Project 7: from the 101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster book
I changed the spark plugs and spark plug tubes in my 1998 Porsche Boxster and made this how-to video for it. I hope it helps some people! It's not hard at all and requires very few tools, but a couple specialized ones that you will want to order in advance. I'll put some links to where I got them from below.

Great job with this tip, as always. I just completed this project today and the boat plug was a great tip. Worked really well. Just a couple of tips that you and others may also be aware of, but just in case, here are a couple of additional notes. First, you can gain access to the plugs from the rear wheel well if desired. If you jack the rear, remove the tires and take off the plastic tub guard, you can gain access to all of the plugs and you can actually see each coil including the ability to inspect down the plug shaft all the way to the spark plug mount. I can't say if it's easier, but I liked being able to see what I was doing and being able to take a look at the spark plug shaft. Also, the Bentley manual says you don't need to disconnect the coil. Because I could see what I was doing, they are correct. You can leave the coil attached and carefully get it out, let it hang while you change the tube and plug and easily put it right back in. Saves a step if nothing else. Hope that might help someone. Thank you again for your excellent video tips. I really appreciate them!

Bro, I wish I had seen your videos about 4 years ago. I have completely done my 2000 986. I mean from bumper to bumper has been touched. Even the interior is new. Took me 3.5 years but my Boxster is super nice. Even has a ceramic IMS bearing. I love the car. Great videos !!

I was going to do my coils at the same time. My friend who has a 98 like you said they have upgraded them to the 911 coil and use different screws. Have you heard of this or know where to get them. Am they are definitely bigger. Thanks!

No ran perfect. Hit 60k and wanted a routine maintenance change of plugs. I triple checked wiring and boots seated. Got an fuel injectors open circuit code now all 6. So weird. Still just cranks. Sad.

i think i would be very nervous/suspicious of a spark plug that demanded so much leverage for more than one turn to get to the point where it could be easily turned out by hand.
