, and really appreciate the great feedback you are all giving about our film. Principle photography was all done in 48 hours back in 2014, and it took years to come out but so great to see all the amazing comments and love from you all. Cheers, Chris.
Simply amazing acting. The whole production and cinematography were so real and well-defined that I had to watch the video several times to catch all the little nuances popping up on the streets.
Fair dinkum I've watched heaps of dust catalogues. Seeing this a while back, again today. Theyre all pretty good but some hit ya like a classic twilight zone. This is one . Wish it ended with the baseline from the musical score.
You are a fine actor. As one myself you were very authentic with your sense of incredulity over the realisation of what was happening and also the loss of your wife. Such a great short. Do you have a link to other work you have done?
I started a bit later, and got the Jeff Wayne Musical Version at age 10, had me hooked. Been into Sci-Fi ever since, and I'm pushing 60 now. "Thunderchild" (the ironclad that tried to defend the steamer) is wonderful. Haven't seen the new stage show... Yet. They even picked an actor that looked like H.G. (see Wells Wikipedia entry)
The power of S-F is to cause us to consider ideas, even unpleasant ones. They haunt our thoughts when we're alone, often in the dark, when closing our eyes against them is ineffectual. Well done, you. Thank you.
I thought I was hesitant until he started saying them and showing signs of lost hope. Then he spoke of the invaders and the soldier realizes this isn't the war he thought it was. I was fully invested and didn't even know I was trapped. Now I'm mad this story is finished. Bravo!
Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! Much of what Dust has been showing leaves me scratching my head and wondering what I just watched but this was just great!
A good Twilight program was the 1959 "And when the sky was opened". Season 1 episode 11. Watch it it's good. Enough said. ;) By the way, this was good even the ending introducing G.H.Wells last book " Mind at the end of its tether".
That was brilliant, love it! Great tension building with a minimalistic stage AND a visually impressing finale! The mad doctor's my favourite though. :-D
Well done this is absolutely brilliant storytelling and as a War of the Worlds fiend, this ticked all the boxes for me. The final message about H.G Wells was a brilliant cherry on the top. Would love to see another part of this eras battle against the martians and humanity. Top notch sci-fi 👌🏻
@@MrMaxeemum Well that is going to be hit or miss these days. The original Twilight Zone had the blessing of some rising talent before they became famous. Prime example one William Shatner.
A really great short story/vignette. I didn't see the conclusion coming before the reveal which is rare enough to be worth mentioning. The performances are very good as well as the editing and cinematography. Punching well above your grade on all counts.
I thought this story might have been leading somewhere else at first, what with someone else dressing him for "the ceremony", his wife leaving flowers, and the depressed doctor eating meds like they're sweeties while crying about losing contact with his wife.
I love to see sci-fi short film made on low budget.... because you know how can you achieve with very few crew and small creative VFX.... i like it and visual effect quality looks like a episode of Doctor Who in between 2008 - 2010... I like it
Our most destructive weaponry, was of no consequence! But just as we were facing ignominious defeat, three valiant warriors, rose to our defense: the bacterium, the virus and the spirochete!
Thank you, this is more like the way the old Dust used to be... offering presentations like this, that we all love and not like all of the new agey, wokey pokey, stuff lately.
Yes, it's just old-fashioned patronising lecturing that equalizes victims and aggressors, so "deep". Don't speak for all, mate. I find this crap primitive, triggering and obnoxious. Sci-fi shouldn't lecture people
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp Cool sci-fi doesn't equalize victim and aggressor or patronisingly lectures people or goes on primitive detached from reality rants about "futility of war". Sure, you all have no idea of what war is. Anyway, this is not sci-fi, this is some crude hippie BS.
definitely one of the best shorts on dust , well done ; im of the opinion that the majority of content on dust is rather middling , so getting a good one is rather nice =]
Really enjoyed this. A short film for sure, but a fantastic concept, played out well, with a really cool tie-in. I especially appreciated how the film makers made the alien mechs look like more "rudimentary" and "old school" versus how they were portrayed in other WOTW works; taking into account the earlier time period-setting of the film, (and the original) and the possibility that the aliens (just like us) are going to have different levels of technological advancement depending on the time period that is the setting. Great job folks!
Great - well done, great actor performance in the never ending story of a huge Invasion which destroyed the whole mankind! Brilliant little movie - I love it! All the best from "defeated" Germany!
If you ever wake up in this situation, you're very lucky. It means you are finally aware of the fact that you are in a coma, and that you should try and find a way to wake up. I suspect pinching yourself just won't cut it. You'd have to find another way.
He really was a doctor? I thought he was a patient pretending.Boy he sure fooled me! I like these characters and Tommy is cute. Interesting twist of the story.
Good to see someone that understands the spirit of War of the Worlds. While you might have changed the era, you stuck to the elements of the story. I will never forgive Hollywood for that 2005 stinker that shredded the heart out of the story and relied way too much on special effects. At first I was wondering where you were going with this one, but well done on keeping the plot twist until the end. Hollywood could learn a thing or three from screen writers like you

The way the doctor pointed and said "you're conscious!" got me..😆
That's one hell of an adaptation of War of the Worlds. Enjoyed it immensely. 👍
H.G.Wells would be proud
Thanks for the spoiler.

Compelling. Nice extension of HGW's War of the World's.
Great acting. Thanks

Good to hear that I am not the only one that finds most of what Dust shows a bit confusing.
This is one of my FAVORITES!! We need more of these. Lets have us a flashback Friday too lol! I love to GET DUSTED!
Excellent take on War of the Worlds.
A very good vision of the tripods.
I knew I recognized this. I've seen this before, and it just got pushed to recommended. Still a great film.
This was a great tribute to War of the Worlds.
Powerful, gripping, with on heck of a lesson we've yet to learn. God bless us all.
Who else of us old folk pictured an episode of the "Twilight Zone" from the 6o's?
MEEE! I’m not old enough to have been alive when it first aired but I’ve seen dozens of the black and white episodes regardless.
I didn't. But now that you mention it, this one is certainly worthy of our departed Mr Serling; he would no doubt approve.

A simply brilliant adaptation of HG Wells' story. I just loved this!
I can agree with that. Its very well done.
HG Wells lived in a nice little house overlooking the Sea, right near the Castle at Sandgate UK.
Beautiful British twist of war of the worlds that came to fruition in this gem.
Although the original was set in England.
It’s not a twist, the original War Of The Worlds was set in Victorian England!
Wow, that was inventive! Mostly 2 guys talking and I was riveted!
CG has become a crutch for lack of story telling. This was great.
Wow, that was just outstanding! One of the very best I've seen on Dust.
viewer agency, subversion of expectations and a nod to the best sci fi writer of all time? have my upvote. a gem on dust - a rare occasion
