This guy is so confident in his ability that he's about to crash and burn. You remember learning to ride a bike and when you figured that there wasn't a hell of a lot left to learn, just in time to run head-on into a building or a side of a car. Yep, hope he came out of it OK.
Did you ever have a log spring up and hit you in the chops, like if you hit a knot? is pretty amazing and so simple, but it does look a tad dangerous. Maybe a good idea to put a piece of pipe where the V groove is so the wood can't spring up or wedge down between the wheel and the frame. That will slow the operation down a bit but would be so much safer.
I like watching you split those knotted pieces. What do you call your splitter? Wheel of death? Wheel of misfortune? I call mine Frankinsplitter. You can find it by typing baler splitter wedge design.
+Borge M: Your 2:07 vid is entertaining to be sure. But like offering a single salted peanut it becomes a teaser!! Technical details? Engine?? Otherwise nice going.
I own a campground and split about 8 chord a year to sell and burn at home, great old machine for its time with already seasoned wood. Try some green cotton wood or other stringy wood. Hopefully no injuries occur in front of the crowd.
Torque too, see the small diameter, fast moving drive gear as opposed to the large splitting gear, if there was too little torque the thing would just stall all the time.
people used to have 12 kids and only 4 would make it to adulthood. Now it makes sense.
nice but these are all soft wood !!!!!!!!!
mmm I agree, southern hemisphere hard wood v's that marshmallow pasta would cripple that contraption
Just needs a e-stop and ready for market. ⛑️
Soon to be headed to the emergency room. What a piece of shit to split wood.

I see a finger buster, if used correctly that's a fine machine for splitting wood.
I can see a possible broken jaw happening while splitting a twisted piece with multi crotches.Wrist injuries arm injuries.
How many teeth do people lose using that machine?
1/3 the number of fingers lost per cord split :)
take heavy drugs and use this machine
Operator better learn more about how wood splits, or will lose some teeth or worse.
Enjoyed seeing the old splitter work.
(:- O) Spinning wheel of broken arms and sudden finger death..great video..thanks
Try hickory or oak !!
Any ninny can split soft wood!
Respect what the guy is doing and it's pretty cool to see.. surprised at the very least of the gut isn't have any type of eye protection.
And with a "hit and miss" motor!

A cool apparatus but I'd use my noggin to build some type of safety shield.

wtf ,that's a scary machine
What a sissy- he's wearing gloves and boots. At least he's risking his eyes and face for us. Hey- this could be a new tik tok challenge!
Widow Maker! An auto feeder / auto stacker design coming soon? ( will stick with the old tire method myself) Thanks for the post.
@ 01:17 he comes close to getting injured, at least put some safety glasses on bud.
throw some PEN oak or Hickory in there see what happens
когда по зубам прилетит он так лыбиться не будет

Great design -splitting the logs across the ends! Far less chance of getting the splitter stuck inside the log.
try that on some hickory or white oak. that stringy shit wouldn't split that easy
Pa,...Johnny is out playin in the wood chipper again !
Wonderfully dangerous I love it.
sissy wood, LOL, try that on REAL slabs
OSHA approved👍 Hows it work on a 24 inch piece of oak?
that is a death trap dismemberment anytime. lol
Nice beat that motor is producing
That lad is having way too much fun
Do you have plans to build one of these?
That knotty piece was a bit nerve wrecking...
Wouter d.B. yea really. i needed a wipe after watching that
Sounds like the choke is still on...
very good machine
I'm not scared.
Try that with white oak
No eye protection? lol
That was awesome

Oh wondrous wheel of eternal spins, grant that my wood to split!
What could possibly go wrong? One two better not sue!
Should have an ambulance on nearby standby.🚑
Those notches on the wheel of wonders are for former would be wood splitters.
They now sing in the Sunday choir, Soprano, if you wore a knights suit of armor you would probably be alright, but watch out for lightning storms.⚡️
Genius. But why tf so big??
Kinetic energy.
I just realized something else, the larger diameter gives you more time between strikes to get the log in position. That would help a lot.
