  • This was a special day. An amazing catch and cook at the northern most tribal area of the Australian mainland. These boys took me in and showed me the whole process from hunting out around their islands to cooking the catch with Hot rocks under ground.
Make sure you subscribe and come along for the ride.
Thankyou to Uncle Tommy and Michael for sharing your knowledge and stories. And thankyou to all the boys for welcoming me in to your home.

Went dugong n turtle hunting last week with the darumbal mob from rockhampton for a kup murri, an what a experience it was, being native to aotearoa new zealand and learning from the indigenous people of Australia will stay with me forever.

Man, this series is mind blowing. Really really enjoying it so far, these legends are just so cool, my kind of people.
Listening to the old fellas talk is absolutely mesmerising, I could sit and listen to them forever.
Dude, that turtle looked amazing, I’ve never tried it like that either, sitting back bloody drooling, haha. And the fact everyone gets together and just bonds and gets on with it and shares it al around is what we all should do more of.
I can’t wait to get back up that way, very soon hopefully.
Thanks so much legend man. Truly loving it mate.

That was my takeaway from the day too mate, sharing all that time together. I learn so many valuable life lessons out on country with different mob, lessons that i then bring home and try to implement into my life and this one, being more present and making time for friends and family was a big one.

Aboriginal people and Torres strait Islander have been mixing in the Cape York long before the white Man came it's different up in far North QLD because their culture is a mix of Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal in hunting, dancing, eating etc. Just try Go up and tell them Blackfullas up there that they're not Aboriginal. You'll be in for a shock!I know for a fact you've never been to North Queensland!😂😅

Hunting turtle and dugong is Men Business in all the tribes / nations iv spent time with. Just like alot of things are womens business and strictly not for men. All those bowls on the table at the end there were to go home to each individual family for men, women and children. The men hardly ate any before going home actually, just the liver halfway through the day.

    Sorry
    So what!
But doesn’t make it right in these current times.
As a duck hunter of over 40 years plus in Victoria, I’m about to lose my rights to hunt ducks.
But if I was indigenous I would still be able to hunt ducks.
This double standards are ridiculous and for me to watch this and say it’s okay. Sorry your wrong.

You are hiding behind wigs in Canberra that are constrained by laws introduced many years before the times when we had to explain to our children why we have to use paper straws now to try to help save endangered turtles.
I don’t think the turtles care about 60,000 year old customs given that they were here 100 to 200 million years ago and are just trying to survive.
