i have buy 4 GH5M2 to replace GH5 & GH5S :-) and you know what ? I have made two day of wedding with this ! and amazing ! I replace the GH5S too ! with this GH5M2 !
I'm trying to hold out for the GH6, but the GH5 (Mark I) is starting to show its age. Might have to go for the GH5 Mark II if they don't release the GH6 early in 2022. Your walkthrough videos are great!
@@felipecourtois7883 Actually no. The camera strap connector broke off suddenly, the mic jack rattles and the LCD screen turns off at random. And worst of all I can't use the Cine-D profile because there is a software glitch that makes certain shades of red turn blue. I have several films where the skin on some of the subject have blue splotches. so no, it didn't get better. 😐
I have two GH5 cameras and now just purchased this GH5 II. Researching what this camera is all about. You are in my top 5 reviewers I go to. Thank You 🙏🏻 👍🏻
All these items you mention are valuable; however, there is one feature on the Mk2 that made me abandon my two GH5’s. I shoot live theatre, concerts and dance shows so my cameras are on a long time. On the GH5’s I had to use a dummy battery and a USB battery. This meant that as I was setting up, until I had the USB battery connected, I had no power. With the MK2’s I can leave the battery in and format my cards (for internal back up). Each of my cameras has a Ninja V to record 4K ProRes so I don’t need the USB-C for internal recording. If you decide to go down this road be sure that your USB battery is capable of powering the camera and charging the battery at the same time. I use V mount batteries to power my Ninja’s. I also have a GH6, which has the same powering system. This makes my set up much easier. The GH6 does not have perfect auto focus so I use the focus limiter and it works great. I have a 2 TB CF Express Card in my GH6. This means that in addition to the 4 K ProRes on the Ninja, I record at 5.7 K ProRes internally. This not only gives me a high quality back up but I can also punch in to get a closer shot if I like.
Awesome overview Caleb, I just purchased the Gh5ii and am going to replace my trusty G85. Its been a great camera but am looking to get even better quality for my upcoming travel videos. Cheers man!
I try doing the variable Fra a and the camera says I can’t do it I notice that you have a long list for choosing Rec quality and the one you chose isn’t in my camera I find that weird because I have the g5ii maybe I will contact Panasonic and see what they recomend thank you for the tutorial.
Good job going over the new features. I am always thinking of getting a GH5 MK II, but since one can pick up a full frame S5 for the same amount new (with an included 16mm Sigma aps-c lens, for some reason), I am not sure how many people will be going for the GH5 MK II.
After watching your vlog on the 16mm lens for mft, I really liked the look that lens gave you. So I ended up getting one for my G9, SO...SO happy with it :) So thank you for that advice Bro.
Hi Caleb, i just bought my GH5 II. But in my Lens/other chapter the focus control ring is greyed out! I'm on body version 1.2. and tried it with the Leica Dg 12-60/2.8-4 and the 8-18/4. Can you help me?
Just got a pristine GH5ii for only $700. Didn’t see much on the 2 that I would use over the OG GH5 but for only $100 more I had to get the 2. One shoot with 4k60 422 and I’ll make up the difference. Is there a way to differentiate the Zebra1 from Zebra2? I was trying to use this feature and it just felt like I was only seeing zebra1 and zebra 2 was redundant
I have two GH5's and a GH5 Mk2. I unless you need the autofocus, I would not trade in a GH5 for a GH5 Mk2; however, if you are doing multicam shoots like I do, having one camera that can do auto focus well is great. The added bonus, is that it matches your GH5's so in a live stream you have no problems, and if it is a recording you have less work to do in post.
Hello Caleb, I love your channel. Do you know about one adapter to use one Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 DG Macro (originally for a Nikon D40/D60) in GH5M2 or this is imposible to fit in it? THANKS IN ADVANCE!
4 out of the 5 things are software updates that the original gh5 could have had.. if panasonic had put in the effort to make that software update instead of funneling into gh5 mark 2 sales
While I understand what you are saying, I remember Sean and Matt Frazer from Lumix saying that they had basically done as much as they could with the processor in the original GH5, since it is an older processor. So some features they were able to include in the GH5s and the G9 since it has a newer processor, but the GH5 original processor couldn't handle them).
Yeah I think the big thing and the reason they made the GH5ii was for updates that couldn't happen on the original GH5. Now for the most part, things will be able to update thru firmware updates on the GH5ii. Unfortunately the GH5 is just outdated on processor. But at this point, why not have the GH6 ready to roll instead 🤷♂️ ya know
Hii I'm watching your video sincerely and it's long time.. I purchased Gh5 with 12_35 lens. Its pretty good quality in wedding shoot. But there is not auto focus in variable frame rate or slow motion video.. hope it would be in gh6 .. You need to clear about its limitations too..
Hi great Video, People should look as well with GH5s,after the new update 2.2 I think they nailed the autofocus this time...thanks to the GH5ii and of course braw 12bit vlog 422. I just bought a used GH5s for 700 CHF $ in pristine state with original box and every thing....
Someone in a GH5 group said that the GH5 v2 doesn't have the ex. tele. con setting. Is this true? I use it so much for weddings, I really wouldn't want to go without it.
I have a GH5ii, they just switched the Tele Ex mode to "Pixel for Pixel" setting when shooting in video mode. It will have different crop if you're shooting 4k or 1080.
I filled handheld with this thing and it came out awful. Never had warping with my GH5, like I do with the mark 2. Also they renamed key GH5 features. definitely a PITA to transition to.
The GH5 was already worth the price, pound for pound the best value on the market, and now the GH5II especially at it’s current discounted price it’s doubly so. At a thousand bucks less than the GH6’s price of entry, it is a virtual no brainer, and already films in 6K 4.2.0. 10 bit… …
Do YOU think the GH5ii is worth upgrading to or would you rather wait for the GH6?

I'm unhappy with the performance on mine so far. Wish I would have just picked up another GH5.

First comment! love your color grading man. SO simple yet cinematic
thanks i really appreciate it!
Hello, my Focus Ring Control is gray, I have a 12-60 mm 2.8-4.0 lens. i can not adjust it?
Thanks for your video which is very good
Did you ever figure this out? I have the same issue with a 12-35 Mark1 and Nocticron 42.5...
Same with the 25mm 1.7
Just brought mine home, super excited to get shooting with it. Upgrading from a Lumix G7!

I have the GH5 Mk2 and the 35-100 mm Panasonic lens. I am on manual focus but the Focus Ring Control is greyed out. What am I doing wrong?
Ehi Caleb I love your channel! One year ago a bought a gh5 mark II and I wonder which external monitor do you recommend me. Thanks😊
Thanks for pointing out how you can use the vector scope while setting the white balance. Great.
great feature!
You can actually do that already on the GH5.

this is a great word! I don't do event production but I can see where this would be a great setup for it.

Not all panasonic lenses allow focus control option which is a pity but the ones that do this is a great option.
Truth! It's for sure great on the ones you can use it on.
So it will only work for certain Panasonic lenses or lenses that have the firmware updated?
Great video!
