Whenever I watch your videos I just feel bad about the fish I got as a little kid from Walmart (when they carried fish idk if they still do) and it just makes me feel so bad because my parents didn't know shit about taking care of fish so they all died so fast 😭
Yeah you like- learn it in 10th grade in our country its called Osmoregulation where freshwater fish actively takes ions through their gills and saltwater fishes excretes ions
Great! Finally a fish keeper talking about it!!! You don't know how many times my fishes died because we didn't know about these things when I was growing up. Took us many attempts to know what was wrong.
Well personally I always use fresh rain water that i kept it in a big gallon. I live in Indonesia and in here we have two season only (dry & rain season), and it's better to collect water on a rain season because usually when it's raining on a dry season, the water taste is a little salty and the color look a bit gray because the pollution. Until now my gold fish still look good and healthy for almost a year👍
I remember when i was five i always dropped sugar in our fishtank because freshwater in austria is called süßwasser wich translated to english is sweetwater
I’m a bass fisherman and use 2 products you might want to check out one is called g-juice and the other is rejuvenate they help with the o2 content in the water and help with many other things
Quick little story: My sister and I won two goldfish at a pumpkin patch. We bought them a 2 gallon tank because we didn’t have money and there was only the two of them so they would keep each other company. After a few months I noticed that my goldfish was actually pregnant so I began quarantining her so she could lay her eggs and once they hatched I would give the babies away to Petco. I was really excited because I our goldfish somehow successfully mated despite the odds and it meant that they were happy and in a somewhat good living condition. Then one day my sister bought some _sea_ shells from a pet store. Both of our goldfish died after she put them in the 2 gallon tank because the seasalt was still on the seashells. I was infuriated and to make matters worse, she flushed both of them down the toilet and didn’t even bother giving the two of them a proper burial.
I add salt for the purposes stated but I'm pretty sure the instructions on the packet will say don't add it near to the fish. If anything, dissolve it in water first then add that slowly near the pump to ensure it's mixed in well.
i watched down the core a few times and they said everything is made up of salt, and that if we all had no salt, we'd all die. it makes perfectly sense for all bodies of water to have salt!
Explaination to those who do not understand enough; Yes, the fish is not dead because seawater has around 3.5% of salt. This dude water only contains 0.09% of salt, when he said 1 tbsp in 5 gallon
Hey Luke, I used Himalayan salt for my axolotl tank. Dude that shit kills bacteria and I did a 2 teaspoon ration based off gallons of water. Idk about other salt but I’m sticking with my pink lol.
Bodies need salt. I remember a doctors appointment where I was litterally passing out from dehydration dispite drinking bottle and bottles of water a day. Well I wasnt eating enough salt to help my body retain that water.
I kinda forget people dont know these things, i have 2 freshwater tanks and a saltwater tank as of now so i kinda forget how inexperienced i was when i started this hobby
I think that's the recommended method but since his quarantine tub is literally a pond, I guess the concentration won't fluctuate as much as a 10 gallon tank
I thought the same thing cuz we have bettas at petco and I thought they were freshwater fish but they have us put a pinch of salt in the five gallon bucket along with conditioner for water changes
If you have goldfish also be aware that some farms in Thailand and China are essentially brackish water. It's for disease prevention I believe. But in general if you want to keep say 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons at all times, I suggest buying the larger 10 pound buckets of salt you can get off Amazon. Usually they are marketed for pond, but overall it is still cheaper than say buying Kosher salt from a grocery store at that volume. API definitely buy their pond salt, it's 1/4 the cost than their aquarium salt, and as you would think, it's the same salt...

Sounds like a promo for salt
I know this isn’t on topic but my favorite thing about your goldfish are that they are so chunky
Thanks for the short
Thanks for watching!
Yes its amazing! My fish live up when I add it to there tanks after water changes!

Homie add salts to the pond as if he was making a soup
He's obviously seasoning the fish
Not normal kitchen salt however...I mean...Yeah you can have a salty dish but yeah theres a salt for aquariums
I love your videos
i almost thought the goldfish turned into sea goldfish
Convinced this guy know how to cure Goldfish Cancer with how many things he knows prevents disease for fish.
That's true I also use fish salt and methylene blue for every new or sick fish
Also use salt to season your fish well
Fish : why did this water get more salty
mans has a 100 gallon fish tank in the clip of him adding a lot. good god.

they like the flavor. sometimes the water is too bland for them
That's like asking why you would give someone salt on their chips if copious amounts of salt would kill us
Depends on the fish and plants, and he's NOT using table salts (iodized salt) as it will kills all your fish.
My dad has koi pond yes he also put methylene blue and salt, but its NOT table salt for you guys who wondering..
They are such social butterflies ☺️☺️
I like that you got them in a spinning motion

Yeah but you can also just use that water purifier thing that removes chlorine because that also adds salt.
I am getting vietnam flashbacks
Luke always has a reason. Don’t question him.
I add salt for the purposes stated but I'm pretty sure the instructions on the packet will say don't add it near to the fish. If anything, dissolve it in water first then add that slowly near the pump to ensure it's mixed in well.
“Its at a much lower concentration” continues to add a whole bag to the tank 😂
Man explained a part of homeostasis like it’s nothing 😳
i watched down the core a few times and they said everything is made up of salt, and that if we all had no salt, we'd all die. it makes perfectly sense for all bodies of water to have salt!
It's at a lower concentration, proceeds to put fifty scoops of salt in the water.
I'm glad to see you have a big rank for them gold fish.
Fresh water aquarium salt has saved my goldfish numerous times, thanks for making this clear, iv had alot of arguments on this topic lol
I'm glad my sick goldfish saved by the salt🤭
I saw that one of the new fish was white with an orange head. I think snow man could be a name for that fishie!
If you got sick fish, the last ditch attempt to help them is with a salt bath.
Explaination to those who do not understand enough; Yes, the fish is not dead because seawater has around 3.5% of salt. This dude water only contains 0.09% of salt, when he said 1 tbsp in 5 gallon

Salt is one heck of a drug.
It help fish a lot with their healthy prevent from manny deceased trust me add just a little salt everytime u changes water or treatment..
I also add salt to goldfish and koi about a handful or two and they rarely get sick
Bodies need salt. I remember a doctors appointment where I was litterally passing out from dehydration dispite drinking bottle and bottles of water a day. Well I wasnt eating enough salt to help my body retain that water.
Pov: your local goldfish connoisseur
It also enhances the flavor!!!
Bro said fresh water systems contain a less salt concentration compared to Salt water systems, "proceeds to add 12 spoons of salt
Him vs how I treat my fish me : puts a tissue to wipe her mouth
I kinda forget people dont know these things, i have 2 freshwater tanks and a saltwater tank as of now so i kinda forget how inexperienced i was when i started this hobby
"at a small concentration" *proceeds to add a gallon of salt in the water tank*
Distribute gallon to tablespoons
Cause he said the amount of salt he puts into the tank is kind of a small concentration.
THAT'S ENOUGH SLICES
It seems that Goldfish easily adapt to waters containing salt
Fishies: Good Soup
Yeah he’s correct, there’s less salt in freshwater. So I guess it’s not really “fresh” when you think about it since there is still salt in the water.
It's makin me want to make ma own goldfish tank in future
I always added salt to my fresh water tanks. The fish would swim to it like it was crack
Yes we add salt too for our 100 gallon tank!
I'm waiting for the comments but "that's so much salt" not realizing that's atleast a 100 gallon tub
love your reels! but I thought the salt needed to be dissolved in a separate container before adding it into the tank with the fish
I think that's the recommended method but since his quarantine tub is literally a pond, I guess the concentration won't fluctuate as much as a 10 gallon tank
It’s kind of like rain for us but for goldfish!
Every time i look at ur gold fish he looks like hes alergies had been acting up
"its at a much lower consentrasion" *continues to ad a whole bag of salt*
I thought the same thing cuz we have bettas at petco and I thought they were freshwater fish but they have us put a pinch of salt in the five gallon bucket along with conditioner for water changes
"it's just at a lower concentration" proceeds to dump fifty spoonfuls into the tank
If the tank can fill up 250 gallons of water then yeah. It's at a low concentration of salt if the amount of water is like that to the salt.
because it depends on how many gallons of water are in the tank.
I mean it make sense also rain go from water to land and that goes to fresh water then sun evaporate it and rinse and repeat
They need their god dang minerals
