THE 70'S WERE THE MOST "FUN" IN MY LIFE! WE WERE YOUNG, BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, VIBRANT, EXCITED, CAREFREE...AND DANCED OUR ASS OFF!!! OUR MUSIC WAS SO UNIQUE, LIVELY AND GREAT!!! LOVE WATCHING YOUNG PEOPLE DISCOVER IT.
In the late 70's my babysitter used to invite her friends over and get high and play the Bee Gees all the time. She would let me stay up an hour later if I didn't rat her out. I never told my parents a thing. What a memory.
The Bee Gees wrote 8 songs in 1 weekend for the Saturday night fever album , 3 consecutive #1 hits 4 were top 10's , one of the best selling albums of all time. And that sweet city woman , she moves through the light controlling my mind and my soul
There is a video of the Bee Gees from the 60's where Barry looks just likeAndy. Can't remember what song it was. Seriously twins that are 12 years apart in age.
What can you say? It's the Bee Gees. You have to do "You Should Be Dancing". They are joined by little brother Andy and the video features John Travolta's solo dance scene. He prepared for that scene for 10 months and he just kills it. I couldn't dance like that if I practiced for 10 years.
When I was a kid back in the 70s my mom and my aunt would move the furniture and have dance parties for my cousins and me and my siblings!! THere were 8 of us kids! Great memories!!
Barry Gibb, the oldest brother, was in his early 30's during this period (mid 70's). The Bee Gees had been around for 10 years or so when this song came out. Before their disco period they had had at least a dozen non-disco hits. They were so much more than disco! Incredibly talented with a career spanning nearly 40 years. In addition to their own singing, they wrote more than 100 songs that were hits for other people. Their musical catalogue is second to none.
Yep. They had Spicks and Specks, How Do You Mend a Broken Heart, New York Mining Disaster, Massachusetts long before the age of disco, but I suspect you have to be Australian to know that.
🔴🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s. 🟥🟧🟨🟩🟦🟪
Long live DISCO! To the “disco sucks” people: You’re just jealous because you couldn’t dance. Pegasus, The Bee Gees are great, but light as far as Disco as a genre. That’s it; I’m going to listen to my family and start my Disco-Club-House-R and B Education channel 🪩🔥
I don’t know what you mean by “disco light” but we all know that the BeeGees were the primary driving force that helped usher in the disco era and provided jobs and opportunities for tons of talented artists that were being neglected and bypassed over in the music industry..
The video took place in Sunny Isles, Miami Beach. You can see the Rascal House restaurant right on Sunny Isles Boulevard. They used to call this area Motel Row. The Bee Gees lived on Miami Beach for many years. Barry is living on Key Biscayne, Miami. That is my neighborhood. Great song.
Thay had hit songs before disco. But they really were great at writing and singing these disco songs. Everyone I knew hated disco back then, but now I can appreciate it.
Bee Gees started in 1958 when they were children. They have hundreds of songs. They were asked to write music for some obscure movie about a guy that liked to dance and had a turbulent life and they wrote all the songs in no time somewhere in the country and never thought the movie would become a hit. Yes, this was pretty much the poplar birth of disco even though disco was already out there but had not exploded.
I think the Bee Gees' music made the move a hit. I was way too young to see the movie when it was in the theaters, but the music was all over the radio. When I finally got to see the movie as an adult I was really disappointed. The music and the dancing were great, but the story...not so much.
Its the 70s..everything is disco at the end of the decade. After hearing this again I wanna break out The Hustle and dance! Barry is still with us. The leader and oldest. Best to him and thanks for the tunes of my entire life.
Looking back disco was short lived, but the Bee Gee's were around way before this came out. I witnessed the begining and the end of disco, and these brothers were at the forefront.
Yes middle school, skating rinks. And a club for teens😮it was called Juniors. We could dance and hang with friends in a good place. 1977, 1978. So much fun😅😊❤
The Bee Gees wrote many of the songs for the great Saturday Night Fever soundtrack including If I Can't Have You by Yvonne Elliman and More than a Woman by Tavares👌🎶
Yes this was from their disco period but it was not the only period! They had been performing since they were 9 and 7. They performed clubs with dad Hugh as a drummer and WW 2 era band director, The Gibbs moved to Australia because of employment shortages, Got on a tv show called Australian Bandstand. Moved back to England in 1966-67 Met Robert Stigwood who was working for Brian Epstein manager of The Beatles, and he became their manager. And they rest is history ❤
Some of their biggest hits were from the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever (Night Fever, Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, More Than A Woman and Jive Talkin’).
When I was in High School, my favorite t-shirt said "Disco Sucks". ;) I do enjoy listening to them, so much talent. IMO their best song is "Nights on Broadway" Love the channel ✌
The Bee Gees were around before the disco era! You should check out some of their 1960’s ,early to mid 1970’s,90’s and early 2000’s. The last album was 2001 two years before Maurice died. Some of the best song writers ever! I’m sure that others will give you some song recommendations! Barry is the only singing brother alive.
Agreed. I fell in love with them back in the 60’s Always loved Robin’s voice. Kinda stopped listening during disco I was just into something else. Never really reconnected until recently and can’t believe the beautiful music they put out in the 1990’s and later. It’s like I discovered a new band. I listen to them everyday. Primarily songs where Robin sings lead or has a solo during the song. When he does his solo in Alone it’s just mesmerizing.
@@donnamyden1348 Since Barry's always been their frontman & main lead, there's not many songs with Robin on lead. Which is okay with me, since Barry's the sound of the Bee Gees!🎶
I remember these times - they were so much fun! If you haven’t seen the HBO documentary about the BeeGees, please try to watch it. I think that it’s called “How Do You Mend a Broken Heart?”, with Barry Gibb & the musicians from their band. And HOW they created that sound. Disco was a period in time. It came out right after the hippie era was over. I enjoyed it for about a year and then I was over it because I was a singer of the blues and I loved the guitar players and disco didn’t have that. The Bee Gees did the music for a movie named “Saturday Night Fever” with John Travolta. Watch it and then you will understand The Bee Gees and all of their disco music. Yes, BP this is definitely disco music.

Not just their own songs, but they wrote songs for EVERYONE. They were writing music back when they were teens! They have HUNDREDS of songs!!

Nights on Broadway is an amazing song! FYI, The Bee Gees have had hits since the 1950s
And as good the songs from their disco era or later are - I really love the early ones.
