Hi. I passed on Thursday on my 3rd attempt with 4 minors. Watching your mock tests really helped along the way. I'm 62 and hadn't had a single lesson until last April. Never give up on your dreams!
aww Harriet is so innocent. But yea it seems like she just needs to make sure she signals on the roundabouts. And when moving off or doing maneuvers, to do blindspot checks and mirrors. Apart from that, she can definitely drive.
Hi, Aman, I passed today first time, I just wanted to say your videos really helped me learn more information and rules of thumb than I may have known beforehand, and helped me feel relaxed over the last few months when my test was upcoming, and your videos have all been genuinely entertaining! Thanks for the great videos! And of course, I shall continue to watch :)
@ivilinatodorova8234 thank you 🙂 The test was absolutely fine, I had nerves at the start, but as soon as the drive began I was too focused on driving to feel nervous, the examiner was absolutely incredible, very calm, spoke very nicely, we had a chat and a laugh here and there, and he helped me as much as he was able to, telling me what directional signs to look out for whilst following the satnav for example, it was over so quick and honestly felt like a lesson just without the immediate feedback of what I did well and not so well, the worst part was the few seconds after parking up at the test centre and waiting to see if it was a pass or fail 😅
Like an experienced german car driver* - definitely not checking blindspots! She drove insanely well, and could tell she was just nervous and wanted to get going. Easy pass.
her outfit goes hard. she clearly has a very good feel for what the car is doing, and how to work with it, rather than hoping it does what you tell it to - a lot of drivers you see on the road have absolutely no feel for their car and it shows. i'd argue she has a better feel than many experienced drivers. that's a great sign for her
A little polish up needed, but I'd be happy to be a passenger with Harriet at the wheel. I've been with people qualified for 20+ years who weren't that solid.
Hey Aman, I passed my driving test today, thank you for your videos they definitely helped me with my lessons and the weeks leading up to my test.Keep up the good work.😊 All the best with your test Harriet!
Hi Aman Harriet like you said drove like a pro if she dose check her blind spots I think she should pass her driving test I Will definitely have my fingers crossed for her on her driving test day
Harriet, driving good. Hold back, for the oncoming, vehicle. (Harriet) hesitation, as the oncoming vehicle,, using dip headlight, inviting her through, but she was a bit slow to react. She will learn from that.👠
The blind stop after the emergency stop is a common way people fail and the reverse just keep checking around every couple of meters, you'll be fine for your test just think about making the examiner feel safe. For the blindspot checks when driving you can also lean forwards and check your mirrors and it will cover that area and safe having to turn your body to look back whilst driving
Great to see someone understanding difference between diesel and petrol and it shows. As soon she asked that i knew shell be good because she is interested in the cars which is a main step toward being a good driver. Her car control is great and finally someone is not afraid to change a gear when needed. Thumbs up!
Don't know about that, I know a few car nuts that are terrible drivers because they treat everything like a race and get frustrated behind the wheel. Being focused, patient and considerate of other drivers are much more important traits than being able to explain how a Wankle engine works.
True, but what i meant is to be good at something a person should have a minimum of interest, i never meant to say that one has to be a god tier mechanic to be a good driver. Driving is a skill and every skill can be enhanced if will and a desire to improve and learn is present.
I was taught in Germany that when reversing to always turn around in the car such that I could see the complete rear window directly (ie, without mirrors); the phrased used by my instructor was: Move your hips to turn your back towards the door. Though of course to also regularly what the front of your car is doing if you are not just reverting in a straight line.
Hello aman saw you today at the isleworth test centre cleared my test at first attempt with zero minors your videos really helped me alot please keep making such vidoes they are really very helpful your are doing a great job Guru Maharaj humesha chardikala chh rakhan thank you aman🙏🙏
Failed mine today. Absolutely gutted. One serious fault. Was in 3rd gear at a crossroads and stalled 3 times without realising. Was 5 minutes from the end. Zero minors too. 🤦♂️😂
9:30 I think the design of this junction is that cars turning right into the junction should only just clear the hatched markings on the left as we see it. Right turning cars emerging can do it in two stages by initially moving forward to stop in the void close to the hatching on the right as we see it.
If Harriet takes a little more time to think, she probably would have passed. I think she missed the blindspots, especially the first serious, because she started to fast with her assignment.
5.19 left signal was necessary turning left with an arrow pointing left. I passed my test in November 2016, my driving instructor said that you don't need to indicate if your lane tells you which direction you go? Unless it's changed now...
I'm currently learning - test next week and my instructor says the same. Unless you can take multiple exits from that lane you don't need to indicate so I don't think this should have been a minor?
My instructor says 'indicators are free' so you may as well use them. Aman says later in the video that it's a good idea to indicate anyway as there could be pedestrians or such for whom it would be useful. I am not sure if an examiner would give you a minor for that though.
I do not know if it applies to UK, but when performing any maneuver, you need to indicate in Estonia. Even if the road you are turning into is a one-way road or a compulsory turn. Ultimately, when you indicate while practicing, it will become an automatic response and a second nature. I indicate when performing any maneuver, even when not strictly necessary, because of the habit/reflex of turning on an indicator when making a manuever. As my instructor said: "you can't go overboard with neither vodka or indicating".
I was supposed to have my driving test this morning but it was cancelled due to icy conditions. The next date they gave me was in May. I know I can try and get cancellations on the app which I will do but it does not seem fair that I end up with one so far off when it was out of my control does it? I am pretty gutted because I have been working so hard for it recently and felt ready, Now I will have to wait weeks if not months and spending more on lessons I may not have needed just to keep practicing
That really sucks. I totally know how you feel. For my first test, as soon as we pulled out of the test centre it started to rain heavily. It then rained that badly it started flooding in the area I was driving. I could not see anything so had to pull over but after 15mins my test was stopped and it had to be postponed due to bad weather. I was so upset. I was unable to complete my test again for an entire year (due to work and life). But on the next test I passed. I look at it as it happened for a reason ❤. Good luck and I hope you can get in sooner than May!
That is annoying. It's a shame there isn't some kind of priority cancellation system for such cases. Srill, keep checking on the gov.uk 'change your driving test appointment' page and it's very likely that you will be able to get a test a lot closer than May. Copy your driving license number and your theory test number onto a post it (or memorise it) so you can log in and out of page easily.
This year has to be the year i pass or the quota is even more real. 😮😅 7:07 her understanding on the road is good.❤ 8:25 bad way to fail 10:55 have you seen the amount of 20 and 30 roads in London? 😊 i understand 20’s will be repeater signs This can be confusing for learners driving in LONDON. 15:50 interesting yellow cutout there 23:22 bad way to fail this 24:28 yet Harriet isn’t seen as a safe uk driver and the bus driver is Good that Aman, has the passion and the anger of other drivers driving
In the reversing part of the mock test would she have been ok to take off her seat belt ? If yes she would feel less restricted to turn around ie checking blind spots .
One thing I've noticed is that you don't practice the turn in the road manoeuvre (it used to be known as the 3-point turn) and no other channels appear to either. Is it not part of the test these days? Even if not, I've always thought of it as a good skill to have and I still use it myself.
@MiaMantri my guess would be saftey. Saying that you now can go into a car park to park to park. So can have more people wondering about and cars from all angles. There was also the reverse around the corner. Truthfully it really doesn't matter all that does matter whilst doing is that you keep checking around and are aware of your surroundings
13:57 she use a signal so there is a exit on the left which she didn’t go ! so did she signal right? Which the exit looks like street to me in that mini roundabout I don’t know can someone tell me
As someone from Spain, and a brit living in Spain, my god is the UK overly strict with their ''observations'' lol. Compared to spain, this is like 5x stricter.. XD
Some of that was a bit scary Harriet! Calm down take your time with roundabouts and junctions. you've got the makings of a confident and good driver, but I did notice quite a few times you're pressing the clutch before the brake, you're loosing all that lovely engine braking and can actually speed the car up. Good Luck with your Test and come back and let us know how it goes.

Also, don't you have a law about indicating a turn when overtaking moving vehicles or stable objects? I'm confused about that. How else are people supposed to know you are going to overtake? And one funny thing, I'm watching this video vertically flipped on the first monitor to actually see how these people are driving (we're driving on the right side of the road) and the normal version at the same time on the second monitor to read the text. I love your videos. I have a license for many types of vehicles, but the driving school videos are really interesting, sometimes fun, and can make even an experienced driver think about some driving situations. She really does drive like an experienced driver, she just seems quite nervous. I was also impressed when she guessed that the car is a diesel!
It’s easy to tell if a cars diesel, the rev limiter is a lot lower on diesels usually about 4,500 rpm whereas on a petrol it’s usually 6,500 rpm
