In fairness, the game show is loved by many around the world, even here in the US (well after ABC fucked up and overexposed the show less than five years after its _primetime_ premiere).

I didn't think I would enjoy Jeremy as a host. I was wrong and glad I was. I absolutely think Jeremy is great. His humour and demeanor is fantastic. Great choice ITV.

Went into syndication just after 3 years of prime time, starting with Meredith Vieria. Further worsened by the fact the US version is now no longer the Millionaire we know from the beginning.
Regis was great, Meredith Viera was okay, and the new host is not good at all. It would be cool if Jeremy came over and hosted our version.

@@deathbystereo- Didn't you hear Jeremy say at the start of 1:00 that he doesn't have the answer popped up instantly after revealing the question and doesn't have any contact with the outside world at all? Unlike Ingram, the fraudster the WWTBAM fans know.
The Positives:
I think the revived show works well. Why wouldn't it? It's Millionaire! The set looks great, Jeremy seems like the best choice as host. Reverting to the original format is a big yes. Bringing back fastest finger, another yes. Getting rid of the clock, massive yes. Love the new lifeline and the new setting the safety barrier, it's a nice touch of something new without ruining the classic formula.
The Negatives:
I don't think the opening title sequence is particularly strong. Bring back the zombies entranced by the Millionaire logo. Not happy that the theme tune has been cut down. Studio is too dark during the early stages of the game. Jeremy "erm's" too much. He doesn't read the questions out in the right tone of voice. And (First ep spoilers.) did it really take that first bloke sooooooo long to reach £8000?! Editing needs sharpening up, I appreciate that the contestants progress cannot be altered, but it did expose the reason why the climb to £1000 was shortened in 2007. Man alive, the whole hour's show was the easy questions. Not good.
A side note, somewhere between the positives and negatives, it's interesting that the older set of music has been reinstated, over the modernised versions. Not sure if that's good or bad. It's something.
But all in all, if the teething problems are ironed out quickly enough, I don't see why it wouldn't be a success and continue beyond this initial week's run. Great job, enjoyed it.
Another negative is that god awful tv graphic. Just doesn’t look right.

That needs to get fixed fast, otherwise we’re gonna have a problem...

As much as I really disliked the clock format, I think on a live show, the clock would have been better to speed up progress. Athough going by last night's contestants, they would have ran out of contestants before the show ended if that was the case.
Just some thoughts on all these replies:
ITV promoted the series using the newer theme tune, so it's odd that it's not actually the one being used. I'm undecided which set of music is best, because I did like the jazzed up version. However, I think using the original score probably is the right way to go to bring the show back to its roots. The raved up music lost the sense of drama.
Gylo X - I'm not sure what you mean by TV graphic. If you mean the screen used for the flooring around the game podium, I quite like that.
It was indeed unbelievable that anyone would risk playing an answer they were unsure of without using their lifelines. That bloke just talked himself into believing that Umbro must be the right answer purely because he wanted it to be, even though he hadn't got a clue when the question first came up.
Definitely bring back the phone line application. Because you got "real" people, rather that "TV" types. It's the sense that the chap down the road, the woman next door, are playing, the underdogs taking on a million pounds, which made it so gripping. If I'm honest, I sometimes don't champion the hipsters or the quirky to win big. They just don't seem like they actually deserve it, and a good slap down might do them some good.
Couldn't care less for this show. Jeremy hosting it makes me interested

Eddie Strike 20 years ? It was only taken off the air in 2014. Jeremy is not a good host for this.
I used to watch the original show with my dad who is dead now and always wanted this show to come back as it reminded me of him
Eddie Strike awww, same, my dad loved this show. He died in 2009, rip to your father mate, this life is hard, we have no answers which makes it Worse. Everyone says it the format of millionaire that made it successful. That is half true because Chris tarrant was one of a kind, he contributed so much energy and personality to that show that it made it so successful.
I mean, can you imagine Jeremy clarkson presenting the original ? It would have flopped.
I think a women was needed for the rebirth of this show, it would breathe a new feeling to the show. I would have personally chose fern Britton.

They used this lifeline for the US version with Jimmy Kimmel this past summer. It got interesting when Jimmy himself was one of the choices for a question, and the celebrity contestant, I forget who, chose to use their Ask the Host lifeline. It's a hilarious clip if you haven't seen it yet.

@Romi: in France, Germany, and Turkey, the word "lifeline" is translated by the host as "joker". in Germany, especially, Ask The Audience lifeline is called "Publikumsjoker". So, it's reasonable if "Ask the Host" is called "Moderatorsjoker" in German.
