That feeder for Bora must’ve been on the Chesterfield before the Vuelta thinking man I don’t want to be called a knucklehead on the butterfly effect
That guy was super today in the feed zone. His focused was spot on. 👀🦋👊💪
😂😂😂
Ya gotta like Primos he a class act. 👍🏼🚵🏻💯🇸🇮
Sepp kuss disagrees
Other then a few issues like last years Vuelta and PN and few years back, I got to agree with you that he is easy to like. Especially if he could give better interviews like today’s. 😜🦋👊
@@Mybrother53 Last year's Vuelta stuff was aimed at Vingegaard. Sepp was just collateral damage.
Benedict Roglic is a class rider but not a class act as last year’s Vuelta showed. Rooting for literally anybody but him to win. Fortunately it’s early in the race and there’s still plenty of time for his back or his famous bike handling skills to intervene 😂
@@Mybrother53 why would you say that?
Chris is the only UA-camr that i watch at 0.8-0.9 speed. He speaks like he rode, always fast!!
Always look forward to Chris' coverage of La Vuelta. Former winner dropping facts .. what could be better.
👊🦋
Patrick made a dangerous move I agree, but honestly, it looks soooo BADASS hahahahaha
thanks Chris and Garrett, best coverage on the sport
Yes it did. Go back and watch Demi put her rain jacket on during stage 8. That was also impressive. She just slipped her arm thru while passing by her staff and somehow the second arm had no issues either. 😂💪🦋👊
Those guys are brutes making that climb in that heat.
👊🔥🦋
Chris, It's not diesel mode, it's "Almeidada" mode!!
João Almeida Rules!!
Wow that feeder stuff is next level 👍👍 everyone involved, including Chris for pointing it out
That feeder dude was top notch. 👊🦋
Best summary of all utubes I've watched...it's like watching the stage all over again 😅😅😅
Thanks Chris for the review and in particular illuminating small points like the two handed bottle grab.
I was amused when you said in wrapping up; "tomorrow should be a sprinters stage, after that it should get interesting'. I felt sympathy for those who work hard at being a great sprinter.
That two handed bottle grab should be banned by the UCI as it is at least as dangerous as the "puppy grip" on handlebars or sitting on the top tube while descending.
Lovely stuff... Hope Primoz gets better as the tour goes on!
Van Eetvelt looks like a big future awaits!
I hope they are slipping a new gyroscope into the back of Primo's jersey every time he takes a bottle. So far so good!
🤣😅😂 underrated comment
🤞🦋👍
Feeder technique, insights you only get here, thanks 👍
Just brilliant coverage, and analysis as well.
Great show.
Soler keeps improving.
Mr. Horner again in red at vuelta❤
Fun to watch the "Other GC" riders (minus Primos) fight it out! Good Stuff Chris!
Agreed 👊🦋
Looks like it will be Primož's race to win (or lose). I can see Sepp rising up the leaderboard to a podium spot as the race progresses through the mountain stages.
Great summary. Roglic looking strong early in the Vuelta. Looks like Almeida and maybe Landa can give him some competition I hope. Im thinking Sepp Kuss doesn’t have the form he had last year. Hopefully he rounds into form as the race goes on.
I think Primoz has better form than last year
🤞🦋👊
They gifted win to Kuss last year
Only team orders kept Kuss in red jersey last year Jonas and Roglic were stronger
Sepp Kuss was gifted the jersey last year in one of the most embarrassing GC ever. A top form Kuss barely makes top 10 in this year weak edition
Ricatello 🤠
Nice ride 👊🦋
Dude weighs just a buck 20! Crikey. Riding in wind has to be tough. Great ride.
Great analysis as usual but one thing you talked about in your analysis that made me think was Roglič's teammates, Almeida's teammates working for their team leaders and then I see Visma riders nowhere to be seen around Sepp Kuss, in fact I was thinking why couldn't Wout pull Kuss to the final steep section? I think Uijdtebrooks have been somewhere not to far away going into the turn into the steep section, but not working with Sepp and the amount of distance Kuss was behind going into that small narrow road first him dearly. Even without teammates around why didn't he try and latch onto Almeida or Van Eetvelt who were being moved to the front by domestiques? This was a massive mistake.
The other thing that I have found very striking from watching the coverage on Eurosport is Nathan van Hooydonck and his lack of any kind of good words for Sepp Kuss. I get that now best friend is Jonas Vingegaard but I expected more respect and at least some appreciation for a fellow teammate who buried himself so that his best friend could win two consecutive Grand Tours and I don't see anything but "he got lucky" and "he'll not win another Grand Tour", I find this strange, but I think if he has this attitude i think the others on the team aren't interested in working hard for him, which i find awful (and I'm not even a fan of Visma). Where were Kruisjswuijk, Gesink, and especially Valter? I've seen them so jobs for Jonas and Rog (when he was on the tram) in the mountains. I just find this all very odd, a little though the motions so that Kuss will never be given the leaders role again, and they are really only working for Wout to try and win the green jersey whilst leaving Sepp dangling in the wind.
Ouch. Those are rough words from Nathan. Gesink was at the front for bit but both Cian and Sepp were not at that moment. The other Visma riders disappeared. When was the last time we didn’t see a Visma rider at the front or at least near it. Yikes 😬 😱🦋
Actually even Uae was very bad working for the leader. Perhaps because they didnt yet know Who the leader was. Almeida except for the positioning before the turn had zero help up the mountain. He did is usual job and recovered on everyone and dropped everyone on the way. Kuss couldnt follow him for instance or yates
If you think honestly, Kuss was not the strongest rider last year. He got lucky with the 4min break away. That is just an objective fact
Visma is off the juice they cannot win big anymore
@@mariusmanoiu2228 This may be true, but they could and should at least be a bit more professional which would keep Sepp Kuss in the hunt and I'm just shocked they're nowhere to be seen. I would compare them to Ineos, they seem to be able to fully support a leader I think is top 5 at best and probably realistically top 10 only.
Outstanding performance.
👊🦋
@@ChrisHornerCycling During a finish like this, when you are coming out of the guy’s wheel right at the finish and you feel like you can take the race, you can really crank out a few more watts during those last moments. So much fun to win that way.
“3rd number 1” is a funny way to say 3rd lol.
third best GC rider*
At least he is ranked ahead of Remco Evenepoel
@@chinpinhon kind of think Remco has earned that 3rd spot.
@@J-cz7yv Nah
@@J-cz7yv if we're only talking GC, you still gotta take Roglic and hope he keeps it upright. One day and TT's, obviously Remco has earned his stripes.
There's a real technique to feeding. It's amazing how many amateurs are used for pros at feed zones. It's a skill and it's absolutely necessary to know how to do this. Excellent job by UEA trying to break Bora and Primoz. Too bad it didn't work, but good effort! Primoz finally showing some form and what do you know, NO CRASH! Still got many days to go though, LOL. :) Too bad Sepp's not on form. And also too bad that Van Aert wasn't really working for Sepp. He tried for sprint points, and then got dropped.... hmmm.... :( Double bummer for Visma! Great performance by young American Riccitello!!!
Not fair to Wout. This climb was nasty-short and megasteep. Even a fully fit, 100% in form Wout would not do well here. You can only do so much when you are 1.90 and 80 kilos.
Riccitello put in a show. 👊🦋🔥
I suspect Sepp's form is going to improve by the 2nd half of the race. It went back and forth, but Kuss was clearly stronger than Roglic in some of the stages last year. Roglic is already peaking because he was a had already prepared to peak for the TDF.
@@gregmuon are u R?
@@tonyg3091 It's true. Sometimes I forget what he was like at the Tour last year and this is a different race, different terrain, different year!! I love Wout and I'm glad he's coming back at all!
Love your analysis Chris, I always look forward to your videos!
Thx, Chris-we always need your breakdown of these "dances"-

A lot of these riders look young, but Riccitello seriously looks like 15 years old. Great kid, though, good interviews.
Finally I saw a good bike throw between Roglic and Van Eetvelt.. thanks ser👌
It’s going to be difficult to take the red jersey away from Roglic. 👊🦋
👊🦋
A little disappointed that you didn't point out what a knucklehead Van Eetvelt was! 😂
Thanks for the exciting analysis Chris!
man. the vuelta is unique. can’t say I hate it, can’t say I love it. It really identifies a special athlete what for all the steep steep ascents
I do like the Vuelta
I like how the teams are never completely dominating. One rider might be but never the whole team. Except last year. 😂🦋👊
Love the Vuelta 🎉
rampas inhumanas
What were you saying yesterday @ChrisHornerCycling? DSM🎉
The feeder part is 💯 from you and him ,👍
Well spotted Chris, but I spotted it too and it is a highly dangerous move and should/will be banned by the UCI for the same reasons as the "puppy grip" on handlebars and sitting on downtube while descending. Common sense really - but in the USA it is apparently "badass".
Sivakov doing a Soler'ism helping Kuss at 12:58
Exactly what was pavol doing??I think vlb and uae are joining hands to beat rbh 😂😂
Excellent analysis as always. Even though I’d watched the highlights this podcast helps the viewer to understand the tactics and who really performed well or not.
Nice call Chris. Good to see Soler working hard. He was gong back to the cars a lot today. That was a lot of bottles.
I strongly disapprove of and disagree with this UAE tactics. My man Marc Soler's abilities are being wasted. He should get support from his teammates, given a free rein and told to attack at will, whenever wherever. 😁
I bet. 👊🦋
Damn, is this the first ever butterfly effect that had no knuckle heads?
Ha, I was wondering the same thing...solid racing and tactics by all.. that no hands guy grabbing bottles could have been the king knucklehead but he got lucky.
Nope, 3rd or 4th by my count.
Nah, home frying pan 😆 Regarding that feeder, I appreciate when excellence is pointed out. An untrained eye just can't see that kind of stuff.

Roglic..!!
Ups and downs for us sitting on the Chesterfield - LOL
Roglic wins! He made it looks easy, only started sweating during spin down 😂
Roglic ain't got time to sweat. 🛋️🦋

Well done Primoz 👏👏 Show Visma what a bunch of knuckle heads they are.

Hehehe. I will remember that one. 😂 👊🦋
I dont't think Kuss has any chance of winning but since he typically gets better as the days roll by in a three week tour and there still are lots of big steep mountains to come he could end up with a podium as its possible he will make up minutes over others above him.
Please go easy on the boy this year!

Props to Landa for coming back to the lead group, I thought he was a goner.
You know what was real nice? Watching Primoz not work for a pretender teammate in the red jersey.
Huh? WVA was wearing red and played no part in the climb

How is it riding on that steep concrete with ripples for traction? They use that stuff in Spain quite a bit like today 20% looked scary.
It's brutal..
That section must be an off road section they use to make the climb harder. The sharp left to enter it and the turn back to good tarmac indicates that there must be an easier softer road all the way to the top
Isaac Del Toro not too bad today!
Chris tell us more about how to feed properly what to do and not to do many people don’t understand us at all. I’m 75 and I’m an ex pro domestic racer, but that was a long time ago when people did stupid things like eating meat and not drinking anything, it was crazy back then. Really stupid actually people don’t really know exactly what you mean by proper eating prior to the race the day before what to eat overnight what to eat in the morning how to feed yourself during the day it’s all crucial actually I think it’s even more than you. I found that I had tremendous energy as a domestic leading out pack and leading out sprints, proper eating, not having too much salt in my food having the proper mix of protein and carbohydrates I think Roglic really knows how to do it.
Rog is looking fresh and in better form. He will be difficult to beat if he gets any support from his team. When does UAE look to McNulty as team lead?
er... ...maybe when Almeida is more than 8 seconds off the lead?
i love how you misspelled Phoenix in a correction 😅😅

I was watching another channel recap today's race and they stated that Kuss and Adam Yates were caught out of position starting the last climb by being too far back and Mas was on Roglic's wheel? Are those the small details that will cost them the race?
Adam was no good I believe. Sepp could have been better placed but he moved up just before the left turn to start the real climb but was still a bit too far back. Sepp zero help at that moment also. But sepp must be ok at least (not great fitness today) because he was able to come back and not lose to much time. 🤔🦋🤞👍

Great show Chris! Wondering why attacking on the steepest section, i.e. breaking butterfly rule #2, is a bad thing? Isn't that what Pog and Jonas like to do? Thanks
I could have been more clear in this video. The #2 rule is never attack the strongest rider in the race on the steepest part of the climb because that’s where they have the biggest advantage. 👊👊🦋🦋
It was a great stage. Was happy to see him win it so they wouldn’t bring up UAE for the hundredth time during the stage. Primoz looked pretty good. Visma not so much.

You called it, make RB-Bora work. Kuss lost time 😞. Almeida got back in and stayed with Roglic. Might be a good 3wks.

I was hit by a car just the other day. Nasty cut and bruising on my hip. So I feel your pain. I have never had an AC issue, so I don’t have any advice in that area of recovery. All the best in your recovery ❤️🩹 🦋🍀
Spend much time doing research on your injury. That will help you understand the physiological of the injury and the recovery process. That will arm you questions and none of them are stupid. The more you know the better you will be able apply your knowledge. Don't forget nutrition it's very important you get all the building blocks on place too. Pain will also be part of recovery some is good, too much not so good. Stay focused, keep on track, the finish line seems to always be a little further up the road for awhile.
