Just got recommended this video. Love it. Great job Alex 👊
Fantastic imagery and great explanations. Thx!
You're very welcome Gerald! Stay tuned for more GG
thanks, this was really helpful. Ideally the room wouldn't have been pitch black! But it's cool to hear your rationale for the settings and the custom setups!
Awesome video bro. A lot of useful info. Thank you.
awesome dude! glad it was useful, happy shooting ;)
Thanks a lot. Will help me getting better footage.
I love this video
Nice video sir, nicely presented and explained
Sir, You are most welcome
Great video, thanks :-)
You should film 10 bit!!
great video. cine v is very nice, I prefer natural and portrai personally cause I like how the colors and skintones look. Especially natural it had this nice soft effect on the whole image compared to the other profiles when I tested all of them.
yo yo! good to hear from you! yeah 100% Natural is super good, I like it too - it's just one of those profiles that works well in any situation
👍🏾☮️ Awesome, bro! GH4 user here, but I'm still going to enjoy this, hehe. Much Appreciated
You're very welcome! Enjoy & Happy shooting ;)
@@justalexhimself Happy shooting, my friend! And fantastic footage you shot out of the GH5, by the way. 🌟
Another GH4 shooter here! Still a fab camera...
@@neurojitsu Awesome, brother! YES :)
Nice video 👍🏼
Thanks duuude 👊 🙏
Thank you Insightful Information i Use Potrait Profile
Would you do a tutorial on the 4K panning function, also can the cinelike V be installed on a G80/85?
I have a problem setting the Photo style. IT's greyed and I can not change between the modes, Cinelike D or V.... do I have to change something?
Thanks Alex, a great video! - As I am new to the GH5, could you please advise on what memory cards you are using for video, that can cope with up to the max 400mbps please?
that's a good question. I rarely shoot to the max resolution of 400mbs, but for the settings described in this video, I use a SanDisk Extreme PRO 170 MB/S Class 10 and it works fine!
lexar 250 ftw
Can you make an overview of your GH5 rog. The tumbnail is amazong but can’t seem to find any video about it. Looks nice
To get the af/ae lock working even on 60fps try changing to NTSC then you don't have to use variable frame rate
Yes that's true. You can also select a mode where camera will film in 60fps , but then you have to slow the footage down in post to get the slow mo effect
@@justalexhimself is there a disadvantage to having 60fps footage over having 30fps that's 50% speed?
@@justalexhimself I was the same, I bought this camera for using 120fps sports video so going to be a pain having to do manual focus...
Most important aspect of filmmaking lacks in this camera (dynamic range). Rest of all is superb. I think it has even less DR than a sony A6000.
Hey Man - do you have some nice and hot LUTS for the GH5 CINE-D Profile? =)
hey bro, sorry - I don't :/
I have a GH4 and I'm debating whether or not I shoot buy the GH5 now that it's much cheaper or if I should go with the Fuji X-S10. It kills me to leave M43 but after renting the Fuji I found the dynamic range to be so much better than the GH4. Is the GH5 much better as far as dynamic range than the GH4?
Don't know enough about the Fuji to be able to comment... but if you have lots of good M43 glass, I would keep it over investing in an entirely new system. Will those extra 1.5 stops of dynamic range really make that much of the difference in the end?
@@justalexhimself 1.5 stops, you're sure that's just what we're talking about here? Better sensor I'd day.
@@philippeorlando7482 go for it man. Life is short and new cameras are fun. Yolo :) let me know how it goes with the Fuji
I wish the frame rate options were simplier like the other Lumix câmeras
hmm yeah, i see your point, they could have some frame rates in menu settings as defaults.. still it's not too bad as you can set them up to Custom profiles.
My GH5 won't let me change the photo style - is there a way to make that option available
this should be somewhere in the menu settings.. have a look for "Picture Profile".
I think I will try these setting on cinelike v. I like the colours your getting dude
thanks dude! yeah give it a shot. My honest opinion is that Cine-D is over-rated. The noise you get in the shadows in Cine-D even at ISO 400 is horrible. Natural or Cine-V performs much better!
I will try Cine-V as well, I am tired trying Cine-D and never getting something I am happy with, so I shoot natural. What’s the main difference between Cine-D and V?
@@LincolnLohan77 yeah dude, give it a shot see what you think. Cine-D promises to give you good dynamic range (and kinda fails on skin tones and shadows) while Cine-V or Natural are supposed to look like finished picture profiles with little adjustment required in post (if any). I also think Cine-V is more vivid than Natural.
@@justalexhimself Thanks for the reply man! I was doing some quick tests and I agree that Cine-D is more Vivid, but I like Cine-V on camera with your settings, I will bring it on post and check it out! Thanks man!
@@justalexhimself Last question - Which one would you say has more DR, Natural or Cine-V?
Clinelike V didn’t worked for me. I found image similar to mobile phone footage in 4K. You shooting HD? Why? Just a waist of what GH5 has to offer in my opinion. I found that 6 K anamorphic in HLG produced stunning and clear of noise image. On top of it you have more informations to play with in post production. HLG also provides extra dynamic range which is definitely worth it. Not mentioning h.265 codec which saves you lot of space and allow to record all in very affordable Samsung EVO SD cards. Highly recommended.
mate, please feel free to make your own video about best GH5 settings in that case :)
8 bit?
Ummm ... ok
Get an Atamos ninja and record in 10 bit 422 60p
go for it mate, I am good with 8 bit 1080p ;)
@@justalexhimself .. i already have
If you dont shoot a clear sky, 8 bit is ok
