Great refresher course. Only thing I do is start from the furthest water fixture and work back towards the pump. My wife and I can do our trailer in less than 30 minutes. Thanks for sharing
Looks good. We have an 2007 Class C. After draining the fresh water and hot water, I disconnect the pump and attach a short hose to the inlet. Run the pump and turn on each tap and toilet til pink comes out. I like your idea of dumping the antifreeze into one pail. I switch jugs but your way would be better. I'm in Winnipeg so have already done my winterization. One idea I suggest is mouse traps and mouse stickies, had three dead mice last winter, before Christmas.
Great job Todd. Also, If you have a Nautilus system, check out the instructions in the owners manual. Pretty straight fwd & a bit over... (They have you drain it, blow it, then siphon antifreeze to it) But sure won't have any frozen pipes!!
I have one of the 'new' bypass valves on the shower (dumps back to the FW tank). Do I need to do anything special here? I really don't want to run pink stuff back into the FW tank. I would also add that most trailers that don't have the wet bay do already have the winterizing hose at the pump already - you don't really need to install one - my last 3 campers have had the hoses plumbed in from the factory. Easy Peasy.
Or live in Phoenix. We will get below freezing but most of the tome it's for about 2 hours. I we know it going to be below freezing more than a couple days, we let our home spigots just drip at night. We also cover our expose pipes at the spigot cover them with a towel.
The company that services our park charges $90 ( Canadian funds) for winterizing and $150 for "closing" rv. Its worth it I say as it is a huge, two person job. If you can afford it, get someone to do it.
If you use the faucets to mix cold water into the water heater tank then now you have water back into your gray tank. We just turn off our water heater and let it sit overnight and then empty the water out of the water heater.
First time owner so first time winterizing an RV. After bypassing and draining water heater, can I just dump pink stuff in holding tank and pump through all water lines and fixtures?
I am doing something wrong. 1 shower, 1 toilet back of camper 2 outside water connections back of camper and 2 sinks kitchen & bathroom. 6 gallons of pink juice seems excessive amount. Any suggestions what I am doing wrong will be appreciated.
All about the amount of "miles" of plumbing in your RV. I've got an older diesel pusher, and I use about 7-8 gallons. But I've got long runs in my gray water drains, so I'm a little heavy-handed with pouring it down the sinks and tub drains. ($14 of prevention is better than $100s in repairs, in my opinion).
@@gardnetbush9768 Another thing you could do would be to get a small electric pump from Harbor Freight and just pump the pink stuff in, basically mimicking a city water hookup. That's what I do as a bypass during winterization because my water pump is in the back of my basement, and I'd have to pull a lot of stuff out just to get to it.
@@gardnetbush9768 Newbie here... OK, if blowing it out with air - Where is that black tank air going? Seems like blowing out my 35 G black tank could be messy?
@lindawinters7446 in the black tank it's about a cup of water the black tank is so big that lil water will never freeze and split the black tank or simply dump the black tank
Question about the pink stuff -- I've seen some very heated debates about the use of ethanol or propylene glycol RV base anti-freeze? What is the expert's take? Is there really a difference to be concerned about, or is all pink stuff the same?
Great video! Just what I needed for my 43' Tiffin 😊
Great video - very informative! Can you cover winterizing tankless water heaters for those of us so blessed? Please and thank you!
Great refresher. Thanks Tod.

You can also pickup RV antifreeze at a marine supply store such as, West Marine. Fairly good pricing.

Don't forget the ShowerMiser when running the shower hot water valve, after a few seconds to fill the return line, then run the shower head.
I have a 26 ft Class C motor home. Please, how much antifreeze do I use

Best way to winterize your RV? ..
Go somewhere warm, stay till spring! Done.

Do I need to take action on washer prep lines? No washer in unit. TIA

Because my water tank is a pain to get to after completing winterization with pink stuff. Can I turn the valves back for summer use?

Don't forget the ice maker.

It all depends on the size of RV. 6 gallons for a big RV. 2 gallons for a smaller RV. Mine, for example, only takes about 3/4 of a gallon.

What are your recommendations for winterizing the black tank flush?
You will have to blow it out with air

@Legendsingray yeah I do both

Make sure it says RV ANTIFREEZE. It’s as simple as that.
👍👍👍👍👍
Why not just put food grade antifreeze in your fresh tank and pump it through your plumbing until all faucets run pink?
If your water pump isn't working, this is a no go.
Sorry but sounds like a pain in *** how much to have a company do it.
